2025 Big Ten Tournament thread

Davis tries to put himself on his own back.
It looked like the ref could have
What do you think they can do about gassing in the next 2 weeks, that doesn't tax him unnecessarily as the team tries to peak physically and mentally for NCAAs?

Try to relax and trust the coaches.
1. Alter his preparation so he's in peak shape (maybe he's pushing too hard in training)
2. Check his sleep patterns when he's on the road at a tournament like this
3. Check his diet and make sure he's maintaining weight and not having to drop a ton right before weight-ins
4. Alter his warm-up routine

What are you talking about with the coaches? Why would they do anything at all since nothing can be accomplished in two weeks (according to you) and gassing for the final minute of a match is perfectly fine (also according to you)?

Josh did a good job baiting that TD attempt. Unfortunate he didn’t finish.

197 Consi SF - Josh Barr VS Isaiah Salazar (MN)

Period 1:
Here we go. Salazar is thicker than Barr. Circling & tying up. Barr looks for an underhook, but can't do anything with it. Barr shoots for a leg, but Salazar circles away. Salazar shoots & gets a leg. Barr sprawls back hard. Barr tries to come behind. Salazar throws in a whizzer & they go off the mat. Barr comes up limping & is taking injury time. I'm not sure what happened. It looks like a left knee or ankle or some part of his left leg. The coaches & Monthly are just talking to Barr & not really looking at his leg. He's still limping a little, but going to give it a go. Circling & stoppage for hands to the face on Barr. Barr's movement is clearly hindered. Barr immediately gets hit with another hands to the face call, point Salazar, 1-0. That was questionable. Salazar shoots & gets a TD, 4-0. Barr is hurt again & he's done. That sucks. Barr gets helped off the mat. Hopefully, it's nothing major & he recovers quickly.

Isaiah Salazar OVER Josh Barr (Injury Default)

Barr is in to the 5th place match, but he probably won't wrestle in that.

I think a lot of people here forget Braeden Davis' profile as a recruit.

He wasn't a S Tier kid (not available every class, but we are lucky to land multiple across 2 classes) like Luke Lilledahl, Marcus Blaze or PJ Duke
He wasn't an A Tier (Top 10) like Levi Haines, Tyler Kasak, Josh Barr (and Carter Starocci!) that we are spoiled and often see Cael transform into Multi Time Champs

He was ranked in the 40s, a kid that most had penciled in for redshirting and then even after that, who knew when he would crack the lineup. Instead he goes as a true freshman, greatly exceeds expectations in a volatile 125 class and people forget what he is. He's a tough positional grinder who will win a ton of matches just by riding. Not the most inventive scrambler which will get him in trouble at times. Despite that, he's clearly been a Top 8 kid both years, without redshirting.

Just when I was starting to believe the folks saying this wasn’t the worst B1G tournament in wrestling history… Barr suffers an injury and has to default out.

OBVIOUSLY not the most important thing, but Josh would’ve clinched the team title with just a regular decision.
