Football Injury Report update

Feels like a good time to do an injury report for Penn State with 13 days remaining until kickoff.

OUT for forseeable future:

QB Jaxon Smolik
DE Zuriah Fisher
LB Keon Wylie
WR Peter Gonzlaez

Banged Up:

TE Khalil Dinkins
OT Anthony Donkoh

Right now, I'd expect Dinkins and Donkoh to likely be available for West Virginia. I also received word from a source on Saturday that Kaden Saunders might be a little banged up, its unclear the severity of it but any sort of time missed would be tough considering he's been having a strong offseason and preseason by all accounts.

DT - Dvon Thomas

Somebody help me out here. Is this a player to get excited about this season? Why don't I have any recollection of this player being on the team? He is in his 6th year (2019 recruit) and was the 9th best DT and 112 nationally on 247 site. Was he ever talked about in any meaningful way over the last 5 years? His bio on 247 shows he was honorable mention All-Big Ten last season with 23 tackles (5 for loss). I literally have 0 memories of this kid. Am I the only one who is drawing a blank?

OT: Cycling

Enough cycling fans on here for a thread about #SeppKuss? Couldn’t find a good place for such a thread.

Simply incredible. And let’s not ignore that even putting the stage 6 breakaway win aside, he still put over a minute on every other team’s GC.

I’m not sure he can’t beat Roglic straight up with equal support and rest. (Jonas is a different animal.)

A GT win couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy.

***Ask The Staff -- Wednesday Edition***

Every week, The Knight Report publisher Richard O’Leary and his team of Penn State Athletics experts answer questions from Nittany Lions fans about the any of the athletic programs, their recruiting efforts, or whatever else they might want to know in this thread below. If we don't know the answer, we'll work our hardest to find out the latest and provide the best answer possible.

We will check in on the thread all day long to answer whatever questions you have!

Zane Durant

I think Zane is poised for a breakout season. 1st team B10 and a first round pick. The only knock on him is his size, but he’s up to 290 and is still a ridiculous athlete. The B10 crew mentioned him specifically as a DT that stood out on a loaded DL. I actually hope he has a good year, but doesn’t go off the charts and enter the draft. We’ll lose a ton on the Dline after this season so having him back next year would be huge. Losing DDS, Carter, Durant, J Thomas, and Izzard would be crippling in 2025.

FB Recruiting Who did you go out on a limb for that will make you look good down the road?

Login to view embedded media Greg Smith: Jayden Woods. The weakside defensive end (6-3, 230) can get after the quarterback off the edge but his potential position switch has me very intrigued. After seeing him work out at inside linebacker this summer, his potential is even higher at that position. Seeing him play the new spot in games will go a long way to determining if the Penn State commit’s move up the rankings was correct or if he needs to go even higher.
