Today was bittersweet for me watching Metcalf at the trials today. The bitter first. It's was disappointing seeing him go 0-2 at home in the trials. He has done so much for USA wrestling and wrestling in general. He has always wrestled the right way. The way that God intended when man started the oldest sport. (The way that our Cael wrestled and coaches, but I digress) He has wrestled hard internationally, sometimes qualifying our weights for major tournaments. Hell, the mantra was just sent Brent and we will qualify the weight. I truly respect his skill and competitive desire to dominate. His days may be over and if they are, he will be missed in the sport of USA wrestling, no doubt about that.

Now the sweet. His first loss came from the hands of our baby boy Gorilla Hulk. Talking about redemption. For years, I would read on HR on how Frankie was the worst 4x AA in history or how Metcalf dominated him and Bubba in college. As if being a 4x AA is chopped liver, which many of those arrogant chumps that disparaged Frank never won anything on the mat. Most have probably never put on a singlet (Once again, I digress but will get back to my point). To see Frank win that match and win it in Carver was a beauty to behold. I hope he brings it home tonight and then qualifies this weight for Rio. And how about Mr. Retherford? Hopefully going to Rio to prepare either Frank or Pico. Great day for NLWC, PSU wrestling program and those who support them.

Metcalf is just flat out in your face tougher than nails.
Saw either here or HR the rumor is he is going to MSU to coach. If so and they can keep him around the Spartans will eventually have a wrestling program again.

Frankly...all these guys are warriors.
None should be disparaged by anyone.

We may see Metcalf coaching at Iowa one of these days.

Major Kudos to Metcalf, true warrior. Also, so happy for Tank. Still are chumps whining about Frank as of today. Crazy one of HR's favorite whipping boys would end a Hawk legacy

First congrats to Frank got the job done. Wish him the best tonite against Pico. Either one will represent us well.
I'm the selfish type person if Metcalf goes into coaching I want him to be the next head coach at Iowa.:)

Edit. ok this is for the county not a college please don't have to call us chumps I know some deserve it perhaps. ;)

This was just for the guys on HR talking smack pre match about Metcalf's supposed whipping boy in Molinaro and how Frank just ran around and somehow won, it's disrespectful to Frank and won't be tolerated in this county or country

Metcalf has always been a competitor. Hard nose, in-your-face wrestler that gave you a brawl, as long as, there is time on the clock. He has one of the best Hi C anywhere around, but I think that is what has held him back on the senior circuit against top level world competition. He just to one dimensional on offense. I think he would have been better served to have left IC after the last Olympic cycle for a different approach. It would have been interesting to see what 3 or 4 years under Cael or John Smith would have done for him.

Thanks minnhawkeye, what a gift to wrestling Metcalf has been. That's something that won't be disputed anywhere hopefully ever.

I watched his interview on Flo and literally had a tear in my eye. What a great representative for the sport we all love. If your career is over Mr Metcalf, I toast thee. If not, I wish thee luck!!

Metcalf had me choked up a little. Always loved his fierce competitiveness. A great talent and representative of Iowa and the USA.
