Penn State Football is hiring West Virginia defensive line coach Andrew Jackson as a defensive line analyst per reports.

He was a graduate assistant for PSU from 2015-16.

I heard and i hope incorrectly that the first budget by the HoR showed only a $200 billion reduction. A few random facts that i have heard in the past week make me very disappointed. In no particular order.

DOGE - How much real savings do we think will be identified? They say they are at $55 billion right now. Add to that the $20 billion that EPA found. Then they talk about some huge numbers from Social Security, and Medicaid in fraud only not benefits. Safely another $50 billion.
DoE - Pick a number $10 billion
Reduction of workforce - 200,000 ? That equals another $20 billion.
So that is the easy stuff and equals $155 billion. At a bare minimum, just from waste and fraud.

Then I started thinking about the stock market and the S&P was up 23% last year. Most analysis I have heard is a large part of that rise was do to the expected tailwind of cost reduction and efficiency from AI. Well think of the Federal government as a $7 trillion dollar company. I haven't heard anyone talk about efficiencies from AI at the federal level. Why not? Could AI bring a 10% saving with no reduction of service? Seems quite possible. Let's just use a 5% number. If my zeroes are correct that is $350 billion more dollars.

Now we are at $455 billion without much effort and no DoD.

My biggest beef so far. Department of Defense budget in 2024 was what $850 billion. This department has never passed an audit. What will DOGE find here? I think this could be an enormous number. Google fact. The US has the largest defense budget in the world and not by a little bit.
We spend more than countries 2-9 COMBINED. How can the HoR think we need a $150 billion increase. Adding insult to injury was a report i heard talking about the how the face of war is changing so dramatically. The author of this report said the future will be fighting with drones and cited the success Ukraine is having today. This person said drone firepower is dramatically less expensive than traditional methods. I just don't see in a world of cutting spending why the DoD which will show huge waste,[from DOGE] and now a new cheaper fighting technology is developing needs an increase in a defense budget that is already twice the size of Russia and China combined.

Taxes - This what i think they should do. Make permanent the tax cuts from 2017 for everyone making less than $500k. [almost everyone] then allow the other features expire. Why? If I am not mistaken the SALT limits also expire. I believe a very large majority of those making over $500k actually paid more in taxes with the SALT limits at $10,000. I personally think the SALT limits were a good thing but by letting the tax plan expire on the "rich" folks completely destroys the D argument without actually raising taxes.

Any way it is early in the process but this is the first thing I have heard that I don't like. Thoughts? If we could cut $ 1trillion from the budget this becomes the baseline for the next 10 year forecast. that would equal at a minimum a $10 trillion reduction to the rate of growth of the deficit. That i believe would allow the Feds to lower interest rates which lowers inflation and grows the economy. All good

The return of the business of educating children should be returned to the States. The Dems' opposition is based upon retaining power and money and concentrating their governance in Washington DC. The Dept has abused their power by imposing their left-wing policies of DEI, Critical Race theory, and Trans in Athletics and rest rooms and must go as not representative of the desires of the majority of parents in the country.
