Film Study - Tengwall on potential starters at OT

OFFENSIVE TACKLE FILM STUDY

See link. Shelton, Williams, Rucci, Donkoh. Surprised to learn Penn State has only had to replace both starting OTs who were good enough to get drafted once prior in program history. And, honestly, as much talk as there has been about Kotelnicki's scheme "curing" the passing attack, explosivity in the run game, etc., we'll know the guy is a true genius if he can design concepts that aid/assist our relatively green o-line. Lastly, Shelton scares the hell out of me (and not in a good way) as a pass protector.

Today's Wall Street Journal's large article on the PSU stadium funding debate

Sounds like the WSJ came out supporting the opponents to the stadium project - Jay and Lubrano, in particular, in questioning the risks of going into the red to finance major renovations, at a time when the ADept just about broke even last year, and ongoing budget concerns at the Univ. They pretty much question the Universities projections of future revenues, and its unwillingness to provide more documentation to the BOT.

Or at the least, questioning the wisdom of a $700M "investment" in the future of CFB in Happy Valley. They noted how Nebraska's planned football upgrades have been rapidly scaled back, in the face of changing CFB/NIL etc.

Consider me as one of those who wonder how much longer CFB Big Boys can continue to show growth in revenues/support in an era of NIL, and tightening university budgets. What I read on here about underfunding for the education side of the house/professor salaries/loss of the ability to earn "tenure" etc. tells me that future funding of universities hs been/is in serious decline and question.

Great Video - Offensive Tackles

This highlights what I've been saying all off season. That Drew Shelton and J'Ven Williams should not be starting LTs in 2024.

He starts with Shelton. He has to show Shelton vs Delaware just to highlight the good. But watch how bad and easy Shelton gets beat the few plays he shows vs Ole Miss. Tengwall is only showing a few plays for a short video, but those two plays of Shelton vs Ole Miss is how bad he got beat in Pass Pro in 90% Pass plays vs Ole Miss. I went back and rewatched all his pass plays vs Ole Miss, so I'm not just saying this. Shelton will not hold up vs good teams.

J'ven can't even block Delaware guys.

Now on the flip side look at how much better Rucci and Donkoh were. Donkoh will be the best OT on the team. He got beat vs Ole Miss because of mental mistakes NOT physical. It was Donkohs first game starting at OT. I don't know why he didn't show any plays of Donkoh in Pass Pro vs Ole Miss because he played great.

Even though Rucci wasn't perfect look at the difference compared to Shelton. Shelton couldn't block Ole Miss DEs. Rucci got bull rushed a bit NOT by DEs but big LSU 300lb DTs. 260lb DEs will not bull rush Rucci the same. Also Rucci was barely 300lbs at Wisconsin and is about 315lbs now at PSU.

Rucci is the better LT over Shelton.

TITLE IX

How's revenue sharing going to effect Title IX? All I see looking it up is Title IX applies to the new revenue sharing, yet there lacks clarity of how it will be dispersed school to school. Right now it looks like it's the schools discretion how much money they give to women's sports? Is that correct, for now?

I saw a tweet few weeks back saying SEC schools will give $15mil of the $20-22 mil to football. If Title IX implies the money is to be distributed "equally" between men and women sports than you cant give $15mil to football and $15mil to women because you would exceed the $20-22 mil cap.

Another question, is the revenue sharing cap $20 or $22mil? I kept hearing $22mil but now everything I read says $20mil?
