Is Walker now being recruited as a RB or WR? Would have thought he might have been recruited as a TE at Florida.
Dabo Swinney, Kirby Smart and James Franklin have emerged as big-time recruiters on the national scene, and their ability to bring home that much collective five-star talent shows they can be closers, too. Why is that important? Five-star players are the difference-makers. The Bulldogs and Tigers won their conference championships this year and reached the College Football Playoff.
The Nittany Lions have been the stiffest competition for the Buckeyes in the Big Ten the last two seasons. The more difference-makers those schools pick up, the more competition will heat up even more on and off the field.
Remember, this game is all about perception. The College Football Playoff pairings reinforced that one more time.
So do the recruiting rankings. Take another look at that top 10 as of now. That includes all four playoff teams and New Year's Day Six Bowl teams such as Auburn, Miami and Penn State. It's not a fluke.
Penn State landed Parsons along with five-star receiver Justin Shorter (Monmouth Junction, N.J.) and all-purpose back Ricky Slade (Woodbridge, Va.). Franklin recruited well at Vanderbilt. He's on the next level with Penn State.
Saban and Meyer have done that better than everybody else for years. They have company now, however, and Swinney, Smart and Franklin aren't going away. Everybody can see that now.

Who is Montgomery? I think there was a safety in CA and a cornerback from somewhere else who have been mentioned recently, but can’t recall their names.
Another kid from Tampa. If he signs, they’ll have 4 kids from the Tampa area on next years squad. Let me introduce you to a pipeline and with Seider the gator State has been opened.
DB from Fl. Rivals 3 star but everyone else has himas a 4 star thus a 247 composite 4 star.... nice height safety ,,,,,, once a UCLA commit that had interest in PSU (which was mutual) de-committed now taking an official visit. Light weight.... good vertical.... nice films... put him on a Galt program and you may have someone very special.

Anybody know the deal with this kid? Is he initially from the north or something? Taking Maryland seriously seems like really strange behavior from a southern kid with this kind of offer list.
Penn State has moved to slight leader for Ken Montgomery. He is taking OV to State College 2-3 February. Since 4-7 Feb is no communications period PSU will be the last team to talk with him before signing date 7 Feb
Julius Irving is the California CB. IMO, he is leaning toward west coast teams.
Physically, he certainly has the size, speed etc, to be a devastating blocker. I doubt he has any aspirations to do so on a consistent basis.
PS he already playfully asked for a few carries from the new running back coach on twitter.
