Brody Teske wrestled in two dual meets for Penn State in the 2019-2020 season before transferring, and eventually landing at Iowa this year. As SWPA mentioned below, Brody wrestled for Iowa in the Cal Baptist dual meet on November 13th.

Michigan has certainly looked very impressive this year and a lot is being made of their two straight wins over OSU.

There are articles about how PSU is now "chasing" Michigan rather than chasing OSU.

PSU is 2-2 vs Michigan over the last four years, including a very close loss (that probably should have been a win) in 2021. PSU has also played very close games against OSU over the past 6 years. My assessment is that PSU is not very far behind either program.

However, I would make three points about Michigan's recent success as they relate to PSU.

1) In the four years prior to Michigan's first playoff appearance, their records were: 8-5, 10-3, 9-4, 2-4 (all under Harbaugh). That's mediocre (ish) and not dissimilar from where PSU is.

2) While Michigan was (mostly) impressive this year, their 2021 results included a loss to MSU and squeaking by (1 score games) against Rutgers, Nebraska and PSU.

There is zero reason PSU can't also break through. Recruiting is similar, coaching is similar, facilities are similar, NIL is similar. Just a matter of time.

FWIW. Neither story is confirmed...mostly a composite of chatter from the Talking Heads and scribblers of the press, to include the newspaper in Knoxville, which is speculating that Tennessee may end up in the Cotton when the dust settles.

There's a strong consensus that Georgia and Michigan are in regardless of what happens Saturday. TCU is less certain, but most commentators seem to feel that unless they lose badly to Kansas State, the Frogs have also punched their ticket. That would leave a USC loss as Ohio State's only hope. Hard to see that happening...even though the oddsmakers see it as a close game.

Re the Rose, the thinking in some quarters is that two years in a row of hosting an Ohio State team that got bounced out of the playoff doesn't move the needle much in terms of interest or excitement. Whereas Penn State has the ranking and is on the upswing...with a large, enthusiastic fan base to boot. In that scenario, the Buckeyes would go to the Orange, which is what they might prefer anyway.

See Link. So I counted...this is the 7th Clifford-centric video we've done in the 3 years we've been doing these and it's amazing how little has changed. Same issues Codutti highlighted in Oct 2020 using Clifford's 2019 UM tape are the same issues that show up in this video - poor pocket presence, slow reads/progressions, wrong RPO reads. They're always interesting videos because there's so much to be critical of lol. For the most part, he was the same guy in 2019 that he was in 2022...but when it mattered he got the job done for the most part.

- Teams around the country have been tracking Mupoyi for a couple years. Penn State is in the best position right now, but there are still some unknowns in his recruitment. Other teams have a window to make a move, but he is scheduled to take an official visit to Penn State next weekend and that window could close once he returns home.

Nice start but Clemson back to even with Pickett on the bench. Pickett returns and PSU builds lead back to 10 before small Clemson run at end of the half.

Clemson shooting 50% from 3pt range and giving smaller PSU defenders problems down low.

Bewildering play at end of half. PSU has 6 pt lead and the ball with 34.9 seconds remaining. I was thinking hold for last shot but Johnson shoots and mmisses immediately which gives Clemson last shot. Fortunately they missed.

As mentioned in our transfer portal tracker thread, Penn State has started to show interest in Western Michigan transfer defensive tackle Braden Fiske so much interest that they have decided to offer him along with Mississippi, Mississippi State, Rutgers and West Virginia.

However the rumor is Florida State is making a big push here and despite not offering yet, they have shown significant interest at this point. So something to watch there.

I expect Penn State to push very hard for 2023 defensive back Daniel Harris now that he decommitted from UGA and we have submitted a futurecast in favor of the Nittany Lions.

I have 3 matches for some extra focus.

The match of the meet IMO would be running Levi out against Josh Humphreys. I just think there is much more to reveal than going with the Claw on this one. Sure it would be a great test for Barraclough, but I personally think he would be tested to keep it under a 5-6 point decision. 'If' Levi could eke out a 1-2 pointer here then it would serve as a huge validation point he is ready. Conversely, of he gets horsed around then the case for a shirt is pretty strong. I hope we get to see one of Levi's 5 dates burned this week.


Next up if course is Dean vs Beard. I give Dean at least 4 point victory. I really don't see Beard having a 3rd period tank this early in the season and Dean looks like a man on a mission.

I would also love to see Steen keep it close into the 3rd with Carter, where he might be able to grab one. I don't see Steen as a blood round guy but these are the kind of matches that can give us hope.
