2021 Recruiting Class Thread

8 more is 19. You burnt the place down claiming 17. I still think it gets to 23. Lot of conversations coming

Nope. What I said was quoting Terry Smith, the only real information that was out at that time - just less than 10 less than the 27 from 2020. Which is 17-19. That's what T.Smith said during his interview. Nearly 10 less than the 27 from 2020, which pretty much can be interpreted as 19. The roster is so young now that there really are not many candidates to grad transfer before the 2020 season. But there may be a few additional players that qualify after the 2021 season thru the end of the Winter/Spring semester.

Hey, I'd love it if CJF could take all the 4 and 5 star OL talent he is still in the game for as well as all the talented WR's, a 4 star RB, 3 or 4 true DE's, 1 or 2 talented OLB's and some more DB's (Davis, McMillon...). But according to T. Smith, and looking at the roster, it is hard to expect it to play out that way.

you said Smith said 17. He didn't. Clearly you are not good at math. Nearly 10 less than 27 is at least 18
give it up already

Yep, give it up. I only quoted Smith, and as I remember linked T.Smith's interview so the skeptics could hear the opinion of the coaches. And yes, you now did a fine job with the math from weeks ago, that just less than 10 less than 27 is around 18 or so.... Which is as we all know fluid....

And this is why I never worry about the number of available scholarships until well later than this. Too many variables too many things that can happen this summer with regard the kids leaving, injuries like the rivers kid at VTech, grades, etc

I never worry about scholarship limits. I've heard that Franklin may have taken over that responsibility. I've taken Joe's tact as I age....not recruiting anymore either.

I hope that doesn’t happen

Only 8 kids exhaust their eligibility this year, and we’re at 87 currently. That means 17 kids have to leave with eligibility in the next 15 months.

15 months is basically two off seasons. How many left last year? Injuries, early entry, rule violations and transfers add up.

Micah, Pat, Journey, Oweh, Walker, CJ

4 transfers, 3 knuckleheads, 2 injuries, and a partridge in a pear tree.

something like that.

Always look at the kids who will get their degrees in May. Franklin always tells them that they will be in a position to graduate in three years. That’s the opportunity. To get a PSU diploma. After they do, his and PSU’s obligations are done. Typically 4-5 5th yr seniors stay. They always need to be recruiting 20-25 kids every year.

I'd be shocked if PSU typically (in Franklin years) has 4-5 5th year seniors

We will have more than 4 transfers in 15 months. We need 2 just to get down to 85.

Based on the most recent draft results with Georgia and Bama o-linemen going together, you have to think the o-line recruits are due to start collaborating. If a bunch of high-end guys go to the same school, they make each other look good and everyone gets drafted. Sort of reverse skill position thinking where you avoid the log jam at one school for more playing time at another.
