Franklin

PSU could and would go on the road - in the toughest venues in college football - AND WIN! At Texas, at Alabama, at Notre Dame, at Ohio State, at Nebraska, at Pitt, at Miami, at USC. Many of these games were against teams ranked #1 at the time. And we won!
psu needs to go back to this part of its history and take a lesson about scheduling. increasingly since 2000, the policy has been maximum home games no matter what. so maybe Northwestern-bye week-UMass isn't the best way to get ready for a game like Ohio State? maybe they need to finally revisit their ideas about scheduling games.

It's not THE reason, it's A reason.
Ok - not what you said in the post though. He should want it for the team, the university, and the fans who pay the bills. What you stated really should be just a byproduct of satisfying the rest.

Nowhere did I say that's the only reason he wants it. It's an extra personal motivator for him. But the prior poster saying Franklin is comfortable with 10-2 care and doesn't want more is completely untrue and Franklin's comments about wanting to be the first black coach to win one is a specific example to show that Franklin does want it and is motivated to do it.

It's just odd of all things that's what you would list first.

Your opinion and I'll keep mine.

Also what's ridiculous is you saying that I said he didn't care. Instead of just jumping in where you think you can throw shit, read the other posts. I specifically said that I think he cares and hates losing. He is just in a comfortable place with how things fall because he is safe. I'm sure he wants to win it all, there would be a bigger issue if he didn't. I hope he gets to be the first African American coach to win a Natty but he needs to figure some shit out. Feel free to disagree, but do some research on previous posts before you throw shit out there.

Nope he sure can't, which leads back to my original post of what do you want as a University and a fan base. If he can't do it then is that something that everyone is happy with or is it not. It's all personal preference and what as a fan your content with and what the University is getting what they think they are paying for. Just because I think he is comfortable, does not mean I think he likes losing these games or doesn't care. I just think that at the end of the day he can be hurt and upset with a loss but also be comfortable with how the outcome falls because at this moment the ones that matter are happy with the product their getting that's all.
Here ill go back and find my quote for you.

Read the post. It had nothing to do with wether he was hurt by the loss. It pointed to the fact of wether he is Elite and win National Championships or simply be a 9-3 or 10-2 team. He is comfortable in the fact that no matter which of the above happens he is safe and getting paid.
You don't know how he feels. He may go home and pound his drywall for all you know. The fact that he keeps his composure in front of the cameras may simply be professionalism. Frankly, it's a good lesson for his players, some of whom were ranting and raging on the sideline as the clocked ticked down. He's not perfect by any stretch but yours is just idle speculation.

Saying he "might" go home and pound his drywall is as well. We have to use what we have. He lacks emotion that you see with Smart, Saban, Day, Harbaugh, and every other great coach. Joe as well. Hell, Urban shows more in the studio

saying that joe showed emotion, you are clearly talking about 1990s and earlier. 2000s Joe just stood there in a windbreaker jacket and occasionally said something to an assistant

Your right I am speculating , I stated in my initial post it was a fear that he became comfortable. I also said that I'm sure he hates to lose, it hurts and that he cares. Problem is poster's reply to a comment and don't read a thread and view where the conversation started. Most takes on message boards are opinions and people speculating.

He wasn't as animated as the others but more than Franklin even in the 80s. Prior to that I only have video to go off.
