2017 Recruiting Class Thread

I don't know why you are quoting me. Wade is a football player at any height and I've said so many times. Some posters are very hung up on this height thing considering that Wade is about the same size as PSU's two starting CBs. It's tiresome. Let's just hope Wade chooses PSU and then he can put to rest all of this vertical insufficiency blather.

I was shouted down before when I suggested his ball hawking would be great for safety. I think as robber in a zone blitz he would eat up balls.
That would be fine. I think he could move around the secondary and could certainly be a guy who would crash down on occasion. I still see him as a CB though.

so what's up with Jon Lovett (RB)? Is his offer commitable or not...considering he decommitted from Rutgers after his PSU visit but has not committed to us OR Iowa and is now reconsidering Rutgers tells me that PSU nor Iowa will definitively accept his commitment at this time (maybe his new Michigan St offer changes things)...but really, what commit with other good B1G offers (even jersey kids) RECONSIDER Rutgers as their best option?

A while back I was reading that Lovett was a very good DB as well, and he has great size for a DB. The staff may have been considering bringing him in with the option of moving him to Safety if he couldn't get on the field at RB. But with all the high end talent that seemed to get more interested in PSU as the wins piled up it may be that competition for a PSU 2017 class scholarship is too fierce....

We have 3 cb's who have the size to move to safety; Campbell, Oruwariye and Taylor.
None of the 3 are burners either. Which makes a move possible.

I like for Taylor to be back there the most followed by Campbell. I think that AO looked pretty good this year at CB and think that he could be a starter as a RS SR in 2018. Or at the very least get a significant number of snaps.

I watched Lovett's video again. I can see taking him as an athlete and see how it plays out. He's a very good high school running back but not eye popping. He looked good in the few CB plays they showed. I think the staff will take him if they see a spot he can fill if they feel they can spend a spot on him. Iffy, in my barely informed opinion.

Did Taylor get any playing time this year? Very highly regarded coming out of school. Wade or D. Johnson could be great corners to cover slot WRs who also tend to be shorter in stature.

He played in 11 games, mostly on special teams. I think he got a few snaps on defense around when we had injuries to the DBs (near the middle of the season). PSU says that he had 2 tackles this year.

For 2017:
Campbell - Senior
Oruwariye - Redshirt Junior
Taylor - Redshirt Soph

Any of them could move, or obviously none of them. Some DB's can make the transition pretty quickly, but moving a player going into his Senior season may not make sense....

Just like Cam Brown was too tall for LB?? Can we please stop with the you need a certain body type for this position crap?

The staff he picks to play for will use him as they do. All I did was post his tweet and give my opinion.
Why are you so angry recently? I wasn't criticizing you, I was debating the merits of Wade playing other positions besides CB...

Word on Taylor was that his ACL was finally fully healed this year, so he was behind the curve somewhat. I would wager that we see a big uptick in his performance next year, now that he's learned to trust that knee again.

As for Wade playing a different position, I'm surprised that he's not being considered as a RB. I've seen him play live a couple times and on TV a couple more and I like him as a runner. He's short, stocky and powerful. If he's fast enough to play corner, then he certainly is quick enough to play RB and he has the stats to go along with it.

Well we don't have a RB in this class. So you never know.

Returning kicks is another forte of his....

Wade reminds me some of Jabril Peppers. Closest thing we will have to him.

Maybe just maybe we get a kick or punt return for TD for once since D Will.

Keeping Rivers will be as important as anything else going forward.

Would be relieving if perhaps he would comment on all of this idle speculation. By saying nothing, he continues to say something. For example, a congratulatory tweet to Wade would have been a nice signal. If anybody sees anything like that, please let us non-twitter folks know.

Rivers is gone. He wants to inform Franklin and Pry in person after being committed so long. Expected to be after the new year. The resurgence of Tech, playing for his home state, and the fact that his girlfriend is already enrolled played major roles.

Ah, the response from the VT peanut gallery. What brings you to our board so early on a Sunday morning?
