I really hope you are not actually leaving and if you have made that decision, you will reconsider. Of the many hundreds of people who post here there are a dozen or so that I really enjoy and you are one of them. I certainly liked the old format better than the new one, but to me, it's the quality of the posts, not the format, that is most important. Rather than leave, perhaps you could just cut back a bit and see how this all shakes out. If you are really leaving, I wish you all the best.
Post like this make it as tough as possible. Thanks for the kind words, fairgambit, and I hope you know that you're easily one of my favorite posters as well (not just saying that to return the compliment -- it's 100% true). Your sense of humor, and ability to be so funny in writing -- I will miss.
I will definitely still check in on the board, and I won't say that I'll "never ever ever" post here agiain, but... And I want this to be very very clear... I'm not leaving in protest. I just know that, because the format is so much less conclusive to break-out conversations (which is what you want with a sports message board), and it's more effort to see/learn/discover what sub-conversations are breaking out, I'll naturally/organically participate much less.
There is another PSU site out there (247Sports) that is really great with regards to content and discussion forum posters. I have been a pay member there for about three and a half years, and generally, I enjoy the site a lot. However, I rarely (relatively) participated much on the purely topic view board over there. Sure, I would make posts/comments -- but it was (is) more like facebook, where it's really only easy to post a comment on the OP. Getting continuous discussions breaking-out and or going just is so much more cumbersome. Basically, it's much less enjoyable (and more work, if you want to participate in back-and-forth conversations).
So, I just wanted to make it clear that 1) I'm not leaving in protest; 2) Yeah, I'm sure I'll make a post here and there (and I'll still lurk some); and 3) My dislike of the new format is not because of some resistance to change that I'll get used to. I have 3000+ posts on the 247Sports PSU message board, so I've certainly put in the effort to adopt topic view -- But 3000 posts over 3.5 years is only about 2 a day (much less than I post here and the test board) -- And in the month of April, I've only made 8 total posts there.
It's just not as enjoyable -- And it's not the fellow posters or the content, or the topics.
So anyway, thanks again fair. I'll still be watching for your name on threads (though that will be much more difficult now because you can't see who's posting in a thread, and I'm not going to "follow" anyone), and will chime in from time to time. But unfortunately, they'll probably just be more one-off posts, rather than active participation.
