Again, I'm setting this up early.

Please use this thread to discuss PSU matches, matches of other wrestlers/teams, etc. If replying to another post, please use the Quote function.

Time:
11 am EDT

TV:
ESPNU

Video Streaming:
All 8 mats will be streamed on ESPN3. You can access the stream, which begins at 11 am EDT, at this link:

http://www.espn.com/watch/schedule/?channel=3e99c57a-516c-385d-9c22-2e40aebc7129&type=upcoming

Audio Streaming:
Byers' radio PBP will be streamed for free. The pre-tournament show starts at 10:40 am EDT, at:

https://gopsusports.com/watch/?Live=253&type=Live

Mat Assignments:
Myself and others will post them as we learn of them. You can get them from multiple sources. FloArena has them, and TrackWrestling's Dashboard is another good source. Penn State Wrestling's twitter (@pennstateWREST) often posts mat assignments as well.

Team Score:
that can be followed on Track, or on FloArena. IMHO, the best place to follow the team race is on the Penn State Wrestling Club's web site (https://pennstatewrestlingclub.org).

Plans for the tournament: I had previously indicated that I'd have to leave early in during Session 3. That was mostly mistake, as I thought it ran from noon - 3. I should be around for all of Session 3, or until nearly the end. I also expect to be able to provide PBP for Session 4. I'll not be around to provide PBP for Session 5. Lastly, while I'll create a Session 6 Thread, and post in it, by tradition I don't provide PBP during the finals.

Session 3 observations:

PSU: Is favored in all 9 matchups. Let us hope that turns out to be true...….with Bonus

tOSU: Is favored in 9 of 10 matchups. Fleetwood is favored over Malik.....but he is tough. Let us hope that 9 is NOT so true.

Iowa: Is favored in 6 or 7 matches.....depending on whether you think Micic is anywhere close to 100%. I think not. Iowa favored in 7 matches. If you think Stoll is not the betting favorite.....you need a timeout in the Stall bin. :) Let's hope it is less.

Okie State: favored in 7 or 8 of their matches.....depending on your take on Lydy/Geer. Lets keep the bonus to a minimum.

Dhesi scored an 18-1TF against Haines in Rnd 2 and gets Steveson in the quarters. That's going to be an interesting match.

Dehsi has gotten better as the year went on......just like last year. 3 of the 4 best heavyweights in the land ( and some would argue....THE 3 best ) are on the same side of the bracket. Your Stoll welcome :)

I always want more domination for PSU, but I'm thrilled with where we're at so far. Still on track to easily win the tourney and even threaten the team scoring record.

Props to Iowa, who is doing better than I expected. OKST has tripped up a bit. Looks to me like tOSU has the inside lane to 2nd place now, with Iowa and OKST fighting for 3rd (my revised bracket has them tied in the end). After seeing how Matt Stencel manhandled Demetrius Thomas, I think he's a formidable opponent for Derek White. Won't be surprised by either one wining that one.

Goofing around with the interactive brackets, it looks to me like the matches below are the possible/probable paths RBY and Berge will have to navigate to AA. Tough road for both, but not impossible.

RBY may need to get past:
1. (9) Chaz Tucker (CORN)
2. (15) Ben Thornton (PUR)
3. (5) Luke Pletcher (OHST)

Berge may need to get past:
1. (22) Henry Pholmeyer (SDSU)
2. (20) Tommy Thorn (MINN)
3. (10) Pat Lugo (IOWA)

To secure 3rd place, I suspect Shak will have to get past this group:
1. (17) Andrew McNally (KENT)
2. (26) Dakota Geer (OKST)
3. (13) Nino Bonaccorsi (PITT)
4. (8) Ryan Preisch (LEH)
5. (10) Samuel Colbray (ISU)
6. (4) Emery Parker (ILL)

I’ll take Micic and Wood. Micic blew him out last year after his first feel, even 90% I think he knows how to keep DeSanto from his offense and he has looked healthy enough to me. And I’m not buying the hype with Stoll. He is looking pretty good, but a woefully over seeded and undersized Parris and Jennings are much different than a solid guy like Wood. I think Stoll has a decent chance, but I think people are getting too excited based on an advantageous draw.

so for those at work that are going to secretly have Byers on at a low level, start is at 11AM, when do you project about when RBY will actually get on the mat (assuming he is the first PSU wrestler)?

I believe that Stoll's chances of winning almost any match depends on how the officials penalize the push out rule.

He is in the hole per track, so 10-15?

I’ll take the over for both. I would only pick two hawks, but I bet they pick up another between DeSanto, Young, and Stoll.

The Hawkeyes had a nice 1st day, but IMO they will still finish behind the Buckeyes.

A month ago I felt that Okie St would take 2nd, but John Smith's late season weight cut plan pretty much scuttled their chances. Joe Joe replacing Rogers at 165 to make room for Geer never did seem like a good idea.

Favorite day of the wrestling year. Here's where we separated from the pack. We find out who is the pretenders who are the contenders. Can't wait for it to start!

Is anyone worried about the Buckeyes? They could have 4 advance in consolations to the next session
