Not good enough - notwithstanding the dreams of glory in Pittsburgh on your board.

Hmm. It's tempting to say that the Bad Attitude boys and bottom-feeding Brands Brothers land another Bad Boy. Well, at least it keeps the drama going for another year or so and provides some of the wrestling world with another reason to root against the Land of Corn.

As much as I wanted to see him in blue & white and maybe give Nick a redshirt year to become more Zain like, I was quite hesitant fearing he would inevitably have repeat "issue" on the mat. I also doubt he would have been a full 3-year starter with us. Good for him. I hate to say it but now I have 2 Hawkeyes that I enjoy to watch, and can even root for at times like when tOSU comes to town.

Glad you had enough money to buy a computer and start going to wrestling matches so you can make a idiot post. Nice to have new fans in the sport.

If Brands can't win in 2020, it'll be quite sad.

Have to hand it to you Penn State fans come up with some funny stuff. Can u explain to me how and why its going to be sad? You will still be around 20-30 points favorite in 19-20. Most likely only have 8 number one ranked wrestlers from high school in starting line up. Would say if Penn State loses it Cael must have been sick or injured all year makes more sense.

If DeSanto has any ongoing issues like we saw this year, the guy who will straighten him out is Spencer Lee. I've listened to several videos where he was being interviewed, and he really has his act together. Peer pressure is often way more persuasive, especially for guys who are DeSanto's age. It will be interesting to see how he develops in that program.

Article on Trackwrestling discusses his decision-making:
Iowa picks up commitment from Drexel transfer Austin DeSanto.

1. I wish him well at Iowa.
2. Rutgers seems like it would've been a better fit for him, personality wise. But he said his goal is to become a nat'l champ and he thinks Iowa can get him there. I can't disagree that his chances of progression are much higher under Brands than Goodale. He also was drawn to the Iowa fan base when there for the world cup this month: “The fans were really cool.... They didn’t let Spencer walk five steps without someone wanting an autograph or a picture."
3. I'm relieved he's not coming to PSU.
4. I worry for his Iowa training partners (e.g., Lee). I understand he has a hard time controlling his aggression during practice.
5. I will be surprised (pleasantly) if he is still on a D1 team for the 2019-20 season.

Iowa fabs are so excited thinking they can take over for the Bucks in challenging the Nits by adding DeSanto, Lugo, and Warner to Lee, Kemerer, Marinelli, Wilcke, and Stoll. Lee’s the only one that would crack the PSU line-up.

Teasdale, RBY, and Berge will makeup Zains points so 140+ should be their score next year. That would have PSU scoring 550+ over a four year period. Only Iowa 83-86 has done that. Should be fun. Then the next wave takes over in 19/20.

Good for Desanto. Iowa is the perfect fit in my opinion. Desanto has a ton of respect for Spencer and Spencer has respect for Desanto.....and will be kicking his butt in practice :). I really enjoy watching both of them wrestle. The Brands will be good for him ( I believe ) and it makes Iowa a legitimate contender. Plus who wouldn't want to wrestle in front of 10,000 fans on a regular basis for big matches. Good for Desanto...Good for Iowa and good for wrestling. I still put my money on PSU......just makes it more interesting :).

May be only one of Teasdale and RBY in the lineup for 2018/19; lots of ways this could rack out. Also premature to say that PSU will be better than DeSanto at 133, Lugo at 149, Warner at 197, and Stoll at 285. Without more data, right now I'd guess that PSU and Iowa will be pretty even at those weights.

You sound like a fool who lives vicariously off of the wrestling and even more pathetically off the forums from elsewhere that are much better than your local yokels. Go home and pout and look at the old and golden days when Iowa could put up a competitive team. I suspect you are hopeful to the extent that Iowa can continue to pilfer its best guys from PA and the East: Kemmerer, Lee, DeSanto, et. al. Midwestern cornfed and inbred folks like yourself just don't know what to do with the speed and intelligence and quick-wittedness of people (especially wrestlers) who live closer to the coast where life isn't so dull.

Can't you find your own forum, mini-hawkeye? There should be something for bored trolls out there, right?

Sure you aren't from HR? Those are the types of things I have heard about that board ;)

Huh? Go to sleep little Hawkeye. You are up past your bedtime. Iowa's wrestling days are gone. Iowa style is so boring (push, shove, grunt, complain, stall, and add the melodramatic histrionics of the coach or other guys with Napolean compexes like Gilman or Ramos for sound effects) and the fans are mostly fat fellows who wear sweat pants, drive pick up trucks (even if they have nothing to pick up) all the while complaining about Washington, Hollywood, and anything left of Atilla the Hun.

No dual, but by the end of the year Bravo-Young will be dominating DeSanto.

It does make the Hawks stronger as a team and they may finally be able to challenge for second best behind Penn State. Maybe.

From a wrestling stand point this makes a lot of sense for both parties. However, I have my doubts that the Brands are the right coaches for a guy as volatile as DeSanto. If history is any indication, he will get worse, not better, during his time at Iowa. Certainly does make the upcoming season more interesting.

Drunk messaging? Your disdain for conservatism gets the better of you from time to time, Professor. This is a WRESTLING board, not a political board.

Keep it to wrestling- the petty insults aren't needed or wanted. We get the point- you don't like Iowa. Let it go...

I'm excited for Austin for this opportunity, and for PSU to have a potentially stronger rival. I hope both can make the best of it. The legend grows...

I'm with the folks that wish Desanto well. Heaven only knows how this will work out for him in Iowa, only time will tell. From a wrestling standpoint, it makes Iowa better, but there's that whole behavioral side of things, and maybe Spencer, as a teammate, may be the best thing for the young man. Who doesn't want a young man to end up classier, regardless of team?

A few quick thoughts:
1. Partnering with Spencer = best move he could've made from a wrestling standpoint, and from a personal growth standpoint.

2. Spencer will not be in any danger -- as if he won't be protected like the crown jewels. Saying otherwise is trolling Hawks.

3. This might force Terry to develop some self-restraint, which ultimately is good for Iowa if it makes the sport less interesting.

4. When is the Michigan dual?

As to Hawk wrestlers, how can you not appreciate Michael Kemerer. Good kid, tough wrestler.

I wish the best to DeSanto and hope the Bands brothers can rechannel his emotions. However, when Iowa wrestles any 133 PSU guys (at tournaments), I'll kick into the fund to get a second referee on the mat for safety purposes.

I hope the Big10, brings back two refs for all duals next season. The experiment failed.

I think the Brands will handle him ok and as others have said, Spencer's influence can only help. Better them than Goodale and Fight Club U, which would've ended predictably bad.. I wish the young man well.

Another year and another team brings in a transfer that will help them overtake PSU, but then the NCAA tourney happens and PSU is at the top once again. DeSanto is fun to watch (minus when he is trying to injure somebody) and a solid wrestler, but he is no McKenna. The one question nobody is asking is how will he do so far away from his support system at home?
