On3 acquires Rivals

We’ve received several questions about future subscription access for On3 and Rivals. The good news: this acquisition will deliver more value to members of both platforms. On3 members will gain access to Rivals recruiting content.

Rivals members will gain access to On3 national college content.

All of this will be included in your current subscription. For 95% of members, you’ll receive full access to both platforms with no upgrade required.

For the small number of overlapping fan sites (fewer than 5% of members), we’re working on a fair upgrade solution that respects both publishers.

More details are coming soon—we’re targeting full integration within two months. Until then, everything remains status quo.

If you look at any Press release about any merger, it will read almost identical. "Minimal changes. More value." As soon as the merger closes, they will "find" all sorts of redundancies and opportunities for efficiencies.

Subscriptions are being merged. There is no need for Ryan Snyder and Richie to both be reporting on the same things for the same audience. If subscriptions are merged, it's only a matter a time until the sites are merged. No reason to maintain a duplicative web presence to get content to one set of subscribers. Certainly no need to have 2 "free boards."

I used to be a premium subscriber, but stopped when we lost thread view b/c I didn't want to pay to have to wade through the idiotic arguing. I don't plan on going back to premium, but not having to deal with Lord McAndrew is a pretty good reason to consider it.
Richie/Dylan are paid to provide content and they moderate the free board as a secondary duty. Logic would state that they can offload moderation of a free board to a free resources that seems to enjoy the power of telling anonymous strangers what they can and cannot type in a minute corner of the internet. So, it's likely that the free board will be McAndrew. It's likely that HVI is folded into BWI, because BWI is a long-standing brand that On3 bought. I can't/won't guess on individual staffing decisions, but there is certainly overlap. Change is afoot folks. Time will tell how it shakes out, but if you choose to remain, I'd say get ready for a "football" board where you can create March Madness brackets to objectify women, but you can't ask if it's okay for a biological man to play women's sports.

Right, and what it appears to say, cloaked in standard don't-worry-everyone-will-be-thrilled language is that the main college football message board will be placed squarely back in Tom's lap.

As for the Current Events board on Rivals, good luck with that.

But who knows...
I've been through a dozen software company mergers. Here is the process:

  1. This is great. One big happy family.
  2. Synergies will create a better customer experience.
  3. Sorry, we had to lay off HR and IT because there was overlap.
  4. To cut costs, we had to consolidate some stuff. Sorry for the inconvenience. But you won't miss it because we are coming out with A, B and C.
  5. Sorry, A, B and C are delayed.
  6. Due to external forces, we just had to group everything into one entity so I hope you like what we picked out for you.

Real American Freestyle Wrestling

Hulk Hogan and his partners were interviewed on Fox News this morning about the new Professional Freestyle Wrestling. It promises top talent like Zaheid Valencia, lots of cash, dramatic moves equal more money, and lots of publicity. The first event is August 30th in Cleveland. They promise to create a 'backstory' to generate publicity. BEG will attempt to explain everything at 6:00 Eastern tonight.

What Happens When Teams Qualify All Ten?

Still very interesting data. The premise is all based on the seeding, and your prior graphs, show that the committee does a pretty good job doing that. PSU 2025 with an average seed of 2.5 is the crazy number and only being about 0.5 lower across all 10. And the stars didn't even perfectly align with Greg injury defaulting to 6.

PSU 2024 beating seed and that was at 4.0 across all 10. But that was with Carter at 9 I believe because of his injury, so if they seeded properly, PSU would have been red there as well.

I always thought that teams like Mizz and NCST got overseeded, mostly because of the weaker conferences and the ability to have untested, undefeated wrestlers going into NCAA.

But few points here show that, but then again, this dataset is only when all 10 wrestlers qualify, which isn't the norm.

Thank you again. Engineer here, so data is always fun to look at
You are not wrong.

Using the past 11 tournaments, here is how teams who average at least 6 wrestlers per tournament have performed relative to their seeds.

Suddenly, wideout looking pretty solid.

Remember that Pickett was a Heiman Trophy Finalist in 2021 after doing next to nothing from 2017 through 2020, and Allar has had a better career than Pickett did leading up to his senior season. If PSU beats Oregon and is undefeated heading into Columbus, he'll be under consideration.
Picket had two things going for him that Allar doesn't seem to have. A super talented future NFL draft choice WR that took 3-5 yard passes and turned them into 20+ yard gains, and playing against the mostly soft defenses in the ACC where a competent QB with a couple weopons can consistently light up the score board and stats.

Football Projecting Penn State's Defensive Depth Chart Post Spring

Agree but we are also light at DT. So that makes us soft up the middle. Let's hope Knowles is the real deal.
I don't really believe "soft". Durant was dominant in the playoff games, Ford was playing very well as a big, strong 300+lb 1 tech before he missed time due to injury, and Franklin describes 300 lb Gilliam as a candidate to start. And Blanding and Artis, not sure fire eventual starters, have gotten reserve role game snaps over the last 2-3 years. And the 3 redshirt freshmen seem on track to contribute (Wafle, Cook and Andrews) as they continue to gain strength and experience - Franklin and Barnes have been cautious in projecting them to significant playing time so far..

Kind of like LB in that there seems to be a good bit of talent but a good bit of it is somewhat young such that an experienced, competent player would be a value added addition.
