2018 Senior World Cup

Green gets four takedowns to win 8-0.

John Smith talked a lot about how Green needs to stay on his offense and go for the Tech and not just slow down -- refreshing to hear (and he's been consistent saying this about everyone)... further proof Heil probably took years off his life.

Further proof JOHN took years off Heil’s life. He should have been up at 149 two years ago

This is the best atmosphere in the world, hands down," said Kyle Dake, a former Cornell star. "These fans are insane."

Former Nittany Lion David Taylor (86 kilograms/189 pounds): “They’re great fans here. We all know that. Most of the time (in the past), I’m getting booed running through here. It’s great.”

Jordan Burroughs — a former Cornhusker who is arguably the country’s most accomplished active wrestler — gave full respect to not only the fans here but the Iowa wrestling program and tradition, too.

“I’m a Husker fan — not a Hawkeye fan — but I love it here. The atmosphere’s amazing,” Burroughs said. “It’s the mecca of wrestling. Thomas Gilman’s my teammate. I spent time at Dan Gable’s house. Been in the sauna with Tom and Terry Brands. Royce Alger’s roaming the hallways telling bad jokes. It’s been an amazing week.”

Doesn't last to score win?
Sometimes, but it's not that simple. For instance, in a 2-2 match, if Wrestler A gets his two via pushouts, and Wrestler B gets his two from a takedown, Wrestler B holds criteria regardless of when the points were scored. Only if the two wrestlers got their points in more or less the same way does the last score apply. Often that's how it is though.

Happy for Maple, he could've been 3-0 this weekend, but got out-veteraned earlier.

Again, Gilman would have lost on criteria - AZE had a 4pt feet-to-back for criteria edge.

For those who follow International wrestling more closely than me, when did the UWW switch from the wrinkly "blue tarp" (Foeldeak) mats to foam rubber?

65kg Streibler

Cox hesitated on the OOB takedown by AZE. Looked like he thought it would only be a push out and expected the whistle. Shows how important it is to keep wrestling on the edge and not anticipating the whistle.

Thanks NBC, nice production, no dumb Quint K questions. Smith provides good commentary. Also, nice recognition of Sebastiano Fidone, the 6 yo boy battling leukemia who has been carrying the flag for the USA team.

Those wrinkly mats always made me think that they were, at some point, going to play “Twister.”
