Any reason Starocci doesn't seem to dislike Gable then? Or Bo Nickal? Shouldn't he be jealous of their popularity as well? Since your logic is Starocci is jealous of anyone with more popularity than him despite having less titles. He's jealous of a guy .... 11 years older than him and last wrestled for PSU 10 years ago. I think it's very obvious where Starocci's beef with DT comes from. There's more evidence to support my speculation than yours.
You're right about one thing, Starocci loves attention and guess what? He gets it. His heel methodology works. He has goals beyond NCAA wrestling which is small potatoes compared to MMA anyways.
I think you're taking it a little too seriously. I'm not saying jealousy consumes them. I'm saying it would be pretty natural to be jealous of a guy in the same program who gets more attention and more money even though you believe you're just as good as he is.
Maybe I'm wrong? I can't prove anything. It was just a theory. I don't think being jealous makes you a bad person, but I can see how it would be interpreted as a shot at the character of those two.

They may have been 7 when he graduated, but the majority of those very elite recruits who are from PA or NY have probably worked out next to the Gold Medalist in Lorenzo or caught a clinic being taught by the Gold Medalist or attended a session in the Gold Medalist's own personal wrestling room/building. Until very recently Taylor's face was up there on the PSU banner for all to see.

Yes....it is quite amusing. You don't have to look back too far in the posts to read opinions that DT and the MM2 training center is the best recruiting tool PSU wrestling has ever had. A club that ensures a PSU pipeline to the best recruits......Far beyond what Young Guns ever accomplished. Now some are: DT who? At least we are consistently inconsistent

I think the average fan(whatever the hell that is) would say CS is the face of PSU wrestling. To us die-hards,is it possible to have more than one "face" to the program??
In my mind, James English,Nick Lee,and Bo are just as much "the face" of PSU wrestling as DT. What it all boils down to is "the face" has many opinions and perceptions. That doesn't make mine correct and yours wrong or vice- versa.

True story, while attending WACC I was classmates with a guy that lived in Prince Farrington's original home. He was a well known bootlegger during prohibition and the Feds came to him to provide whisky for Coolidge's inauguration, because of the quality. I was watching a show on the Dicover channel yesterday when an ad for the Olympics came on. It had DT and a track and field guy from PA. DT says he is an Olympic wrestler from state college and was looking forward to Paris. Surprised they were still airing this spot.
It is rather amusing...and satisfying hearing from a Hawkeye about how awesome Penn Staters are in comparison to each other!
Beautiful country heading up 44 out of Jersey Shore. The Pine Creek basin is extraordinary. Is Fin, Fur and Feathers still still around? Used to keep animals there too. Only place around for miles. There used to be a spot on 44 where we would stop and take a fresh drink of water coming out of the rocks along the road. That was 50 years ago though.
Endorsements, clothing line, social media profile, national media profile, getting a top 5 job with no D1 experience, etc...

I pointed out that fans will always take the side of the program over guys who leave and I put out a theory as to why these guys might not like each other. That's it.
DT is far more popular than AB or Starocci. I'm not telling you how to feel about it. That's just a fact and the only reason anybody is pretending not to know that is because DT just left. Which is fine!

AB and Carter won't gain any of that in 10 years, none at all. Their popularity has peaked in NCAA wrestling.
So, using your logic, I guess Bo Nickal has DT beat on just about all of the above then. You do realize that DT is 10 years older than these guys, right? Talk about dense!
Does Brooks even have social media pages? If so, he doesn't use any of them very often. Kinda funny that someone that's suppose to be so jealous of David Taylor's popularity is avoiding things that could actually make him popular.
As for Carter, he's so jealous that David is beloved that he spends his time on social media doing whatever he can to offend fanbases coaches and wrestlers outside of State College.
I know exactly where your talking about. I'm heading home on Sunday with my boys for a week on Pine Crick and the Loyalsock. I also attended Wacc in between leaving Lycoming, Penn State during summers, and Bloomsburg. Small world.
This is beyond delusional. Fact is, Penn State fans love all three wrestlers. Carter and AB have done things DT never did. Likewise, DT has done things neither AB or CS have had the opportunity to do so. AB is now there. Carter was seriously injured. It will come for him in due time. To think either is jealous is historically funny.
You're talking about two, four time NCAA Champions, which DT never did. No one in this ridiculous scenario of yours has a reason to be jealous.
AB is so worried about being popular, his answer for that was to offend the people of the largest Religious group in the world.

PSUs most popular wrestler will come in the future. Some kid eventually will be a 4xer, with 2 or 3 Hodge trophies and a career bonus rate over 90%. It's inevitable.
You have to admit David has been unequaled so far in bonus % and that is what drives excitement, and in turn to a great extent popularity. It also doesn't hurt that he was our first bonus superstar in the Cael age, moreso than Ruth, who never seems to get the respect he earned.
If Bo had been Cael's first 'stud', he might well have gone down as the most popular so far - only one unfortunate roll through from being a 4xer
Even Bo, Nolf and Zain all as 3xers couldn't achieve the level of bonus dominance DT achieved. Neither Carter nor AB were close to even that trio in terms of bonus percentage, so national championships alone don't translate necessarily to overall popularity.
