Car shopping tools?

I recall in the 90’s, when researching a car purchase, there were web sites that would tell you what the invoice price was for a vehicle and various options. My bank used to provide this info, but not any more. Does anyone know whether this info (for new cars) is available on the web these days?

Also, is anyone aware of a site where you can sign up to receive notifications when new rebates are announced?

Cardboard cutouts

Since there aren’t any fans in the stands, many stadiums are putting cardboard cutouts in the seats just to give the perception of a crowd in attendance. When we start our season, I’m sure the same will happen at Beaver stadium.

That being said, any chance of a JoePa cutout making the crowd? And who else (besides yourselves) would you like to see in a cardboard Penn State crowd?

“Penn State's research expenditures top $1 billion mark”

See the link below. From the article:

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State’s research expenditures exceeded the $1 billion mark in fiscal year 2019-20. The total figure, $1.01 billion, places Penn State among a select group of research universities nationally, and reflects the interdisciplinary strength built over three decades. It represents a $40 million increase over last year’s number, and includes a record $633 million in federal funding, as well as $375 million from a combination of private funders, the commonwealth of Pennsylvania and University sources.

“This milestone reflects both the strength of external support for the University’s research activity and the broad impact of that activity on solving complex societal problems,” said Penn State President Eric J. Barron. “From advancing health, to addressing food security and sustainable energy solutions, to contributing to economic development, Penn State’s research enterprise is dedicated to improving the overall quality of life for people in our communities, our nation and our world.”

“It’s a testament to the world-class quality and teamwork of our dedicated faculty, students and staff, and a statement of our continuing commitment,” said Senior Vice President for Research Lora Weiss. “These expenditures also reflect the continued confidence our sponsors have in us and the extensive breadth and depth of our research portfolio.” In the most recent NSF HERD (Higher Ed R&D) expenditures report, she noted, Penn State had 18 research fields ranked in the top 10, more than any other university.”

I hate us.

Happy, yes but........

There is no question that I am happy to hear that the Big Ten will begin play in October. It was not easy watching football this past week when normally I would be watching a PSU game. But I am speaking selfishly in the sense that I miss PSU football and want to again watch it. But my desire comes with a risk. Yes, the Big Ten has proclaimed that they are taking all the precautions possible - as they should. But I am worried about these kids and what we are exposing them to. No question that they would be exposed to risk anyway. We cannot make a perfectly safe environment whether in the classroom or on the football field. And, as some have argued, maybe the football field is safer - maybe. But I would like to know the real motivation for resuming the season. Sorry, I always smell the almighty buck although disguised by a host of noble and wonderful reasons. Let us not forget that there is a tremendous burden on these young men to control themselves and limit their exposure to activities that would increase risk of infection. If they can do that - BRAVO. They will deserve it.

I hope this works out for everyone. And yes, I will enjoy watching PSU but mindful of the fact that this comes with a risk. I hope it is a rewarding season and the players remain safe. Now let's kick some butt!!

WE ARE

UNC vs Charolette football game this week cancelled....

so what? why does that matter. Well Marshall was to play Appy State this week. Appy State played Charolette last week, so they are testing like hell. Why is this so important. Well the Marshall vs Appy State game was to be at 130 pm on CBS sports, but got bumped to 330 pm on CBS because the game CBS was to have was cancelled due to Covid19. So if MU vs Appy isn't played, CBS will have reruns of NCIS or maybe Minersville vs Panther Valley or something. getting down to the bottom of the barrel so to speak.

When does the controversy discussion start?

Ok everyone, you know it is coming. The raging debate that a 9-0 B10 champ does not deserve a CFP spot over the darling SEC leaders. A 9-1 LSU that loses a close game to Bama, are they in ahead of a 9-0 B10? Probably not but there will be incessant whining from the SEC.

Also, the ONLY shot a B10 team has for the CFP is to be unbeaten. For PSU even that may not be enough. Why? Just because we are PSU.

Schedule if the B1G agrees to play

What does the schedule look like if they vote to play? They will have missed 6 weeks if they start Oct 17. They have two bye weeks in the current schedule and one week before the B1G Championship.

Do they keep the current schedule and forego the lost games?
Do they reschedule everything?
Do they keep the schedule, eliminate bye weeks and reschedule some missed games into those bye weeks?
Do they keep a bye before the Championship?

So many questions.

Surprisingly, hotel rates in State College haven’t been jacked up for weekends. If I owned a property, I’d plan on football weekend prices for every weekend until a schedule is released. Then back down prices for non football weekends.
