Zain covered this in a post match interview last night. I believe he said they wrestled a few times over the summer. Not sure if he meant in frestyle or workout partner.
if we win a championship Ronny Perry is a big reason for it. Him knocking off Sorenson which put sorenson in a place to cap Hayes run in this tourney was HUGE!

A pin by Zain would be a huge 2 points. Lots of flexibility if that happens. The thing is, Zain only has 2 pins since February. Not exactly sure why, but having a harder time getting it as of late.
There is still a path for tosu to get the title, but it is very dark and very narrow and Lions are lurking around every corner. Zain and Nolf should put PSU out front and Bo will likely seal the deal ( that is even with losses from Cenzo and Hall) if Cenzo beats Imar katy bar the door. Hall looks tough as ever and would love to strike a pose tonight. I see it as just as likely over before Bo even wrestles Martin as it is for tosu to win this thing. Please interview Tom Ryan if PSU is 4-0 going into the Bo /Martin match.

The cards certainly fell perfectly into place for Holshlag to make his run and finish an impressive 5th, but that was a disappointment for UNI indeed.

Same values as rest of tournament. So a pin (by Zain for instance) eliminates the entire 6 point advantage thus reducing the pressure on number of wins needed to at least tie for the team championship,

Possibly. But if Zain pins at 149 we probably will only need to split 165 174 to at least share. We are winning 157.
Maybe this has been said since I am now just watching(catching up), but why wouldn't Nick have "stalled" when he was up 7-5 with 20 seconds left? Serious question

Just a thought, but the 18 year old freshman at times can not help himself. Pedal tp the metal, no matter what.
I expect as his situational IQ grows he will become nearly unbeatable.
Even better would be for PSU to get at least 2.5 bonus points between 149 and 157. Won't be easy, but ...
Miles Kaufmann!!! Here in Cleveland with a few board friends, and we were trying to think of that guy's name yesterday. First loss in any tournament, and that guy was right out on the ledge. No comprehension of big tournament scoring, or severe lack of confidence in the best wrestling coaches of our time.

A pin would be a sweet reward .... it would set the all-time PSU record. No one deserves that more than Zain.
Davis' very comment today that he'll be coaching somewhere else soon definitely suggests that he wasn't ready to retire just yet.
If Zain pins AND Jason and Bo win only by regular decisions (not likely for Nolf), we win by 2 even IF both Mark and Cenzo lose (don't think that happens) and Snyder beats Coon by MD (def don't see that happening). I REALLY like our odds.
I was talking about a scenario where we lose 184 and Snyder wins. Although I don't see that happening - maybe 1 in 5.
If Bo wins - which I think he will - it's over.
