Bo was at a camp today in Brockway, PA. During the Q&A, he said he was moving up this year. That will certainly raise some eyebrows.

I know that he had planned to grey shirt and wrestle freestyle but getting on campus and the excitement of wrestling in college maybe got to him.

Here's how the rankings might look. I think Nickal can place as high as 2nd, and Hall could win it all.

1. Dean
2. Dudley
3. Valencia
4. Martin
5. Nickal
6. Boyd
7. Brooks
8. Miklus
9. Zavatasky
10. Nate Jackson (up from 174)
11. Abounader
12A. Dechow
12B. Weatherspoon (up from 174)

174
1. Jordan (up from 165)
2. Epperly
3. Hall
4. Realbuto
5. Valencia
6. Ramos
7. Crutchmer
8. Brunson
9. Meyer
10. Bernstein
11. Hammond
12. Schleifer

Wow... So many questions if this is true...

Is this Mark Halls entrance to the the lineup?

Does Cutch wrestle off at 84, or go up or down?

Same question with Rasheed?

Next few months will be interesting, for sure,

I don't think Cutch has the height for 197. Rasheed does have the body for 197, but the big question is can his body adjust to a 32 pound weight gain in 8 months.

I suppose that is possible, but I'd love to see what Rasheed could do at 197. It's such a terrible weight.

I don't see Hall losing to anyone at 74 Bo at 84 3-4 Cholley probably has it right.

Maybe, just maybe... three young men, two of them tall, the other not so much, enter a deli in State College for an offseason meal. Two of them order cheesesteaks with cokes and fries. The tall blonde sighs and orders a veggie wrap, a water, and a lemon to flavor it. When their order arrives, Mr. Blonde snaps, takes the cheesesteak from the other tall fellow, looks him in the eye and growls "184 is mine, Shak". The other tall fellow quickly weighs his options, smiles devilishly at the shorter fellow and advises "you do NOT want to wrestle-off with me at 197, Mouse." The shorter man shrugs, pushes his plate to Shak, and reaches for the veggie wrap, all the while muttering "174 doesn't sound so bad".

I want Bo at 174 and Hall red shirt this year...Bo will win it all at 174 and help the team with bonus points more....

I can see Manville shirting this year, Hall shirting the following year. Then in Bo/Nolf's senior year, some combo of Manville , Nolf, Joseph and Hall between 57 and 84, and Bo moving to 97.

Still trying to wrap my mind around the ramifications of this, if it comes to pass.

Is Bo moving up because he simply can't hold 74? Is he making room for Wreck Hall? Is Cutch not recovering fully from the various injuries he's suffered? If not Mark Hall at 74, Cutch? Rasheed? Joseph? Or do Cutch and Rasheed try their luck at 97?

Im sure the coaches have a plan, and it's a good one... But Im not privy to that plan, and it's the offseason, so lots of questions arise!

And why the hell not? That's your only job on here mister! To be in-the-know. :)

I know people that know people that know people that know people close to the coaches...and this was not the plan, but plans do change...so I guess it all depends on what plan you're talking about.

We're talking about today's plan Roar, not yester day's or tomorrow's. Please ask the people who know people who know people who are close to people in the know to keep up.

If true, pretty interesting for who goes to 174 and who gets bumped from 184 (which looks relatively stronger than 184), about which it's tough to speculate, but worth pointing out that Bo had trouble with bigger guys at 86kg (which, granted, is 5 lbs heavier than 184) in FS this spring. And since our resident insider definitively stated that Mark Hall was going to redshirt, 174 becomes a real question mark because it doesn't seem like the best weight for Cenzo. Cutch has always looked small to me at 184 so maybe he'd be the answer. Geno looks like he was already cutting to hold 165 so maybe him, but I'd also think the staff would want someone there that they're reasonably sure will AA, given the likely improvement at Iowa and tOSU.

What was explained to me is Bo feels his international aspirations are at the heavier weight. Like a DT who was always on the skinnier side of things and is only now filling out his length. Given PSU is stacked at these weights, it doesn't hurt the team.......and may even help the team.

I am nothing more than a fan. I never wrestled. I do get tired of those folks who keep quoting Mark Hall's supposed plan when he announced for PSU. What Mark didn't realize at the time......I don't think most people saw it coming ( I sure did not)....that Penn State would have a freestyle program in place when Mark got to PSU that would be the best place to train on the planet. :) It isn't about one or two horses.....it is a stable of Derby worthy studs.

Yeah, I can definitely see that Bo's long term future is up, just figured that the immediate team puzzle figured better if he spent one more year at 174, and probably worked out better for Bo as well, given who else is and isn't at 174 & 184. But if the long term plan is 86kg, then he's going to want to walk around at a weight where 174 is out of reach. All eyes turn to Mark Hall to for clues to what comes next I guess :)

That's scary man. Scary.

This makes a lot of sense to me.

One, Nickal's frame and length make 184 a very likely destination, probably sooner than later. He could follow a path similar to Q.

Two, 184 is full of questions. Cutch is a medical question mark. The recurring knee injuries and the back situation make me wonder if his career might be over for all practical purposes. It's a shame because he was developing really well and before the injuries last season, he looked fantastic. Looking at Rasheed, I wonder if 184 is realistic for him. He seems to be growing and getting bigger. 197 might be the best weight for him. I know, I know - it's 32 pounds more than the weight class he tried to hold this past season, but I don't think it's a huge reach to see him there.

Three, Hall doesn't really need a redshirt season, imo. He's ready to go and a little bit older than the typical freshman.

That's a lineup that could AA ten if the top two weights can stay healthy. And with two prohibitive favorites for the top of the pile, it could be a point-scoring bonanza.

Wow. Dramatic much?

I think it's just realistic. If I'm not mistaken, it's the same knee he injured between his senior year of high school and PSU. Recurring knee injuries concern me a lot. The back injury worries me even more, especially since he never really let it heal properly last season. It's a weird injury for a college wrestler, so I get concerned. I hope he's able to continue his career, but I do wonder.

Well I'm concerned about 30% of collegiate wrestlers ability to continue if these are the deciding factors with repeat injuries.

"If I'm not mistaken" means you don't know, you're supposing. You might check on stuff like that before sticking a fork in him.

BTW, know who else had a bad back injury, didn't let it heal fully that year, and went 0-2 at nationals? Bubba Jenkins.

I'm of course preparing for this to get shot down but....when was the last time McCutcheon had to or tried to cut? Like, anything significant? I know he has a long history, back to HS, of being above 174 but...what about a swap? I know Cael usually prefers to avoid heavy cuts, but if they're all intent on BoNicks making the jump *this* year, when he's probably walking around near 184, maybe they're also interested to see what the 174 pound class might do for Mouse's stiff back? Anyway, I'd guess that Bo 174, Mouse 184 are probably their more natural sizes right now, but if Bo's coming out publicly that he's gonna try 184 *this* year, then I wouldn't be surprised if it's a two-way swap.

Further guesses:
- Wreck Hall still sits the 2017 tourney (in either CO or PA)
- Rasheed's gonna have a tough time cracking the lineup. Can't imagine he's much bigger than Bo, so I find 197 a non-reality due to both size & strength. And unlike many this summer, I have a super hard time believing that Rasheed can touch McCutcheon in the practice room. Unless.....b/c we haven't seen it since like 10th or 11th grade I think, McCutcheon pulls down to 174.

Yours in italics, super-curiosity about a 174-pound Matt McCutcheon, and if the Queen had nuts, she's be the King,

jto, the pics I've seen of Rasheed indicate to me that he is a larger framed guy than Bo, and quite muscular at that. Pics can be deceiving though. Rasheed may be the tallest guy on the team.
