If they all pitch better than they did last year. Including NolaIt has the makings of a radically-improved rotation. One can dream.

I assume Rendon is gone.
I assume Strasburg will be back. The concern there is locking him in beyond his expiration date.
I almost feel bad for Philadelphia and how badly they got screwed with the Harper deal. I mean there is no other way of looking at it. Everyone in DC had concluded the guy was overrated. Nobody expected a WS without him, but also nobody thought he would take us to one.
The key to this team is the pitching and. OF. they have locked in Robeles already. He is only 22. Soto is 21. Supposedly there’s a future all star SS coming up through the farm system. The owners have lots of money too. This team will make noise for a while.
Don't believe that the Yankees, or any other team for that matter, has or had that much dead money, though I haven't checked the Pirates payroll recently.
Just for conversation sake.......I am also a Pirates fan.......and have never seen or heard Garrit Cole do anything to make me dislike him. A case could be made that he was mis-managed by the Pirates. This summer he even pointed out he did not pitch as well as he should have for Pittsburgh. He did not have to say this ......but he did.
Your quote by him merely is him saying that he is a free agent after a tough loss.....seems like something all of us on this board would also be saying. Garrit Cole has been severely under paid up until this point in his career.
if you can’t see that from a PR perspective that he handled this poorly and makes himself look selfish, then I don’t know what to tell you. And about being underpaid.. He’s still a millionaire that’s about to cash in on a $200+ million payday
well....if he does get paid 200 mil.......I guess he didn't hurt his PR too much did he?
Houston has had a year and a half to extend him and hasn't gotten it done. How do we know Houston hasn't told him they won't pay him market value and in effect chosen to cut him loose. We also don't know if Houston didn't insult Cole with their offers, especially when he has obviously been one of the most dominant pitchers the last two years.
You can choose to dislike Cole.......but to make a case it's based on how he has acted in declaring he is a free agent......which he is.........it appears you are reaching....
Cole signed this year for 13 Mil. Greinke just got paid 34.4 Mil. this year. Cole hasn't said much about what it will take to sign him.
I understand your hate for Boras. However, there is currently zero evidence the Cole has ever tried to screw over Houston or the game. People should be asking .......why did Houston take on Greinke's contract rather than pay Cole? I know if I was in Cole's shoes in the workplace that would have offended me.......especially after I took one for the team and signed for 13 Mil.
As a side note.....people are judging Cole by a flippant remark he made in a press conference AFTER the season is OVER. On the other hand, Greinke ........the guy with the 34.4 Mil contract refuses to talk to the press 99% of the time due to it makes him "uncomfortable".
His friends speculate he will return to SoCal where he is from. I would say Joe Maddon hit the lottery again. Yankees would be a dark horse (team that drafted him).
Yes, that is why the Angels still have to pay Albert Pujols like $28 million a year despite the fact that he hit the wall 1 or 2 years into his 10 year contract.
