2021 Recruiting Class Thread

Rucci, Prather, Buddin, Newton, Thornton, Gilliam, Pounds, Ingram-Dawkins. Seems like a semi-realistic finish. No insider knowledge just guessing. Davis and McMillon could also be in there.

It would be a fantastic finish to this class, but that's probably a best case scenario.

I imagine Ingram-Dawkins stays down south. George Wilson might be a DL candidate, though. Not sure how many DEs we're targeting in this class.

We'd probably need to add a TE in there somewhere.

Isn't Gandy a 2022 class prospect?
He’s 2022

I went by his Rivals account, which indicates 2021. However, his Twitter account indicates he's a 2022 prospect.

An unranked reciever for 2021? Does this feel like an ominous sign about prather and Thornton?

Never read too much into new offers. There's the aforementioned question about his actual class. Plus, while Rivals lists him as a WR, his twitter account shows him to be a DB.

Like you, med and Wiz, I'd be ok without a RB as well unless it's Donovan Edwards.

Here's my reasonably optimistic attempt at our final class (8 new guys in bold):

QB Christian Veilleux

WR Lonnie White, Jr
WR Liam Clifford
WR Dont'e Thornton
WR Kaden Prather

OL Landon Tangwell
OL Nate Bruce
OL Nolan Rucci
OT Diego Pounds

DE Rodney McGraw

ILB Kobe King
LB Jamari Buddin

CB Kalen King
CB Jeffrey Davis Jr
CB De'Jahn Warren
FS Zakee Wheatley
SS Jaylen Reed
SS Derrick Davis, Jr
DB Donovan McMillon

PK Sander Sahaydak

--------
That would give us 251.33 points in the 247 class calculator (link) in a smallish class with 20 commits, which pulls us close to last year's 256 points with 27 signees. Swap Diego Pounds with Rocco Spindler and that brings us up to 259.53 points. --------

Others:
RB Donovan Edwards
WR Jalil Farooq
WR Andrel Anthony
OL Rocco Spindler
OT Tristan Leigh
OL Dellinger, Kendall, Fairchild
CB Tony Grimes
DT Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins
DE George Wilson
TE

Somehow I feel we'll get a surprise from that remaining OL group.
Derrick Davis, De'Jahn Warren and Donovan McMillon, hard to say no to any of those additions in the defensive backfield; and you can't say no to Tony Grimes if he'd like to be the cherry on top on National Signing Day.
This is the closest to what I think will happen, but I just believe it’s two short of DL. I know 20 is being reported, but they’ll find a way to get to 22. There’s some gamesmanship in saying 20 right now, or insinuating less. There’ll be a TE, can’t say which. This isn’t being reported by insiders, but reading the tea leaves I’m just not sure Buddin is a take right now.

Ok, swap out Buddin (or McMillon) and add 2 DL and 1 TE to reach 22.

WR Dont'e Thornton
WR Kaden Prather

TE We are in on 2-3 4-star TEs

OL Landon Tangwell

DT Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins or Kelvin Gilliam
DE Rodney McGraw
DE George Wilson

ILB Kobe King

CB Kalen King
CB Jeffrey Davis Jr
CB De'Jahn Warren

Is ‘read’ in the past or present tense in that sentence?

TEAMS WITH TOP COMMITS: Penn State, Ohio State, Minnesota
zcgamxry54dzeudmsnqr

When it comes to defensive back recruiting, the Big Ten is on fire. Penn State, Ohio State and Minnesota have early commitments from some of the top cornerbacks and safeties in the country.

Michigan four-stars Jaylen Reed and Kalen King and Maryland four-star Zakee Wheatley headline the Nittany Lions’ 2021 secondary haul. Ohio State’s No. 1-ranked class features commitments from the nation’s No. 2-ranked cornerback, Jakailin Johnson, in addition to Tennessee four-star Andre Turrentine and in-state cornerback Devonta Smith. Minnesota caught fire on the recruiting trail this spring and has a commitment from four-star cornerback Avante Dickerson and four-star safety Steven Ortiz to show for it. Three-star Georgia safety Darius Green recently committed as well.

More impressive: These Big Ten teams have a combined eight commitments from defensive backs thus far and the teams from Ohio, Pennsylvania and Minnesota hold verbals from prospects in Tennessee, Maryland, Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio, Arizona, Georgia and Missouri.

Well he hasn't made it on campus yet, so hard to imagine he picks the good guys, but you never know.

He's been to Washington twice, Tennessee, USC and Oregon.

Edit: Looks like Crystal Balls are split between PSU and Washington. Not sure how many total CBs were logged.

Georgia and UCLA made his final top 6. Brock Bowers is trending to Dogs so believe they're out. Coach Bowen is recruiting him hard. Would be excellent get. Would set us up nice for recruiting Vegas talent down the road.

Things look good for Matavao right now - this feels like a recruitment that won't be over when he commits though.

Getting a verbal from this kid before a campus visit tells me how much he must either connect with Bowen or Bowens (or both). So that's good.

And unless he just hates central PA, the campus, or the atmosphere, I don't imagine a visit -- once conditions allow -- would hurt us.

The kids I'd be worried about decommitting are those who commit without having visited some of their other top contenders. Because once they're able to take those visits, those other schools will be able to show their stuff and perhaps change minds. But if he has already visited most of his other favorites, and STILL picks us.......that's positive.

But yeah......Have to keep recruiting him if we're fortunate enough to land him on May 27th.

Also, Kelvin Gilliam with his first crystal ball -- this one to Oklahoma by an OU insider.

TJ Bollers with another CB to Wisconsin.

Malik Newton with a CB to Pitt. Doubt we're really recruiting him very hard -- if at all.

Weird seeing new 2021 offers to WRs, concerning in prather and thornton
Sometimes you go on a date with someone and they ask you to make it official and you slow play because you want to go on a few other dates with other people. In the mean time you see on social media they are going on dates too with other people and it makes you realize you gotta lock it down.
