I am not ready to call it by any means, but if Braden takes out Ayala in CHA to start things off it could be a long, check that, longer, sneaker twisting day for TnT.

To be "fair," the lawyer & arbitration were successful, and Zain and Yianni had a redo of the 3rd match on the campus of Wyoming Seminary--just a few miles from Zain's family farm. The partisan home crowd went home satisfied. I sat a row in front of Sem's Beau Bartlett for that one.
Well, to be picky, it was at Wilkes University (my MBA alma mater) not Wyoming Sem, wrong side of the river. And it was about 30 miles from Benton. I was there and met Bo and Anthony (with toothpick of course). Our family had a blast!

Does Sem wrestle there? I thought saw banners, but maybe I’m fabricating that. I guess 30 is a bit more than a few. Still—dang close.

I didn't want to correct you. My daughter attended Wilkes and got to watch the match live on campus between classes. She got to meet Cassar while attending.

I'm not sure where SEM wrestles.

Nope, Sem wrestles at their own facility. Wilkes wrestles there and has the Wilkes open that used to be at Christmas and we used to send some guys, i think I saw the Altons wrestle there years back. Now they have it earlier in December.

And yes, 30 miles is all relative, close for some, others not so close, lol.

Actually, Wilkes-Barre is about 130 miles to both PSU and Cornell

If someone would have told me before the season that our 125 lber would be ranked in the top 4 by multiple wrestling media outlets before February, I would have been ecstatic for Robbie. If they told me it wasn’t Robbie, I would have said Steen just needed to put on the weight. If they told me it wasn’t Steen, I would have said McHenry was a huge pickup.

Davis wasn’t really even on my radar. That prob says something about me, but I’m thrilled for him. And I’m having a lot of fun watching him.

I've always been pretty high on Davis as a recruit. (@CSauertiegPSU will back me up on this) Felt like a huge hidden gem overall that people weren't really talking about. His skillset and style was always excited but a lot of his domination was at lower weights and you always wonder about that. When he went to 120 then 126, he was still more then holding his own but looked maybe a step behind the top kids like Davino.

That being said, I know the coaches were super high on him for a reason. We weren't in his original Top 5 then suddenly he commits, so Casey and Cael clearly saw something they really liked. I thought he was RS, sit a year then make a huge jump in the room by his 3rd year and surprise everyone. I think part of the reason is (beating the dead horse) the fact he looks so young still so I just assumed that must mean he is behind strength wise. Nope, he's just a baby faced assassin. Strength is NOT missing lol.

Did Cael allude to a weight management challenge this week? I thought so. I am just wondering about career 125, as even Lilledahl is raising some questions lately. Definitely a 2025 discussion topic but, a career 125 being in the pipeline may not be a slam dunk.

There aren’t that many of them

He can get some facial hair from DeAugustino and make a fake stache and beard.
He could probably get by with just the beard hair swept up after the DeAgedstino match.

BTW, I heard DeAncientstino has vowed not to cut any hair until end of season. Here's the expected progression analysis.

Anyone else notice how often Braeden messes with his singlet during matches? M&M does a bit too, but not as much as Davis.

Seems like one of our other studs in the past few years was often tugging at his singlet during matches. Bo maybe? Does Cael need to upgrade the team wardrobe?

Was there as well. Lots of star power in the crowd that day.

It’s not the PSU singlet. I’ve seen Davis do the same thing in every match I’ve watched him wrestle. He is definitely always messing with it and pulling it down

That's when he goes into Beast Mode.

And we had a fun dinner at Dugan's after. 🙂

Mat Town Open. Jax has the opportunity to be the 2nd HS'r to knock off a #1 ranked D1 NCAA wrestler this season today.

Plus, there's Lilledahl. If Jax beats Stanich today, it is arguable to say that the top 3 HS wrestlers could be ranked #1, #2 & #3 if they were allowed to compete in the NCAA championships.

125 and 106 - been saying it for years. Yes, some great wrestlers pass through these weights, but winning titles here doesn't mean squat compared to winning in the middleweights.

Only in rare circumstances does the competition have any depth. Even when you point out a bracket like 2012 AAA 106, those kids were a bunch of mostly freshmen and a few sophs - nowhere near the wrestlers they were 2 and 3 years later. College is a bit better because kids grow less, but still, most guys end up moving up so it kills the depth.

Why Not include them. … They earned it

#1 B. Davis
#2 Jax
#3 Lillidahl
4. Ramos
5. Ayala

PSU. Top three with fingers crossed

I guess Marcus Blaze gets no credit for beating Ramos and Jax since he’s not a Penn St recruit.

Really, Blaze’s win over Ramos is much more impressive. Anyone ranking Stanich #1 is just doing it to be edgy, whereas Ramos is an actual contender/favorite.

I would normally agree with this but I'm really not sure now. 125 is really wonky.

Ramos just squeaked by Matt Spangler today. Davis destroyed Spangler a couple of weeks ago. I was thinking that the was a tier of four or so that you could count on just a few days ago, but each competition date that goes by I'm increasingly unsure.

Maybe there really are about 20 guys that could win it. None of whom are as good as a few HSers. Historically weak.

The good news is they still earn the same points at nationals so it should make for some exciting matches.

Regardless, Ramos is one of the contenders/favorites, even if there are 20 guys on the list. Stanich is maybe a fringe contender if he’s even the starter for Lehigh.

Intermat has Stanich 2, so we must be talking about Flo -- and we all know they do Rankings By Hot Take.

But Stanich is not completely meritless: he won Midlands beating Griffin, Sotelo, Barnett, and Flynn. Then beat Ungar in the next dual. That's a 5-match stretch comparable to placing at nationals, and with 4 of those matches in a tournament setting.

In the weird world of 125 this year, anybody who can beat that many quality opponents consecutively is a contender.
