Davis didn't wrestle, can't complain about losing if you don't wrestle.
No one to blame but himself there. Didn’t push the action at all until final 25 seconds.

Action starts, then stops because of a clock issue, or something
Back at it. Davis pushing forward, guys tying up, then break & they're back to the center of the mat.
More tie ups & Figs on the edge again, but circles back in & they're back to the center.
Figs back on the edge, but moves back to the center.
Tie ups, and quick breaks, then back outs. Figs seems to prefer a little space. He doesn't seem to like staying tied up.
Davis keeps pushing forward. Figs on the edge again.
Figs shoots a single, Davis sprawls, scrambling, Davis tries a roll & they go off the edge, restart.
Both guys being pretty cautious
End of period, no scoring.

Davis sits out, looking for hand control, spins & gets the escape 1-0
Tying up in the center of the mat now. Figs moving backwards to the edge. They break & move back to center.

Now Davis can’t complain when he spends a quarter of neutral on his knee and doesn’t get called
Don't bitch about stalling when you were on 1 knee half the match
Not sure what Davis was so upset about. He really seemed to have an issue with being ridden.
When you play with fire, you can get burned. You gotta put on the pace when you know they are going to stall to keep it close. It's the only alternative. Trust your defense and push it.
Bad wrestling on both guys, Davis played into Figs plan.
Bad look all around for him. He couldn't get out from bottom, spent all of his time in neutral on a knee and then cried about stalling when he did it the whole match.
Boy you all watched a different Davis match than me.
Not sure what they are reviewing in the Ayala match, looked like a clear takedown.
Anybody have any idea what Davis might have been complaining about to the ref while on bottom in the 3rd period? Had his hands up in the air and was talking to him instead of trying to get out.
What was Davis complaining about to the ref in the last part of the match? Was he claiming that Figs grabbed the singlet?
Figs did lock hands twice.
Breadon was complaining to the ref instead of wrestling on bottom and neutral, freshmen mistake he will learn.

I missed the locked hands. Either way, get out and tell your coaches.
Didn't care how Braeden acted but he's a true freshman...he'll learn. I like his fire tho..
I’d have to go back and look. But I think Davis locked his hands on the “gut wrench” right before he gave up the reversal
Never ever try to call your own penalty
Davis was moving forward more than Figs, but you aren't going to get 2 stall calls in the last minute if you haven't taken a shot up until that point.
Figs backed up a lot in that match without one warning from the refs, kind of hard to get to your offense.
Still got to love having him on the team. Big surprise. Hope he can make a run on the back side and do some damage. I believe he also was arguing about locked hands, while trying to get out from bottom as well, and he actually stopped wrestling to talk to the ref at that point. Again, what a super surprise to have Davis wrestling at this level as a true frosh
And what did Braeden do the first 6:30 to warrant any stalls?
He (Figs) also had the only 2 legit TD attempts in the first 6:40 seconds of the bout
Davis is probably the best defensive specialists at that weight. He slows everybody down. My guess is it's a combination of length and really strong hands. Nobody can move him.

Sure, but Figs is the only one who attempted any wrestling moves the first 6:50 and his first stall was bad. Davis didn't earn that call.
That's it, you can win a lot of matches by doing that but you can't win titles. Sooner or later you're going to slip or make a small error and get burned. Davis was also stupid for crying to the ref for locked hands instead of trying to get out.
I wish that was true. But history (especially at nationals) says otherwise.
