Aaron Brooks at Dmitriev Memorial in Yakutsk this weekend

I only know Yakutsk from Risk.

Yakutsk was always a pain since it was hard to capture without also having Mongolia, Siberia, and everything east to wall off northeast Asia. That's coming from the east where you can chip away at it by heavily fortifying Kamchatka for an Asian toehold. It always seemed a lot tougher coming from the west. Napoleon would attest to that.

I know it's just a board game but it's funny how inaccurate that world map is.

Wow, never thought I'd see that. Teched in the first by AZE Abakarov. UWW database says JR runnerup (74kg) and Senior World 8th.

That guy’s looks were deceiving. Aaron looked bigger but that guy powered through some positions.

Funny comments early from KJ about the officiating.

that's one of those matches where freestyle rules make it look real bad. 4 points from two takedowns and 6 from quick exposures. looked like the AZE's length was a problem for AB. hopefully he gets pulled into repechage and gets more than just the one match.

This trip is a learning experience for these guys. I think if he had to do it again he would go 86 kg plus 2 kg and be small, but not have to cut weight since they arrived Thursday. I’m no expert, but these are good lessons to learn now. Hopefully he does get pulled back in. We appreciate the support.

Thank you so much for your participation on this board. It is pretty obvious where Aaron gets his class from. I am so looking forward to seeing him perform for the next 4 (or 5) years at PSU and beyond internationally.

I was just in a race last weekend at Sugarbush where I had one ski, one snowshoe and a broom. Sounds similar.

Do you have any pics with that broom stuck up your a$$ that you'd like to share with us? Then again, maybe not...o_O
