Were 10-4 last year and 7-1 MAC with wins over Temple and Rutgers. They beat Robert Morris 38-10 yesterday to start the season and will be looking to further dominate the state this week. :) I remember they had an NFL level QB, did he go or come back?

Buffalo lost three of their last four, including losing to Troy in the Dollar General Bowl 42-32. They did beat Rutgers and Temple, but were pummeled by Army and Ohio. Lost by 1 point in MAC championship.

Tyree Jackson was a JR QB who opted to go pro after the season.

My thought is that while they are a pretty good MAC team, and will contend for their MAC division title, they are not quite as strong as last season, at least not yet.

They will be far more competitive than Idaho, of course, and more competitive than Kent State was last year and Akron the year before(?). They probably will not be as relatively competitive as they were the last time they came to town, where they lost by just 2 TDs and Saquon showed us flashes of what we were going to enjoy for the next 3 seasons. We are much better now than we were early in that 2015 season. They may be better, too, but the disparity has widened imo.

While there could be some back-and-forth early in the game (for 20 minutes or so of game time), we should be able to pull away and make far more plays to eventually cruise to a solid win. No 79 points, but we should find many ways to score and to hold them in check.

They should get better as the season goes on. And after the season, we'll see that they had a good season and feel better about the win in hindsight.

They were expected to challenge for the MAC east last year. They did well (I think started out 7-0). However, their 6’7” qb made a bad decision and left a year early and did not get drafted. And their star wr grad transferred and is now starting at Da U. They also lost their top RB and some other guys. Starting a true FR at QB. They are well coached, but should be badly outmatched. The night game should help any let down.

I'll be interested to see how the Def Line stacks up against them. Bulls return 80% of their offensive line from last year and MAC Fresh player of the year Jarrett Patterson at RB. Patterson and their other So. running back (can't remember name) are very elusive and should be a good test for the LBs if their QB can get anything going passing wise. Don't expect the Bulls to win but will be a much more serious test for the defense.

Buffalo is better than Idaho (everyone on our schedule is lol) but they're a 8-4/7-5 team in the MAC this year. This wont be within 30.

I love how everyone keeps complaining about our OOC schedule I really do. None of the other top schools in the country play cupcake teams either..... this is college football these days. Get over it.

And why anyone would not want us to get a couple of games under our belt before getting into the Big schedule is beyond me. I’ll take all the practice games we can get to get our young team ready.

I've yet to understand the complaining. This year's schedule sets up absolutely perfect. We have a young team without a lot of experience. They have a progressively harder opponent every week until you get into the meat of the schedule. It takes time to gel. Can you take away how good we are after Saturday? Of course not. But it got inexperienced players some experience and help them get better for Buffalo. And Buffalo will help them get better for Pitt. And so on and so on.

I'd rather save one cupcake game for the week before our toughest opponent each season, like the SEC.

Do people complain about Notre Dame's schedule, with cupcakes all over the place, a weak combination of ACC, B1G, and Pac12 bottom feeders, plus service academies, and no conference championship game?
