2024 Olympics Wrestling (merged)

Also never thought that rhythmic gymnastics or synchronized swimming were Olympic worthy.

I honestly can not hate on synchronized swimming. Have you ever watched it??? I get that its literally water dancing. But holy sh*t is is impressive.

Not to mention they're literally ready to die for that ish. We joke about it, but those girls mean it. Check out the story below about the picture.

Handball, really, I have never seen a true handball court, not a league or any national interest. Is this sport for countries where the people have no feet!

3 on 3 basketball for countries who suck at normal basketball!

Rythim gymnastics for gymnists who are not competitive at the real thing!

Honest to god, let's be real, all of these are pretty much offered up as compensation for marginalized athletes and countries. Next will be participation trophies.

Then you take one of the oldest sports in history and screw over world champions by forcing them to do unnatural things with their weight just to get a chance to compete against world champions at their natural weight.

The IOC is woke, I blame USA wrestling and the other country level organizations for Iran, Russia, and ask the other countries with strong programs. A travesty.

PS - Reluctantly, I am in for dropping Greco if it comes to that.
Handball is pretty competitive in Europe - just not here. Agree with Rhythmic Gymnastics and few other newly judged games. Synchronized swimming has been around for awhile and appreciate what and how they do 'it'. Such a made for tv event - which means $$ - vs. athletic competition

UWW adds new sports for every Olympics.

Wrestling fans, every year: cut other sports to make room for us.

Why are we collectively so dense, defeatist, and mean-spirited?
I don't watch most Olympic sports so adding breakdancing doesn't really bother me, but it is frustrating to see a sport like wrestling, with a 20,000 year history, have to squeeze down to 6 IOC weights from the 10 UWW weights every four years while entirely new "sports" with maybe a 50 year history are added. If the IOC used the full 10 weights then fans wouldn't complain (much).

The argument does not need to be "cut one of those (insert sacrifice here) sports" and add wrestling.

The argument needs to be more in line with wrestling uses 10 weights for 3 years and the IOC then minimizes the sport and causes harm to world class athletes by forcing massive weight cuts. The focus needs to be on wrestling, wrestlers and the damage the IOC causes athletes by forcing unhealthy weight loss. Repeat it at every opportunity. Plus, have conversations with Russia, Iran and Japan about staying on message and collectively promoting this perspective.

I hate 6 spots. UWW needs to fight hard. right now. or drop greco.
Greco will never be dropped unfortunately. Outside of the US it is huge and in some countries it’s bigger than freestyle (Norway as an example). I’m pretty sure it’s on equal footing in massive wrestling countries like Iran and Russia as well. I’m not a fan but I sure wish we as a country could improve in greco. We are so far behind right now. I think kids getting into greco when they are young would absolutely help in folkstyle. Handfighting is so important in folk and that’s what greco is all about

as an aside - the Greco Olympic weights are WAY better

60, 67, 77, 87, 97, 130

Cruz with the pin over Egypt!

Gotta root for Higuchi in the semi's to keep Cruz alive. With Sarlak missing weight, Cruz would go right to the bronze match against Sehrawat tomorrow. I know the young man. Pulling for him.

Paramount is a CBS property, right? Prolly won't find squat there. But Peacock is what you need.

Let’s go Spencer!!!!

I didn’t realize his mom was such an accomplished judoka

**** yes Spencer!! Absolute mauling. 12-0 tech in 2:23. His par terre game is so ****ing good

Maybe not. Challenge from UZB and he wins the challenge. Good call after seeing the replay. So it’s 10-4 now. Doesn’t matter. He ragdolls Abdullaev for 2 and 2 about 10 seconds later. What a performance! Probably the best I’ve ever seen him!!

Tying up & hand fighting, Lee shoots again, nothing
Back to the tie up & hand fighting, Abdullaev has double unders, but Lee counters for another TD, 4-0, adds a turn & another, 8-0 & adds a final turn for the Tech, 10-0
