Good God that's stupid logic. By your logic, the only way to win a conference championship is to go undefeated. Once you lose to someone, you have to rely on "luck".The PSU team was genuinely elite in 2017. The PSU team was pretty good in 2016. The difference in success the two years was mostly luck.
Do you think Franklin deserves extra credit for Michigan losing to Iowa? PSU doesn't win the B1G otherwise. Personally I'm much more impressed with what Franklin put together in 2017 than 2016. Makes me very optimistic about the future. 2016 was fluky as hell.
Crabs in a bucket. So CBS asks 26 College Football coaches who is most overrated
You have 12 that share a certain racial background and 118 another.
So these 26 just somehow pick 2 from the 12 for this recognition.
Including a coach who has gone 11-3 and won the Big10 in 2016, then 11-2 in 2017, and since Oct 2016 has had only 3 heartbreak losses by 3,1,3 points to USC, OSU and MSU. Coach who recruits lights out, develops players athletically and academically and energized alumni, fans, lettermen, and and works 24/7 to excel.
So just a coincidence that Franklin and Taggart got picked by the 26 to be the uppity overrated coaches? How many of the 26 will have a job when this “overrated “ becomes first African American coach to win Division 1 National Championship in next 5 years?
And Ohio State wouldn’t have won the Big last year if we had beat MSU...I guess OSU was lucky last year. There are always games that help a coach win a championship that they did not coach in...that’s how division championships work. The PSU team was genuinely elite in 2017. And if a coach has time to fill out a survey like this, then they’re not doing a very good job of coaching. Why in the world would decent people participate in this kind of lame, 8th grade mean girls bs?
Ewwwww. He's overrated. Hell, at least you know who the mean girls are at the middle school. These people are anonymous.
And if a coach has time to fill out a survey like this, then they’re not doing a very good job of coaching.
And who’s fault is the QB situation at Michigan? PSU would have been fine if their starter got hurt. OSU won a NC after losing their top two QB’s. It’s the coach’s job to have solid backup QB’s and Harbaugh always has a mess at the QB position.Unbelievable "Lost to Michigan while ravaged by injuries" but Michigan losing last year to PSU without a starting QB doesn't count? What and hell do you think PSU's record would have been last year without your starting QB???
You know who probably fills that out? Some grad assistant's assistant. And if a coach has time to fill out a survey like this, then they’re not doing a very good job of coaching.
I would bet that Nick Saban didn’t have time to fill out a wasteful survey. The time spent on a survey has no bearing on the coaching ability. Stop reaching.
Wheres the proof that these are head coaches at all who fill this out. Hell, this sort of thing was probably in Zach Smith's job description .The time spent on a survey has no bearing on the coaching ability. Stop reaching.

That's the kind of timewasting horseshit you farm out to staff. No coach worth a damn spent two minutes providing anonymous criticism/praise of his fellow coaches. It is the sort of thing that is probably a top priority in DJ Durkin's office.I would bet that Nick Saban didn’t have time to fill out a wasteful survey.
talking heads this morning addressing this. Talked about Ferencz being one of the most over rated. Then states "Iowa unfortunate to be in the same division as Ohio State and Michigan!" will it never end?And who’s fault is the QB situation at Michigan? I suspect it has more to do with losing recruits and/or games & jobs to both coaches than any other reason. Jealousy, the green-eyed monster that is self-invented - invited - infecting - gangrenous.

McElroy blasted that poll this morning and totally praised the job Franklin's done.I agree that all of this is a good bit of BS and talking head opinions are a dime a dozen, but it was interesting how quickly several writers came out on social media in support of CJF and commented how stupid that poll was.....
Maybe they changed divisions around and didn’t tell anyone except the talking heads. Leaders and Legends are back!talking heads this morning addressing this. Grown men who are in the football coaching profession can be just as petty as junior high girls. You can substitute jealous for petty if you like.
I look at CJF and his overall results and can't think of 5 coaches I'd consider ahead of him for the job.
This whole thing is BS. I look at CJF and his overall results and can't think of 5 coaches I'd consider ahead of him for the job.
Sounds racist to me.Wasn't there another thread on this topic? Look, success breads jealousy. Take a similar anonymous poll among your coworkers, asking who's hot and who's not in the eyes of your boss. It's guaranteed to yield similar results.
Or.......
He could choose to not wade into the idiocy.
I’d guess he’d choose “Ignore”.

I still have some doubts about Franklin's pure coaching ability, but in reality, he's much less involved in play calling and coaching individual players than his coaches. His is a CEO-like responsibility and perspective to make sure the overall organization is healthy and the brand is viable. With respect to the latter, he has more than exceeded my expectations while maintaining and even exceeding in some cases the standards initiated by Joe. With respect to the poll, I think the coaches' responses is more related to jealous, 'I could have done more with that there'....guess what, you're only not here, you didn't make the short list for consideration. So CBS asks 26 College Football coaches who is most overrated
