2021 Recruiting Class Thread

I think if I was the father of a 4 star QB recruit( I am not, and never will be, my boys might grow to be 5"8') I'd ask for this as well. I am sure many will scream "what about competition," but that is the same group that gets pissed off when a good QB transfers off the roster before his career is done. Candidly, this is the only chance to catch the Alabama's and O$U's of the world. Convince these kids, high 4 star/5 star caliber players that they have just as much of a chance(probably more) being a career backup at a place like O$U as a pose to ever realizing their opportunity. Just think, Burrow and Tate Martell come to mind immediately. Yea, it's so cool playing for the best of the best, but if you are going to win the 1(!) QB job at the school, you are literally going to have to be the best of the best. OR, you can go to a school that has an easier path to the top while still maintaining the right to play for titles and championships. I have no problem with the kid saying, hey, if i come here, I want to be the 1 and only in my class. If you don't like it, thats fine, I'll go play somewhere else. He is still going to have to compete against the rest of the QB's on the roster.

So, which one of our QBs will be transferring and/or changing positions? Or do we keep six QBs on scholarship? Have heard Johnson Jr. is quite an athlete so maybe a position change? Hard time seeing all these guys staying with PSU.
Scholarship QBs (assuming Clifford doesn't leave for NFL after next year):
2020: Clifford, Levis, Roberson, Johnson Jr., Bowens
2021: Clifford, Levis, Roberson, Johnson Jr., Bowens, Veilleux
Oh I see how it benefits penn state to have 4 or 5 or 6 or 7, four star qbs, I just dont see how it benefits their careers

Pretty sure my comment was related to our current QB commit and his comment about being the only QB in this class. Here’s another question you won’t like either - since when do recruits tell Franklin how and who to recruit?
I feel like this bit of information was held and released today on purpose because a certain other QB prospect trimmed his list.

It is an enormous cliche.
But, I admittedly have no idea if there's genuine mutual interest there. And he just committed to Tennessee this past week, I believe.
Top 15? LOL.
Some kids enjoy reveling in the spotlight more than others. I certainly don't blame him.....I hope he enjoys the moment.
On the Nittany Lions: "Coach Phil Trautwein reached out and wanted us to get out to campus for a visit but obviously we couldn't make it happen before everything was shut down. So he extended the scholarship offer anyway and it was big. It's one of the schools that I always thought about and hoped to get an offer from and I'm definitely interested. I've liked watching their games on TV since I was younger and immediately knew I'd have interest based on the reputation. Coach Trautwein has been great to catch up with on the Zoom calls and I really like the virtual tour I took of the school. I'm excited to see where the relationship goes."

Yeah.....I've got a feeling that we're going to see a record # of decommitments nationally, and I suspect signing day is going to be a circus.
Any commitment by a kid who hasn't been on campus or wasn't able to visit some of the other top contenders should probably be viewed cautiously at this point. Fortunately for us, Tengwall seems about as rock solid as a verbal can be at this point.

4 out of 4 CBs for PSU. Has offers from Alabama, Auburn, FSU, OSU, UM, etc.
Louisville? Cincinnati? Wouldnt' surprise me to see him stay local.
Though it seems LSU is recruiting him, so all bets are off.
Louisville/Cinci always seemed like the favorites but his recent comments about committing without visits might mean he favors LSU at the moment. Not really sure, but pretty positive it's not PSU.
Grades. If Cincy, Louisville and L$U are your top three it’s pretty certain you aren’t a top student.
