I don't think anybody is taking V-Tech seriously enough they are sneaky good with their recruiting class, they made it this far maybe they are a good distance too. The only problem that I know of with them is the rtc.
Agree that the message board chatter (speculation, criticism, etc) is sometimes overdone. But I don't think such chatter is related (or maybe only weakly related) to being from the commonwealth of PA. It's the same for someone like Facundo. We absolutely should be recruiting both of them hard. And we are.
The 2nd paragraph stumps me. If it means the coaches, they don't play favorites. If it means the fans, well, we have about 30 pages of how Kasak will transfer. Plus, going back further: Gulibon, the Altons, even Ed Ruth took some lumps from the fans. And Q was hardly immune to it either.
It's a nice sentiment, but the reality is: being a PA wrestler in the PSU lineup can be a double-edged sword.
I would bet he would beat Bassett, not just hang with him.
You both do know that Bassett beat a 3-time (correction: 4-time) All-American and a former NCAA champion, Anthony Ashnault, as a high school sophomore, right? He not only just beat him, but he teched him. Food for thoughts. If Bassett and Kasak end up at the same weight, I’m picking Kasak.
Pretty sure Ashnault was a 4-time AA.You both do know that Basset beat a 3-time All-American and a former NCAA champion, Anthony Ashnault, as a high school sophomore, right? He not only just beat him, but he teched him. Food for thoughts.
You're right. I didn't include Ashnault's championship as AA. Thanks.Pretty sure Ashnault was a 4-time AA.
Yes, but my point was about the "even more love" PA wrestlers supposedly get. It isn't always true.Agree that the message board chatter (speculation, criticism, etc) is sometimes overdone. Would Basset have beaten Ashnault , as a hs sophomore, In a folkstyle match? You both do know that Bassett beat a 3-time (correction: 4-time) All-American and a former NCAA champion, Anthony Ashnault, as a high school sophomore, right? He not only just beat him, but he teched him. Food for thoughts.

Who knows. That's why I would not attempt to make an absolute statement on who would beat who like the posters I referenced. Kasak is no pushover, but neither is Bassett. But Bassett teching Ashnault is an eye opener. And similar to Mesenbrink (folk vs. free), Basset doesn't depend on the crocodile roll (free) to score. So I think his style translates well regardless (using Mesenbrink as an example).Would Basset have beaten Ashnault , as a hs sophomore, In a folkstyle match?
The mere fact that is a legitimate question, is itself remarkable.Would Basset have beaten Ashnault , as a hs sophomore, In a folkstyle match?
Yes and it was also just me wondering how much freestyle translates to folkstyle… bc Ash senior year was wild.. he majored Kolodzik to take #1 ranking and dominated Micah Jordan In finals and was a hodge finalists that year.. so if a hs Basset could win a folkstyle match as a sophomore.. the thought is just wild.. still he teched a fully grown man in FS.The mere fact that is a legitimate question, is itself remarkable.
I think they are only a year apart in ageIn two years, one will be a true freshman and the other a 4th year wrestler.
I have a thought: Get back to work!!Things happen that throw expectations into a meat grinder. Examples Chase and his deamons, Bo Jordan who was dealing himself a hand (3 kids or somewhere close) while improving his deadlift, Ferarri and his lack of impulse control, empathy or self respect, and numerous other athletes who for whatever reason seem to either miss or leave much on the table However, at this point in time all data available indicates Bo will be very good at this college wrestling thing and a great teammate to have on the team.
It is also fairly safe to assume that guys currently on the PSU team will continue to develop very high end skills while working in the PSU room.
Me, just sitting in my office on a Friday watching wrestling, hoping for no issues and babbling a thought out on a message board.
Nope.I have a thought: Get back to work!!
Signed The Boss
I agree, he tf’d his way at Ironman and Super 32. I felt he looked slow, under weight and not happy.Bassett can look sloppy some times and what about trying some tilts and pin combo's. Almost 2 more yrs of high school left, maybe work on some other things than catch and release.
Are you sure? Wouldn't Cadet eligible after Junior year would mean he was 16 until at least January of his Sr. year? Even Cadet eligible after Sophomore year makes you a baby these days.AB was the 3 seed (that I think was going to win obviously) in 2020 but he was 1 year removed from HS (greyshirted at OTC)
Mark obviously won but yes yes all the "he was old for his grade"
Tyler was Cadet Eligible after his junior year so he's young for his grade actually.
BTW... I think Bassett v. Kayak would be a banger. That is not knocking Kasak but I think thst Bo (and of course Jax and Blaze cor that matter) could AA this year. Are you sure? two years full time in the PSU/NLWC rooms means something.B

Which Mirasola? 😅😂 sure would hate to see it come down to that5kg difference! That’s hard to compare. I see PJ going 157 and Bo no bigger than 149
125- Desmond
133- Luke
141- Blaze
149- Bo
157- Duke
165- Sealey
174- Asher
184- Ryder
197- Barr
285 Mirasola
With tons of others to plug in.
Cornell wasn't really trying.Bassett was dropped by Cornell, not the other way around. His grades aren't up to snuff.
Oh my goodness. So we should expect a legal action soon?Cornell wasn't really trying.
And you know this how?Bassett was dropped by Cornell, not the other way around. His grades aren't up to snuff.
Buddy, unless something has changed drastically about the way Cornell operates re: athletics I assure that is not the case.Bassett was dropped by Cornell, not the other way around. His grades aren't up to snuff.
He still has PSU on the list so that should tell you something about his grades.
I drove past the Cornell wrestling building yesterday thought it was an outhouse lmfao. Just kidding but it was really smallCornell wasn't really trying.
Still waiting to hear how you know his grades aren't good enough to get into Cornell? He still has PSU on the list so that should tell you something about his grades.
He's a C student with SAT's less than 900. Fine for a giant state school where all you need to do is fog a mirror but not Ivy League worthy.Still waiting to hear how you know his grades aren't good enough to get into Cornell?
Thank goodness you had me worried...He still has PSU on the list so that should tell you something about his grades.
There's been speculation on here so I want to make this VERY clear, I am not Lisa Morales...
