A touchy group they are. An Amine (I wont say which one) reached out to me on X asking why the low blow towards Cam. I think it was about me joking that Mark and Kelly Rippas kid was beating Cam in room and necessitated his transfer. Lol. I was like dude, every fan of college wrestling knows that's not happening. IT WAS A JOKE MY MAN! LOL
But we know that the multiple reports of Nico being beaten in the room by just about everyone are not a joke. An inside source named Spyker assures us that the story is true. 😆

DT might be the highest paid coach in wrestling. Making what appears to be $950,000/year.

I see Lockett staying with Oklahoma State when the dust settles. I think it's possible he thinks he's taking a leap of faith with a new coach (as great of a wrestler as DT was, it's still a transition to college coaching by DT's own admission) Lockett can wait until after NCAAs to officially sign if he wants (nobody is going to pull his offer) and if DT has tremendous 1st year results, I think he's all in.

These are all great gets by DT and shows kid trust his development abilities. 2025 kids for the most part were spoken for but he managed to flip 2 kids (one being an Oklahoma kid) and land another good kid in Ramirez. Know he put the full court press on for Marcus Blaze (last uncommitted big prize) Wouldn't be shocked to see a few more flips (possibly PA kids like Rath, Seidel, Shaw)

We have no info on Blaze. Everyone I know with good info has nothing on that front because DT isn't talking. What info came out the other side? Snow balls chance in hell?

Your guess is as good as mine to be honest. From what I hear, the kid does not like recruiting so if he is talking/taking a visit to Oklahoma State, in the very least he is interested so absolutely a "snow balls chance in hell" at a minimum.

I’m interested to see who ends up being our RTC HC. The position hasn’t been filled and we’ve held off adding any senior athletes. Seems to point to us waiting on some one or some thing. August 12th thru the 19th or 20th could be interesting.

The nice thing about the RTC HC is it's not a must fill position immediately. All your college coaches will double up duties and all athletes will be expected to take on a mentorship role as well (if the model is anything like PSU/NLWC, which I fully expect it to be) I could be wrong but I think Varner was the first ever offcial NLWC HC that didn't have a role with the PSU college team anymore.

I know JO is petitioning for it and seems serious about a return to international wrestling but I imagine DT wants to see they are on the same page program wise (which is what he did with Caldwell before awarding him the last assistant job)

I’m sure Ok State will fill out its RTC once this freestyle cycle ends after the Olympics and Worlds (non Olympic weights). It’ll be interesting to see the coach and athlete movement.

I’m curious if DT decides to first build up the RTC or focuses on building up his college team and recruiting for a year or so. It sounds easy to say he should do both now, but that’s no small undertaking. I could see him be like Cael and focus his first few years on college development. Then try to springboard off of that into the RTC.

Not sure DT will have the luxury of time that Cael had. Cael invented the model so took his time perfecting it. I continue to believe DT fills the RTC with Dake. A big splash name that will attract graduates as well as high schoolers to the program. The added bonus is that Iowa will cry that OSU got two all time greats in 2024 when they left freestyle while they got Bobby Telford.

Robideau flipping is kinda wild... Committed as a freshman, only to flip this late.

Makes me wonder if there wasn't smoke to the Lockett going to Iowa State rumors... You really gonna spend a bag on both of them so close in weight to each other?

maybe… maybe not. I will tell you that the money situation hasn’t had anything to do with how much money we’re paying. DT squeaks when he walks

Robideau projects at 149 per Willie ... guessing he doesn't cut much right now for 150. He certainly won't be more than a 157 I imagine then. Willie projects Lockett at 174, it wouldn't shock me, he has a long frame and I imagine that leaves Routledge at 165. Imagine DT has Forrest penciled into his future lineup already and all the other Top 2026 kids fit (Bassett, Munaretto, Raneys) his lower weights needs combined with Ramirez. If they see Merrill as a career 197, then I imagine Ross or the Mocco boy will be a big target. That leaves 184/197 and there's a plethora of kids DT can target there from the NJ/PA. This is all before portal considerations even.

A big thing to consider is DT will heavily invest in the RTC, which is essential to maximizing the potential of these kids. I imagine filling out his RTC is every bit as much of a priority for him as recruiting. Kids are better than ever coming out of HS and there are more good kids than ever. The gap between the top kids is not significant (Desmond beat Deluca in folk and was just neck and neck with Forrest in free and Ramirez just beat Desmond I believe at the same tournament he almost beat Forrest)

I think that shows DT is a naturally good recruiter. Robideau is a Minnesota kid who has been planning to be a Gopher forever but wants to wrestle for DT. I don't think he's a kid DT would offer some huge pay day for.

Another thing to consider, I believe Dalton Perry and Landon Robideau has wrestled quite a bit so DT has probably gotten a good look at the latter. Perry was documented one of DT's favorite students at M2 (no I don't think he's flipping, his mom works for PSU so he's going to school basically for free as is)

Anyone know what the story is with M2? Move it to Oklahoma, sell it, DT maintains passive ownership, and a stronger tie to PA recruits?

It's not his top puriority at the moment, but it's a bit of a conflict of interest if not a distraction, not to mention M2 needs a new headliner to draw in the best

I haven't heard a peep, and not much talk here about it either.

Any chance DT spends money on Perry or any of his other M2 kids.
People assumed they would all flock to him or is it he isn’t pursuing them?
I don’t think he was as close to Kasak, Ryder, Desmond and Duke like people assumed

Mark McKnight was the partner who ran M2 and is now the owner.

Kids have a hard time leaving Penn State as is let alone if they're one of the top starters and having a lot of success. Everyone said Levi because he was one of DT's earliest students but that's assuming his relationship with DT is stronger than the ones he now has to the 3 C's, his teammates, his entire family (and serious GF) being in Central PA. Kasak to my knowledge wasn't a full time M2 kid being a Doylestown (BECA) kid. Desmond is a part time M2 kid as well. The other 3:

Perry - said when he committed to PSU it's the school he has always wanted and he would have just gone to PSU as a regular student if he couldn't have wrestled. His mom also works for the school which gives him a 75% discount up front I believe.

Duke - not a M2 kid, I think people keep thinking he is one because he's friends with Ryder, he's a KD kid. His schools were all East Coast schools to my knowledge (Cornell, Penn State, NC State and Navy)

Ryder - was a one year M2 kid (previously at KD but moved to get in state tuition at PSU) and seems already at home at PSU before he ever even joined the team

DT was one part of PSU, definitely a selling point when he was here, I venture a guess and say he wasn't the #1 reason any kid committed to PSU so I don't think kids will uproot themselves to Stillwater. That being said, he absolutely is a tremendous recruiter who will get kids we are after going forward but I never bought "he was going to take the PSU team with him" narrative

Mark McKnight and Brad Pataky were more involved in the day to day but DT was the big name they flashed (obviously) and he was involved as well. The website hasn't change, I imagine DT is possibly looking to sell his stake and that'll take time I imagine. I don't see how he could possibly own it in any way, that just seems like a tremendous conflict of interest and I imagine he wants a feeder closer to him anyways.

If Ok state does go all in for Dake. I think we should absolutely entertain bringing Sidakov to NLWC. Could be a transcendent addition to the club and American top team.
And Sadulaev too. If we really could land those two guys, DT would be out of ammo for a counter shot, and TnT would probably hang it up knowing they will never again see the top of the podium.

Iowa be like "Why would you pay that much for a guy who doesn't wrestle collegiately anymore? One year graduate come and go transfers is the way to spend that money!"

I believe this relevation will end up being spot on and before I cause panic, no it is not a PSU commit or current wrestler but it is a stud.
