Berge

How many state titles does he have in Minn ? What weight did he wrestle last year...Is he a Sr ? Where is he ranked in his class ? Overall ?
Willie has him #1 at 160 and #9 PFP. He'll probably drop to 152 this year, but he's ranked where he last wrestled.

"I look at the guys around my weight there, and they develop them to be the best in the country," Berge said. "I look at the guys I'm going to train with, and that's where I want to be. With that room and those coaches, if I don't have success, it's my fault.

"But yeah, coach Sanderson is awesome, he's funny and laid-back. The biggest draw for me was the attitude in that room. Their guys really enjoy the sport. Coach Sanderson does a good job of making it fun. I didn't see that with some other programs, didn't see the energy OR DODGEBALL those guys have every day when they come into the room. I'm someone who truly loves and enjoys the sport, AND DODGEBALL, so I wanted to be around more people like that."

Very happy to hear Berge is coming to PSU. I see that he's projected at 149. I know that wrestlers in HS often wrestle at almost scratch weight. But if he's wrestling at 160 this year, that sure doesn't allow a lot of room for growth.

I'd like to know what he typically weighs in at, because he sure doesn't look to have much (if any) excess weight to lose.

I would honestly love this. Even Purdue, where he was rumored to go. It's not that a lot of guys need to vacate from Penn State or Iowa, just...I mean, SOME, right? Obviously most top level guys are going to a top level school, but given how much we know about how good these guys are now, given how much more ready many are to wrestle as true frosh, it's hard to see it as anything but bad for the whole of the sport for one school, or a small cadre of schools, to get all the top level talent. I'm not insinuating Cael and Penn State didn't do anything wrong here, their responsibility is to their program. Or that Berge did anything wrong. It's more of a macro level I'm talking about, this case is just the impetus for the discussion.

Spencer Lee could have been a trail blazer

Spencer is making a HUGE and i mean HUGE mistake...He will do well as an individual but he would get so much better at PSU plus win multiple titles...I hope for his sake he changes his mind....

Hillary village over here..The normal one....Lol...Man Cael is doing a great job...Hope we can get Fix....

I'm sure Fix is a longshot, but....can you imagine a team next year that includes Fix, Suriano, Cortez, Zain, Nolf, Barge, Manville, Joseph, Hall, Nickal, Rasheed, Cutch, Cassar, Nevills, and others. Our second team could be top 10. Crazy collection of talent!

Just curious what order you rank these slightly conflicting hopes, Spyker, given the NCCA's present ten-weight-class limitations and the presence of Suriano and Bravo-Young.

Just giving the Iowa fan a hard time Spyker.

I hear you.........but.......PSU has won 5 of the last 6. This year appears to be a crap shoot wth a bunch of really solid teams. The US wrestling team did great at the Olympics. The NCAA championships were a wild success in the big apple. I never wrestled and have only been watching closely for 10 years, but the sport is in a great place on a great tragectory. Whatever is going on, it is working.

This is just crazy. The talent Cael is bringing in is incredible. Suriano,RBY, Nick Lee, Joe Lee, Berge, Manville Whitlake...god...it even looks better when I type it out! I'll say this, if by not going all in on Spencer Lee means we can fill our roster up with this....then count me fully on board. And before anyone says it, I have no idea what Cael did or didn't do while recruiting Lee but the longer these recruits keep stacking up, the more inclined I am to believe it really could have come down to money no matter what he said in his letter.

There are people out there that can envision this. What says you Mr. T?

And I think to myself, what a wonderful life!

What weight class is he wrestling at and where is he on the p4p list?

You can't quit more than once. You already quit 2 weeks ago post RBY/Wittlake. Is this a double-reverse quit?

He said something similar last year when Hall comitted. He'll be back, just can't help himself. Maybe we get some down time at least, lol.

Just going through the roster spreadsheet and noticed that while PSU is a slight favorite to win a NC this year for the sixth time in seven years, barring a change of plans none of these wrestlers will have used up any eligibility yet and are scheduled to be in the PSU wrestling room in coming years:

Mark Hall
Nick Lee
Brady Berge
Mason Manville
AJ Nevills
Roman Bravo Young
Joe Lee
Travis Whittlake
Adam Busiello

In addition we will have 3 more years of:

Vincenzo Joseph
Nick Suriano

2 more years of:

Jason Nolf
Bo Nickal
Nick Nevills
Shakur Rasheed
Anthony Cassar

and another year of

Zain
Matt McCutcheon

Not to mention guys like Dinmore, Stout, & Moss who could be starting for some good D1 teams right now.

At this point, I honestly don't think I can get all that excited over any more recruits...we need to transfer some of this mojo over to the football team as it is overflowing (not that they are doing poorly, but we need to catch Bama).

Methinks a pretty good heavyweight will be in your top group there as well

he's going to come back... he didn't want to be the trailblazer but the cherry on top!! The straw that stirs the drink! (I'll drop it at that... just couldn't resist)

Give me S. Nevills/Steveson and Kurt McHenry, and you can shut down recruiting (other than walk-ons) until 2020. Perhaps Raimo if Busiello grows a ton.

One of the posters on HR said no Iowa coaches made an in home visit with Berge. Kind of mind-boggling if you really want someone.

As someone else on there said, if there's one coach who doesn't have to visit kids in person, it's Mr. Undefeated, but he's out there selling harder than anyone it seems. Like Tom Brady all of a sudden became a football coach and makes home visits to high school QBs.

Give that man another raise

I hear you. I don't want to sound greedy, I will be shocked, but very excited if Fix decides to come to PSU.
