2018 Recruiting Thread

Dear Andrew Lind:

Andrew, you are welcome to list all the categories where OSU is elite as a university.
I believe that Ohio St is No. 1 in freshmen RBs from poor neighborhoods driving expensive SUVs from their upscale apartments to eventually wind up arrested in a vehicle full of weapons running from the mob.

Not particularly flattering toward Penn State. He doesn't seem enamored with State College. The game atmosphere at vo tech and Penn State are both "ridiculous". He didn't differentiate the two. He talked a lot about Tosu and meyer.

Maybe I'm reading too much into this.

Really? He seemed to love State College. Watch it again. He says "State College" and then shakes his head and smiles like he can't even think of the words.

YMMV.

The other thing is many of these kids want to keep everyone guessing right up until they reveal their choice. Think of Parsons' video.

Looking at that video, if I were completely unattached and unaware of what this was all about, I'd probably not be all that confident about our chances. I don't know when that was shot; if they mentioned it, I missed it. Anyhow, he seems to prefer a city environment.

As well, I will admit, I couldn't understand half of what he was saying.

Maybe Judge is right, but I lean more towards Bob's interpretation. On the other hand, we still have geography on our side.

I have to run, but I'll watch the video again, Judge. He obviously didn't show his hand in that video, but he did talk a lot about Tosu and meyer.

I think this is the main point. Walker isn't going to wait all this time w/o announcing a college decision and then randomly let his favorite slip in a video he releases himself before his announcement. I'd try not to pull too many clues out of there.

Good on Walker for making the entire Penn State and Ohio State fan base guess. He's basically Punk'd millions of people, good on him. That said, I'm going to add my own baseless speculation... I think he's ours. He's obviously a pretty subtle prankster, so I'm going to interpret his accidental on purpose outtake in which he talks about the creamery as a sign he's coming to the good guys. Also, in the beginning of the video The Voice describing his skill set sounds a lot like Ross Tucker... Maybe a bridge too far :)

You actually caused me to laugh out loud and have tears at the same time. I think I'm a bit emotional after two family members passed in Jan. Thanks for the comic relief, it was outstanding.

At my age you lose a friend or a close family member often.... it actually seems like we lose several a month at times.. Em and I have lost both our parents in the past 6 years.... I come to this board of looney tunes for relief.... mostly it works.... some take themselves too seriously.

Why Should they be? And at this point what would you expect PSU to do. Seems to me PSU has done all any program can do at this point and so has OSU and VT. So, it is time for Mr Walker to look over what he wants to look over, however he wants to do it and make a decision and that will be that.

Sorry to hear of your losses Joe.

My mother and father have both passed and I miss them dearly.

I wish you comfort sir.

Know that they are still with you; they live on inside you.

Ohio State fan. It seems that it comes down to depth chart (OSU) who doesn’t have a OT in the class, vs relationship which favors PSU. At the end of the day it’s typically comfort and relationships that seal the deal which favor PSU. Most OSU fans think it will be PSU in a few days.

I don't know... I just listened to Steve Wiltfongs Big Ten recruiting wrap up for 2018. He went through all the remaining targets for most of the Big Ten schools and didn't mention Penn State until the very end and at that only mentioned that this upcoming weekend is a 2019 Junior Day.. nothing about remaining 2018 targets

Did he given any indication sir that OSU leads for Walker at all?

Thanks in advance.

I think I linked the wrong quote but the right poster.

Yes, I expect to make the trip back to PA possibly two more times this year, after tomorrow's trip for the same reason, losing family. My age is hitting the sweet spot on the endless funeral procession march too Rip.
Funny, always referred to our daughter as Em, short for Emily. She is 36 and still my little girl.

The Walker situation is so fluid and that is the way he wants it to be as someone else mentioned our Harrisburg recruit did the same thing before announcing. We will wait, patiently, until he makes his decision. He likely will do well at any of the schools but PSU is relatively close and is trending up at a dizzying pace. You never know the goals and ambitions of these young men unless they disclose them and that sometimes gives a clue but not this time.

So far you a doing a stellar job of maintaining your New Year's resolution to be pleasant...what's up with that?

I posted that to:

See if he would respond and offer in-kind.

He did not.

I smoked him out on another post.

He hasn't changed.

He is still the most despicable narcissistic person here on this board.

His ultimate demise is long overdue.

I fear him not.

I am pleasant sir.

Even though it is well past new Years; Happy New Year to you and yours!!

My only concern for recruits with which we have built a long and honest relationship at this point is if tO$U has introduced them to a wealthy friend of the school ala the kid from Jeannette.

and PSU cannot introduce many wealthy graduates to recruits? Sometimes these posts cross the line of silly...... unless you are not fully saying what you mean.

There was a wealthy donor behind this former #1 overall recruit's choice and it was well documented. I'm just saying that there is a big history of this at tO$U. Perhaps rivaling what we seen recently at Bama and the SEC. There is a reason that tO$U players have been quoted along the lines of didn't come here to play school.

I am not big on innuendo. This is much much better than innuendo. It is clear, to the point and makes perfect sense.
