Bo Bassett thread

Some Marcus Blaze facts taken from an Ohio State board:

" 1) He has bonus points in every D1 state match he has wrestled.
2) He has never lost to an Ohio opponent
3) He has never given up an offensive point, in his entire IN SEASON high school career. Not even in his two losses. He lost on escapes and a penalty point.
4) Fargo Champ over a field that included other world champs Bassett and Raney, current #1 national ranked Knox, and #1 Jax Forrest.
5) Cadet World Champion
6) Olympic team member (top 3 at trials)
7) Junior World Team - Bronze
8 Senior WTT Finalist
9) Beat 3 former D1 NCAA Champs and 2 other NCAA finalists
10) in the same calendar year, beat #1 ranked Lilledahl, #1 ranked Knox, and #1 ranked Forrest."
For those people on this board who question his offense or overall potential, this is a decent reference that helps illustrate why I rank him as the #1 must get of the three hammers. Cael might just have to worry about this one :)

We question Mitchs defensive skills in the same way....

I don't think we're happy unless we are bitching about something.

This is great and all, but can he defend the deadly Iowa spiral ride and double thigh pry?

I want guys who score points for the team at nationals. Whether that is 3-1 in OT or a tech fall. The important thing imho is consistency. I want guys who consistently produce quality outings. That sustains itself in tournaments. I hate the tech fall followed by a mysterious 4-2 loss to an unranked guy followed by a pin.
I want guys that beat Iowa consistently lol. Oh wait we already have them. Carry on

No one is questioning Blaze's overal potential. Of all the matches we've got to see of him wrestles so far on Youtube don't scream offensive machine. Defensive machine, yes. He got that in spades.

“I will be pushing my recruiting into the spring,” Bassett writes in his ‘Inner Circle’ newsletter. “I am in no rush to make a really big decision until I get to see all the schools I may be interested in!"

“My view is, I only get to do the recruiting process once, so I am going to enjoy it and have fun with it. I sometimes like to do things differently and hope everyone likes these updates.”

Where the weekly updates though? The fans wanna know!

He's down to 20 teams. What more do you want? I forget, is Rutgers still in play? I'm 95% confident we'll know this decade.

There is a strong possibility we are going to know what Bo's planed destination is before we know where Marcus plans on going.

Bassett is a perfect fit for PSU! Hoping we hear he commits after his weekend.
Haven't we already been through this recently? (See below from Oct 20, in the Marcus Blaze thread)

Heard today Blaze, Bo and Jax will be in town for a visit together soon. Let’s sign them that weekend
DT is making moves but still competing for second.

Duke would crush Robideau
Bassett beat Vega 11-0 last year at super
No answer for Luke
Blaze and Jax push us over the edge.

Bassett has said he expects his recruiting to go into the spring.

So we're not signing all of them that weekend, whenever it is. If they even visit the same weekend.

How old will Bassett be in his college freshman year?
I think 20 someone said. Let’s all talk smack on him and maybe he will really want to come to PSU. 😭🤣There seem to be hold backs all the time and kids older, but Bo and Jax are the only ones who get called out.
Desmond and Perry are 19 yr old seniors and will be 20 as freshmen in college. I think lots more. I know in D4 we have kids held back all the time. Harer, Simcox, and more. All of Southern Columbias football teams 😭

OK just wondering, maybe he has enough credits to graduate this year.

Bo hasn't sent an Inner Circle or school eliminator for a few weeks now so who knows what's going on at this point.

Only slightly tongue and cheek, but is it illegal to wrestle for two teams at the same time these days in this era of legal enlightenment.

Evidence?
I'm using logic to make a prediction. He's been on an NIL since his sophomore year and is as focused on building his brand as he is with wrestling. His decision will not solely be based on wrestling, he's going where he can gain the most followers on SM and get the biggest NIL deal. If he comes to PSU he'll be competing with a team full of studs for that attention whereas he'll be the top dog in Iowa where he'll be all over the news. Unfortunately he'll be passing up the opportunity to work with the greatest coach in history and end up with a couple rabid badgers as coaches who would burn him out w/o even thinking about it if it helped their program.

I can't imagine that NIL is his sole goal.

But is it his soul glow?

He's been building his brand as a HS kid competing in the same promotions market as established college stars supported by professional fundraisers, and as senior-level stars employed under sponsorships.

And PSU's star-studded lineup did not hinder RBY building his brand.

If anything, he's less dependent on NIL than normal recruits precisely because he's been building his brand and already has NIL deals.

He also knows that if his college career falls short of its promise, he will kneecap both his NIL and his senior-level prospects.

You may be right, I see it playing out differently.
