Remember how far these '5 star' PA recruits can fall..

Now at a crap program, out of position with little hope of getting on field. No offense to kid but 5 star is not a sure thing.

118 at NCAAs - 1984-1993

I was looking over NCAA champs in history and was struck by the fact that from 1984 to 1993, inclusive, Pennsylvania college wrestlers won 8 titles between 4 different wrestlers. Penn State got 3 of them - DeStefanis in 1984 and Prescott in 1991 and 1992. Three for Bloomsburg (Ricky Bonomo) and two for East Stroudsburg (Cuvo). Pretty remarkable.

Penn State AD Pat Kraft on Big Ten expansion, private equity in college sports and more

Click here for the interview of Pat Kraft.
It is a rather interesting interview with lots of information. Two positive things I took from this is that PSU has zero interest (thankfully) in getting in bed with private equity vultures and that Kraft is truly dedicated to the entire athletic dept (vs just football), as he should be. The one negative take away was that they have talked about the PSU NIL brand academy for two years and are still setting it up, which I think is way too long.

STATE COLLEGE, PA. (July 23, 2024) – Penn State University Athletics today announced a landmark partnership with Oak View Group (OVG) and its OVG Hospitality division to become its first food and beverage partner to expand and enhance the offerings across multiple Intercollegiate Athletics facilities.

Through a multi-year partnership, OVG Hospitality will bring a reimagined customer service approach to several Penn State Athletics venues, including Beaver Stadium, the second-largest stadium in the country, and Pegula Ice Arena. With a focus on providing the ultimate fan experience, OVG Hospitality is prioritizing several investments in the food and beverage program. Texas at Michigan

I think this could be a very big game for PSU to make the playoffs. Oregon & OSU are favorites to win the BiG and there's a good chance that the conference will only get 3 teams*. That means PSU could be battling UM for the 3rd spot.

Michigan's top opponents are Texas, USC, and Oregon (all at home) and OSU (on the road). If UM beats Texas they have a great chance to finish with only 2 losses and have a signature win.

Neither OSU or OR have a challenging out of conference game. OSU plays @ OR and @ PSU. Their next best opponents are Nebraska & Iowa. Oregon plays @ OSU and gets UM at home. Their next toughest opponent is Wisconsin.

* Keep in mind that Notre Dame faces only one top 10 opponent (FSU) and 5 conference winners get an automatic bid.
