FC: Another Penn State walk-on

Offensive lineman Collin De Boef is the latest in a family line to pass through the State College Little Lions high school program and head to a major college football program. His older brothers, Jack and Adam played at Purdue and Penn State respectively.

But De Boef’s role on the Penn State football team won’t be defined for a little while yet. De Boef has accepted a preferred walk-on spot with the Nittany Lions, but as Brian Linder of Pennlive.com writes, Penn State might be getting a steal with the addition of De Boef.

De Boef said he understands his time in the program will developmental in the early years.

“As things progressed, they asked me my senior year if I wanted to come as a walk-on,” he said. “They asked me where I’d like to play, and I told them, ‘Where ever I can help the most.’

Colin De Boef carries 280-pounds on a 6-foot-6 frame and was an all-state lineman for State College in 2017.

Sounds like a very promising PWO.

Wonder if he has a family link to PSU that might provide scholarship assistance.
Or as a State High grad, he may qualify for some academic assistance.

Thanks for posting Roethlisberge.

At least one of his parents does work at PSU. Will only be 17 when he graduates. Should get even bigger.

DB Boykin visiting PSU this Friday/Saturday

DB Noah Boykin will journey to campus alongside his father, according to 247Sports’ Bill Kurelic. This report reveals the 4-star cornerback intends to arrive Friday before heading to Ohio State on Sunday

These stops in State College and Columbus will occur in an unofficial capacity since he’s already used all five allotted official visits. Boykin, a senior at H.D. Woodson (Washington, D.C.) High School, utilized those trips to Florida, Maryland, Notre Dame, Southern Cal and Virginia.

It's just not over till it's over..... CJF leaves no stone unturned, and he likes to use all his opportunities to add talent (i.e. all his available scholarships...)

As we count down to the final signing day, here is a look back at a happy moment from the Dec 20th signing day. Enjoy!

Micah Parson's signing day video...

Sounds good Delco Lion.

Looks like we got a nice fit for our program and our needs, with a sleeper, Colin De Boef.

OSU has also put out 2-3 new offers in the past 7-10 days as well. They now stand at 24 committs. OSU pundits feel the Buckeyes will go over 25 due to counting early-enrolled players back to the previous recruiting class.
Looking at the link and the analysis of the number of OT on the roster of the teams recruiting this kid, apparently tOSU has 14 OT on their roster. Either they don’t have any guards on their roster or they are gluttons when it comes to the OT position.

Other than true Centers, Urban, like CJF, likes to recruit big athletic olinemen that can play pretty much anywhere and then see where they really excel as they develop. My guess is that you are correct in that their roster is filled with "OT's"....

I don’t see him on the 2017 6A all State team:

Not that I’m opposed to this kid as a PWO, but the kid that I know was/is a second team all State o lineman from Cumberland valley. Both parents are Penn State grads, and he is an Eagle Scout and at the top of his class academically. He would have given his left “you know what” to walk on to Penn State.

Sounds like a class guy who would be great on the team, at the right spot.

OL Jake Fetterolf Sr.
6-3 275
Cumberland Valley
If he wants to walk-on, perhaps there is still an opportunity. At 6-3, might he have a shot at DT, if he could gain good weight?

BTW - Even though he was a 1st Team All-Conference OT with Colin De Boef, he doesn't appear to be listed by any of the three major recruiting sites. Perhaps he didn't go to camps, was a tad small at 6-3 or was a late bloomer?

He’s going to Johns Hopkins now... apparently never got any love from Penn State

As GregInPitt posted, CJF seems to be going for big athletic tackle sized linemen across the OL, with an exception for good centers.

Perhaps the opportunities for 6-3 OL are somewhat limited now, if we can pull in taller talent.

Here is a link. Need to click sound.

Boykin is the only 2018 late recruit that he mentions PSU going after. Discusses SAB and Enis. Feels Enis picks the Lions, SAB told him at last months Orlando bowl he was waiting on ACT test results, and was confident he would be signing-but that remains to be seen. Noah Kain is the Florida 2019 RB that the Lions offered.

Hey, free recruiting info, but why are all of these updates 45 minutes to an hour long? I'm interested if they can condense this into 5 minutes or less. Most people don't have an hour to kill just listening to a podcast.

Agree, I moved the video along with my mouse and did my best to pick up the highlights.

Andrew Lind. Wonder when he switches his CB to Penn State?

JUST A SMALL NOTE
Speaking of Walker, I was told by sources close to his family the above-mentioned visit with Meyer, offensive line coach Greg Studrawa and defensive line coach and area recruiter Larry Johnson went well. He is not conducting interviews at this time, so I was unable to contact him directly for comment.

That said, Walker is likely to keep everyone in the dark on what he's thinking until he makes his college announcement on Wednesday. It's my understanding, though, he'll listen to what Penn State head coach James Franklin and his staff has to say during their in-home visit this evening before taking the weekend to assess the situation with his family.

As I mentioned in last night's edition ofThe Hurry Up, Walker's recruitment is very much a toss up. He has a strong relationship with the Nittany Lions, but the depth chart and the opportunities presented in life after football seems to favor the Buckeyes.

Andrew Lind....Does this Phucktard have a clue.... Like a dildo that doesn't get results, he keeps pushing this fantasy.... and the opportunities presented in life after football seems to favor the Buckeyes.

Seriously Andy...... you might want to introduce yourself to the much greater opportunities in life after football presented to PSU players. Or, since you prefer to be redundantly ignorant..... keep banging the hollow drum.

Are the opportunities for Penn State football players really much better?

I found this funny quote on Andrew Lind's latest article. Apparently the PSU fan base is not very active.

"Its a good thing for PSU that recruits don't decide on where to go based on how active the fan base is. Roar Lions Roar is pathetically lacking interaction from the fans. I went over there just now to get their take on Walker, and damn, the amount (or lack of) comments on those articles is pretty sad.Its a good thing for PSU that recruits don't decide on where to go based on how active the fan base is. Depends on where you live "after football", I suppose. Penn State almost certainly has a larger alumni presence than Ohio State from NYC down through DC, NOVA, and the Tidewater area. Walker lives just south of DC right now.

Ohio State was #12

Top 25 Recruiters Picks

Updated June 2nd, 2015 by College Atlas

Below are the Top 25 schools whose graduates were the top-rated by corporate recruiters according to a recent report published by the Wall Street Journal.

Penn State is the No. 1 school in the country among recruiters from leading companies, nonprofits and government agencies, according to a survey by The Wall Street Journal.

The newspaper surveyed 479 recruiters and asked them to identify the schools "whose bachelor degree graduates were the best-trained and educated, and best able to succeed once hired."

Recruiters also like Penn State's "excellent career placement office that works well with students and alumni." And of all the universities where survey respondents said they actively recruit, Penn State had the most mentions with 187.

  1. Penn State University
    penn-state-logo.gif
Penn State University (also known as PSU) is a public, four-year university that is classified by the Carnegie Foundation as a university with “high research activity”. Penn State’s main campus is located in University Park, Pennsylvania, but the school has 24 campuses (19 commonwealth and 5 special-mission) located throughout the state.

Someone should tell Lind it's hard to set your players up for life if they're not graduating. OSU is dead last in the conference in graduation rate. PSU is 3rd behind NW and Nebraska. Then have Walker talk to John Reid after his internship with Intel or pull up the Wall Street Journal's rankings of the most recruited college campuses and have OSU staring up at PSU's top ranked position there.

Forgive my ignorance here, but what exactly is a "dildo that doesn't get results"?

Not to interrupt you when you are on a roll, but aren't all drum's hollow or else they wouldn't make much noise?

Yes especially baseless drums..... :)

http://news.psu.edu/story/166914/2010/06/01/penn-state-among-top-producers-sp-500-ceos Where is OSU in this list.

OSU does offer more undergraduate majors.... Where PSU offers Landscape architecture for example OSU offers 5 or 6 renamed Landscape Architecture majors for example..one emphasizing trees,,,, one tubers.... etc etc.

Below is PSU's graduate and doctorate program rankings
http://gradschool.psu.edu/prospective-students/nrc/

So, the dick is just a shill for OSU football and really nothing else.

Walker previews decision

It’s a troublesome business trying to predict where a kid is leaning in videos like this, but you have to like the way he talks about Penn State and State College.

I think that the lack of crystal balls moving OSU’s way (like what happened with Tyreke Smith) after Walker’s official visit and both coaches’ in-home visits is a great sign.
