The Democrats’ Culture Denialism

Ruy Teixeira strike again, and I agree with him fully.

They just don’t get it.

In the wake of the Democrats’ drubbing at the hands of Donald Trump and the GOP, you’d assume the party would be all-in on a fundamental rethink, starting with some serious soul-searching on how the party came to be so out of sync with the majority of America on key cultural questions.

Questions like: Is America really a “white supremacist” society? What does “structural racism” even mean and does it explain all the socioeconomic problems of nonwhites? Is anyone who raises questions about immigration levels a racist? Are personal pronouns necessary and something that should be popularized if not demanded? Are transwomen exactly the same as biological women and are those who question such a claim simply “haters” who should be expunged from polite society?

For each of these questions, the answer for the overwhelming majority of Americans is an obvious no. But in elite Democratic circles, it’s a different story. For a party pondering its unpopularity, you might think that this gap would be a good place to start.

Well, if the two months since the election is anything to go by, you’d be wrong. Instead, much of the party is maneuvering to change as little as possible on the cultural front.

Why? Because fundamentally today’s Democrats are culture denialists. That is, they do not consider cultural issues real issues. They are typically viewed as politically motivated distractions or as expressions of something else entirely (i.e., racism, sexism, xenophobia, transphobia, etc.) They are not treated as issues that need to be dealt with on their own terms.

Scranton Officials Demand for Biden’s Name to Be Removed from Landmark

LOL... I wish NJ and Daffy were here..................

Pennsylvania Officials of outgoing President Joe Biden's birthplace is demanding that his name be removed from a prominent local landmark following his controversial decision to pardon a federal judge involved in a cash-for-kids program that jailed thousands of juveniles in the state. The move has sparked outrage in Scranton, where Biden has deep ties, with many arguing that the pardon tarnishes the president's legacy. The expressway, which honors Biden's contributions to the city and the country, now faces renewed scrutiny as local leaders demand that his name be stripped from the site in response to the controversial pardon.

The newly elected Pennsylvania Republican State Rep. Brenda Pugh is calling on city officials to remove Biden’s name from expressways labeled in his honor after he pardoned former Luzerne County Judge Michael Conahan after he was convicted of profiting off sentencing juveniles for-profit prisons.

She called the pardon a disgrace and a slap in the face.

“Conahan’s conduct is forever a blight on Pennsylvania and is a slap in the face to the victims and their families who deserve justice to be served for his atrocious crimes,” Pugh wrote

“His clemency places complicity and a stamp of approval on his behavior. Children are among the most vulnerable Pennsylvanians. This decision is nothing short of a travesty and his clemency is a miscarriage of justice.”

Inside Jokes Explained (New users read this)

Not sure about the necessity of the thread, but as a few on another thread were asking about a few inside jokes, I thought I’d start a thread about some of the most popular so everyone is in the know...

-“insert name” IS BEATING NICO IN THE ROOM!...excessive rumors about mainly Suriano beating Nico in the room led to “everyone” beating Nico in the room. Apparently these were just ‘spykerisms’

-What mat are Carton and Pletcher on?...As someone else noted, Spyker may have been the starter on this as it was asked anout what mat these 2 were wrestling on repeatedly during last years NCAA tournament.

-George’s Barbershop references- the announcers of an early season away dual against Clarion repeatedly plugged “George’s Barbershop” and urged listeners to go in for a haircut and a shave.

Mike Evans is not impressed!...again noted earlier in another thread, Evans claimed that he was not impressed by Taylor and Dake during the season that he shared a weight class with them. It was blown up by slush’s fairly regular poll posts that were pretty funny.

-Raptor...apparently that’s Cassar’s nickname.

-illegal fist to the back...in a dual with Nebraska, the student U announcers were clueless and called for an “illegal fist to the back” at one pont during the Alton match. Video was recently posted of the Ruth match from the same dual, definitely worth a watch!

I know there are plenty more, but I figure this is a good start...feel free to add on, explain further, or correct any of my possible errors.

Can’t wait for the season to start!
