Entering into this quagmire is GlaxoSmithKline and Vir Biotechnology with Sotrovimab, the newest antibody therapy, developed after a large collaborative study by scientists from across the nation who have worked together and discovered a natural antibody (in the blood of a COVID-19 survivor) that has remarkable efficacy that will NOT alter your DNA. Sotrovimab is authorized for use under an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA), so there is no dispute, and it is for “the treatment of mild-to-moderate coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in adults and pediatric patients (12 years of age and older weighing at least 40 kg) with positive results of direct SARS-CoV-2 viral testing, and who are at high risk for progression to severe COVID-19, including hospitalization or death.”

Experiments showed that this antibody, called S309, neutralizes all known SARS-CoV-2 strains. The newly emerged mutations can now be known as the breakthroughs as well as the closely related original SARS-CoV virus. This Molecular Biology Consortium used beamlines at two labs to perform x-ray crystallography on samples of survivor-derived antibodies during an early phase of the study. This work, alongside other crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy findings, contributed to generating a detailed structural map of how these antibodies bind to the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. This further allowed the wider team to select the most promising candidates enabling them to advance this analysis to cell culture and animal-based studies. Following the lab results, the developers designed Sotrovimab based on the structure of S309 and then advanced to clinical trials.

The FDA granted a EUA for Sotrovimab in late May after trials showed that people with mild to moderate COVID-19 infections who received an infusion of the therapy had an 85% reduction in rates of hospitalization or death, compared with placebo. This is what I have been saying that there is no vaccine that will exterminate this virus. Not a medical expert but I can tell you that NO Covid-19 vaccine has been shown to alter DNA. NONE. Which vaccine did Gates invent? Calling them "Gates" vaccines is grossly misleading. The FDA granted an Emergency Use Authorization for Sotrovimab in late May. It was reported through various media outlets. 'Nuff said. Haven't heard/read about anyone bashing it. Lots of Bias and Gates hating in this info but I am sure everyone hopes it works extremely well with minimal side effects. We could use some good news on the Covid-19 front

FACT: The rules for sending information to the VAERS concerning Covid-19 is VERY different than other vaccines because Covid-19 is on "Emergency Approval". If you take the time to read the VAERS protocols you would know that for an FDA approved vaccine ....death/adverse reactions need to be sent when the health officials are certain/reasonably certain the cause was directly related to the vaccine. Identify antibodies that neutralize Covid-19 and produce these neutralizing antibodies at high level for commercial purposes. I received Regeneron back in March and I will swear by it. Cleared up most of my Covid symptoms in less than 2 days. Took a little longer for my lungs to clear, but even they improved noticeably within a day.

It's a fine approach. But, an even better one would be if your body is already making neutralizing antibodies for Covid-19 before you are exposed to Covid.

I showed my first symptoms of Covid 10 days after receiving the first Pfizer shot. Still in the sweet spot where the vaccine doesn't provide protection. Covid is made up of 5 dominant proteins and the vaccine generates 1 of the 5, the spike protein. The protection of recovering from Covid is much better than the protection the vaccine provides, as you body will make antibodies to attack all 5 proteins instead of just one and you will more likely be protected against variants.

Okay, I think I misunderstood your point when I first read it. But, in general, I think I agree - antibodies against more SARS-CoV2 epitopes (proteins) are better than just one. I'm not an expert in vaccines and my understanding of the immune system is outdated, but I would expect second and third generation vaccines against Covid, which it looks like we might unfortunately need, to include more of the spike protein than the first versions, which I think I heard included only a portion of the spike protein, and also additional proteins. But, any protection is better than none. And, yeah, from the Pfizer graphs I saw, protection from the vaccine started to kick in at 10-14 days, so you had unfortunate timing, but once protection kicked it, it kicked in.

I tried to alert people that there was some political bashing in the text. Also the point was to make people aware of other options which are being researched, although they do not get nearly the same press as the vaccine has gotten. It is nice to know that we may have other options because it seems apparent that the vaccine is not going to result in us getting back to normal. Now places in California are offering a third shot. That sounds like an admission that the first 2 were not enough.

As far as the Gates bashing, I agree there was no need for it in the article, but it was how it copied and I did not feel like cutting it out. It goes to show that - just like everything that happened in the past administration was blamed on Trump (Kamala Harris even went so far as to say she would never take a Trump vaccine because she did not trust him) - there are people who blame Gates for everything. Finding a villain seems to be a human tendency.

When this is all said and done, we may (and I say MAY) come to the conclusion that the best thing to do is let our natural immune systems and nature deal with the virus. Eventually, we will become immune and reach herd immunity and being immune to many of the variants.

I do think it is safe to say the we have flattened the curve by now.

The Atlanta Falcons released 4 players Tuesday. That got them to the 85 player limit AND also allowed them to be the first team to reach a 100% vaccination rate. Yes.....two of the players cut were the last two players who chose not to be vaccinated. At least in Atlanta the question: "Are we going to take the chance that an unvaccinated borderline player might cause us to forfeit a game" may have been answered. Interesting times

You make a valid point (IMO) regarding having the antibodies from having COVID. I know a lot of people who are not happy about having to get the vaccine to 'go to work' after having COVID. Having the antibodies being their argument.

Uh, because I want to reduce the expected value of the cumulative <number of viruses> times <minutes that you have those viruses in your body>. Since you haven't been paying attention to the news lately: if you get sick and need to go to the hospital, you take up resources (ICU bed, staffing, etc.) that can no longer be used for that cancer patient needing her chemo, or that MVA victim needing emergency surgery, or that cyclist who got hit by a car, or that woman who needs an emergency c-section, etc. Alabama currently has fewer ICU beds than patients who need them...because the beds are taken by mostly un-vaccinated COVID-19 patients.

The more people get infected, the higher the likelihood of another, worse, variant emerging.

Your "6 times" statistic is nonsense. Please provide a citation for that (I know you can't).

Since you haven't been paying attention to the news lately: if you get sick and need to go to the hospital, you take up resources (ICU bed, staffing, etc.) that can no longer be used for that cancer patient needing her chemo, or that MVA victim needing emergency surgery, or that cyclist who got hit by a car, or that woman who needs an emergency c-section, etc. Alabama currently has fewer ICU beds than patients who need them...because the beds are taken by mostly un-vaccinated COVID-19 patients.

The more people get infected, the higher the likelihood of another, worse, variant emerging.

I think New Zealand has proven to be the absolute best at dealing with Covid-19. It isn't a crisis there because they treated it like a crisis. They have all their freedoms now because they sacrificed their "Freedoms" briefly to assure that everyone's freedom would be available in the long term. Yes....they shut down everything recently because 3 people got Covid-19 but the are 100% back to normal because of their brief sacrifice. We absolutely know how to do it correctly.....we just won't

I tried to alert people that there was some political bashing in the text. Also the point was to make people aware of other options which are being researched, although they do not get nearly the same press as the vaccine has gotten. It is nice to know that we may have other options because it seems apparent that the vaccine is not going to result in us getting back to normal. Now places in California are offering a third shot. That sounds like an admission that the first 2 were not enough.

As far as the Gates bashing, I agree there was no need for it in the article, but it was how it copied and I did not feel like cutting it out. It goes to show that - just like everything that happened in the past administration was blamed on Trump (Kamala Harris even went so far as to say she would never take a Trump vaccine because she did not trust him) - there are people who blame Gates for everything. Finding a villain seems to be a human tendency.

When this is all said and done, we may (and I say MAY) come to the conclusion that the best thing to do is let our natural immune systems and nature deal with the virus. Eventually, we will become immune and reach herd immunity and being immune to many of the variants.

Unfortunately, the curve has not flattened. The delta variant has thrown us a ginormous curve ball. Our local hospital in the Oklahoma of California has no beds left. And this is August. Winter is coming.

That's a BS source. Just a brief glance shows that while they say "They found the reinfection rate to be just 0.27%", I easily found "In California, for example, the 1,615 hospitalizations of people with breakthrough infections as of Aug. 8 represents just 0.007 percent of nearly 22 million fully immunized residents". One asks why they didn't show data like that.

Here's the problem: you don't have to convince me. I got the shot and drove 2 hrs each way to do it.

But I did it because I read the info for myself and reached my own conclusions.

I certainly didn't do it because our institutions said so. Our leaders are hot garbage, arrogant, unpersuasive, unaccountable, and unwilling to live by their own rules.

It's true that some people won't get it anyway and are using the FDA as an excuse. Of course, the FDA has allowed that to become entrenched by wasting many months. As the saying goes: I'll act like it's a crisis when those who tell me it's a crisis, start acting like it's a crisis themselves.

Mandates and othering don't help. That just causes people to dig in their heels.

But our expert class doesn't understand that their expertise is secondary to trust. They squandered trust long ago, and would rather point the finger than earnestly do the hard work of re-gaining trust.
