Dismissed PSU DT Cam Carter is transferring to Pitt

Penn State had four turnovers on the road and still only lost by three. Cut the turnovers down this year and Penn State wins by three TD's minimum. Gonna get ugly.

Pitt had turnover too and won the game with no sign of a down field passing game. Again trying to rationalize the loss. Bottom line is on that day Pitt was the better team. We'll see how things unfold next season. For as bad as Pitt's D was last year they only loss big to Miami. Every game was close.

Pitt will only be replacing 2 linemen and one of the replacements is a former starter that suffered a knee injury. So, essentially 4 starters return. The new OC and QB will definitely be a concern but Duzz is looking to keep most of the key elements of Canada's offense. Pitt won last year with literally no passing game. The passing game will be better than it was last year against PSU and as I said before, the defense can't get any worse. I have no doubt PSU will be good. So you think this game will mean more to Franklin this coming year then last year?

Curious as to why you say Pitt's passing game will be better when you have a new QB and a new OC. What is that based on? And I don't think this year's game means more to Franklin than last year. I think last year Pitt was better when the two teams played. I think this year PSU will be markedly better than Pitt and Franklin will not be inclined to call off the dogs. Just look at what he did to MSU for their silly lineman running for a TD up by 5 TDs stunt the year before. I think he'll do the same to Pitt if he has the chance for the BS negative recruiting your guy has perfected.

I enjoy the back and forth banter between Pitt and Penn State fans. It is very amusing. There is so much hatred there which is necessary for a good rivalry. Sometimes that hatred leads to irrational insults. As much as I hate to acknowledge this Penn Stae had a great year! Not even the loss to Pitt can over shadow that. They caught lightning in a bottle when they beat Ohio State and rolled through the rest of the schedule. Pitt had a decent season that was compromised by a subpar pass defense. Pitt is in a similar position that Penn State was last season. Duzz is going into his third year has some solid pieces coming back on offense but will have a young defense up front but the secondary should be better with a another season of experience. OL won't be as good as last year but there 3 starters and a former starter back. I think Pitt is poised for a similar breakout season like Penn State had this year. Opening up with OK State and Penn State will be difficult though. Obviously, Penn State will be favorite and rightfully so but I expect another physical and passionately played close game. Before the last game all I heard was Penn State was going to blow Pitt out then after the game all I heard was they had the veteran team and was suppose to win. I don't mind the banter between the fans but let's have some rational and honest discussion about both teams.

Steelwill how about the 7 senior starters with multi year starters on that defense your genius D coach has to replace? See ya in Happy valley in early September. Bring your A+ game .... You're going to need it, because we got some paybacks coming all season long for getting screwed out of the playoffs !

What's Pitt's worse loss in the last five years? It's going to be worse than that. You better hold on to this year's win...hold it like a security blanket as you're getting boat raced.

Because Pitt returns receivers with some actually experience unlike last season. There were crazy expectations for Moorehead before he even coach a game at Penn State. All I read was how tired Pitt was going to be because you guys were going to be Oregon East.

I remember you, lol. You were on here writing big checks that your ass couldn't cash last year before the Pitt/PSU game. For your sake I hope PSU wins. You might do a swan dive off the top of the press box if they don't.

They will be replacing one of their best lineman and a reliable OT. If anyone gets injured during spring ball they are in trouble, because the depth is putrid. Max Browne differs from Peterman in the fact he is not mobile, so he may be a sitting duck.

Defensively, they lose 2 DT's their best pass rusher and every starting LB. not a good recipe for a team that was successful against the run. They replace all these guys with freshman or sophomores. You know what Freshman and Sophomores do early in the year? Make mistakes....see 42-39.

Penn State will be ready and based on some of the feedback from players on twitter they aren't letting the foot off the gas

Please show those posts. You can't because I felt Pitt would win, but nice try. And don't worry, Penn State will win by a lot. I think PSU will have some tough games next season, but Pitt won't be one of them.

Good points! Pitt used a lot of bodies on defense last year so there will be more experience than you think. Especially at LB. DL gain experience as well but you never know how that will translate. There will be question marks but thats every year for every team. You will definitely be expected to win the game!

Time will tell. I plan on being there!

Perfected to the tune of like 15% of mutually offered kids choosing Pitt the last few years.

A Pitt poster (and an admittedly decent one, hey it's a unicorn!) is here to lecture us about how we should move on and focus on 2017. They can have that game and the tshirts to go with it; it's what little brothers do. I'll take the 11 wins and pre-season hype and top 5 ranking. They'll take another 5-7 win season.

Some seem to be stuck on that loss. I'm just doing my best Dr Phil and trying to help people face reality! Lol.

I know who they have coming back. It's not an impressive list. I think another year in the weight room for penn States line is going to make for a long day up front for Pitt. The same can be said with the experience the Dline received this year.

By the end of the game last year, Pitt's oline was having a very tough time with penn States dline and our best DT and LB did it play. I don't like Pitt's options behind the starting four you mentioned

I don't like the option outside of the 4 I mentioned either because I don't know much about them. They are all young. Well duh, Pitt didn't have any true receiving threats going into that game so PSU crowded the box. We can do this all day long. You guys will be the favorite and Pitt will need to develop some depth along its front 7. I'm sure that will be a priority this spring.

Maybe you can borrow Dantonio or Harlan Barnett so they can teach Narduzzi how to coach D

O.K., so pitt beat Penn State in Week 2 last season. Penn State was a young team with new offensive and defensive coordinators, a new offensive line coach, a new starting quarterback, and was missing a starting linebacker (and lost another one during the game). Despite all of that, pitt, a more experienced team, won by just 3 at home, and Penn State had a chance to pull out the win.

Looking at the two programs now, Penn State finished #7 in 2016 and is ranked in the top ten in all 2017 pre-season polls. Penn State brings back the majority of its starters and has depth. Also, Penn State has been out-recruiting pitt significantly the past few years.

pitt finished unranked in 2016 and is coming off a loss in its bowl game to 6-6 Northwestern (7-6 after the bowl game). pitt is unranked going into the 2017 season. pitt is replacing many key starters and lacks depth. pitt has been out-recruited by Penn State the past few years.

Now, pitt athletic supporters are spewing about the 3-point win in Week 2 of 2016. Here is the question. Which program do pitt athletic supporters believe is better? Think hard.

Oh my God! It's like Groundhog Day. I keep getting the same recap of last years game from every poster. You will be favorite next season and Pitt has holes to fill but that does not guarantee PSU a victory. Recruiting is one aspect of the college game. You have to develop the talent that you acquire. Pitt will show up and play hard and inspired. It will be another great game!

By develop, do you mean finishing 11-3 and ranked #7 or is your idea of developing losing to Northwestern to go 8-5? By the way, how is that secondary development going in the AllFlyzone?

Hiding for what and from whom? Not my style. I'm the guy that rocks my cowboy gear the day after a loss.

And obviously Franklin and his staff can develop players. Narduzzi...not so much. Everything you keep bringing up points to a big Penn State win. Oh wait, you said Pitt will play hard, I guess that means PSU won't. I would say PSU will be far more motivated with a home game, revenge factor and playing for a shot at the CFP. All things that weren't really there in September last year.

You caught lightning in a bottle last season. Congrats! But success is not tranferable season to season. Each season is its own separate entity. You won't sneak up on anyone next year and everyone will be gunning for you. All this talk in January mean nothing at all.

Funny what a good season can do for a coach and the fan base. Player development and being out coached was a common talking point with PSU fans. Keep in mind Narduzzi just finish his 2nd season at Pitt and back to back 8-5 season aren't great but it show sign of stability for now. Maybe year three is Narduzzi's breakout year? No one saw 11-3 for PSU after starting 2-2.

The irony of a Pitt fan saying it's like Groundhog Day in here coming from Pantherlair

The only team catching lightning in a bottle last year was pitt. They beat two teams that probably would have beat them by 3td's plus if they played them again. Everyone in the country knows that but you

The fact that Franklin had winning seasons in his first two years showed he could coach...only the impatient and unrealistic fans thought different. As far as your lightning in a bottle reference...that's funny. Top recruiting classes, great coaching staff, and overly talented players coming back does not equal lightning in a bottle.

Best of luck to the kid. I'm not going to attack him because of what Pitt fans have said. He screwed up and he's getting another opportunity. Hopefully he learned from his mistakes. I know many here hate Narduzzi but the man can coach. There's worse places to end up than Pitt. Such as Rutgers.
What is the proof Narduzzi can coach? The 4 and 5 loss seasons or his inability to win Bowl games?

So you predicted 11-3? Overly talented! Really? Top recruiting classes? Top 25 classes not top 10. Plus all the bitching and moaning last recruiting cycle because of the late de-commitments. Suspect offense line, new QB, new OC, and new DC. Stop trippin, there where plenty of question mark for Penn State coming into the season. If we are going to talk football you need to keep it real! Last season was definitely lightning in a bottle. Now if you go 11-3 next season I would say it would be expected.

No mercy in September. Count on it. Franklin will have Trace and Say Say in the game with 5 minutes left, up 45 points.
