Iowa at Nebraska

Nobody cares about Chad Red or Tyler Bergers post match shenanigans? Just DeSanto?

I actually think they are all clowns especially Red for basically doing zero and acting like that. TNT were supposed to be a good influence on AD and the thought was that they would nip his behavior in the bud, but he is actually getting worse. I guess it's a matter of time before he does something really stupid, but who knows.

Maybe the worst is that, unlike the Micic match, he succeeds in injuring an opponent.
So what would you do if you were his coach? Suspend him for taunting because you think it will lead to him trying to intentionally hurt someone again?

Yea that's definitely part of it. He also wrestles more like a Brands then any other Hawk I can recall during their era. He is out there in this crazed state with a non stop motor where it's literally life or death to him.
That’s pretty much it. He gets into a zone and let’s nothing interfere with it. He’s 100% Iowa. My guess is he stays inside the important lines and finishes top 4. Can’t see Micic not figuring him out.

Maybe it's just me, but, when it comes to the "extracurriculars", I am generally less likely to give the benefit of the doubt to guys that have intentionally tried to injure opponents in the past.
So you are a one strike and lock them up kind of guy?

Bench him until he demonstrates emotional control.

I would deliberately call it a benching instead of a suspension -- and tell him very clearly that conduct is part of winning the job.

You guys were better as the victors instead the victims all the time. this version of your fans is just boring.
20 years ago when the Hawks were at the end of the dominant run they were still the victim. Everybody cheers against us, waaaaa waaaaa waaaa.

Same circus, same clowns, same woo be me routine. Only difference now is they no longer have the best circus, nor clowns and their whining which was a little mocking 20 years ago is now rooted in bitterness.

Nope. I didn't say anything about locking anyone up.

The question was about reactions to those "extracurriculars".

I tend to react differently to guys who have had past issues with keeping emotions in check, especially trying to injure opponents.

Manning definitely had it coming. Do you think he coached Jensen into leg "Turk"ing Stolls mangled knee for 4 min? I do. It was definitely on Sam to get out but that was tough to watch. My knee is currently healing from surgery and I was cringing. Please just make it to March Sam!

One strike? Come on. That's true only if you stop counting after 1.

You guys should be able to look into the mirror, smile, and count close to the number of DeSanto's strikes.
I was specifically referring to him trying to injure an opponent. He’s done that once. If you associate taunting leading to trying to injure there would be a whole lot of guys benched. Now if he does lose it and do something again similar to what he tried to do to Micic, I will be the first to say he should be kicked off the team.

Even if you excuse all the other misconduct and count only the attempts to injure, Chaz Tucker thinks you're short by at least 1.

Marinelli can whip Cenzo in a duel for all I care (if your program wasn’t ducking us and everyone else); we’ll hang another banner regardless and you guys can pretend it’s 1985 again.[/QUOTE]
probably if 1895

Because I don't want to see anyone have to MFF out of NCAAS because of a broken arm when he loses.
I understand Desanto last year at NCAAs was rough during the Micic match. This year DeSanto has lost and walked off the match fine. Seems like a silly thing to fear when he proved that he can walk off the match after a loss this year. I don't think him celebrating today gives any evidence that he is going to do anything like he did last year.

I just had my quad tendon reattached Tuesday. Then yesterday I caught a rug a little funny underfoot on the bad leg side. Despite wearing the immobilizer and following all orders, looks like I’ll go back under the knife.:(

Yeah. Berger did it to Nolf too. Definitely coached.

He cost Iowa another team point today. I believe that is the last 3 consecutive duals that he has wrestled in, possible an all-time record.

"Seems as though everyone missed when desanto and the neb guy went oob into Nebraska’s bench Berger stood up and said something very unsavory. Desanto was staring directly at him the whole way back to center and even when he got set on top. I need to rewatch the replay a couple times but something was absolutely said"

Just read this on TheMat forums.

I am going to have to go back and look myself. I do know one thing. I will be enjoying every second of Nolf shredding Berger apart soon. Do you guys remember his crap talk/actions against Kemerer? Kemerer might be one of the nicest guys on the planet!

Sorry to hear that Mike. It’s so hard to be totally immobilized, at least you weren’t further along if there’s any positive to it. Sorry

If that cost Iowa a team point then oh boy are these refs getting soft. Berger did a very similar thing and didn’t have a team point taken. If you dish it, you gotta be able to take it

Walked over to the Iowa bench after the win and did this. I have no problem with any of the yapping today. If you dish it out then you gotta be able to take it though.

Thanks for that. I would characterize Berger's antics as "lame". The "this is my house" stuff works better after an ass-kicking, rather than squeaking out a win in OT.

That said, one could argue that Iowa really has a lot of this stuff coming after repeated punk-like outbursts over the years, by both wrestlers and (more regrettably) coaches.

Without defending Berger because that's futile -- funny how little similar conduct is directed at other coaches (at least not involving Ashnault).

Forget Cael -- it doesn't happen to Ryan or Pop or Koll or Santoro.

It's almost as if the Iowa coaches yap at opposing wrestlers during matches.

Did anyone else see Manning take DeSanto by the wrist and what looked like scream at him.
DeSanto after having his arm raised turned to be the first in line for the post match hand shake. Not sure which kid it was, red hair, but DeSanto and the Nebraska kid had a hold of each other's hand chirping at each other as they kept moving. Just as it looked like it might be something Manning grabbed DeSanto's wrist, ripped it away and was screaming something. Descalated the situation, but for a second I thought that might actually escalate the situation.

I saw it. I don't have much of a problem with it, but some will. Manning about lost his marbles. He was pretty aggressive with Austin's hand. This day and age those types of situations become tricky tacky.
