Iowa Lineup

As much as I want to believe that, Young is not exactly ranked at his ceiling, and Lugo is not wrestling like the guy we saw last year. 149 is wide open, and so Lugo is very much in the conversation for huge points -- which could more than make up for any unexpected deficiencies from Young.

I'll grant that 197 is a wild card, as the winner of Warner vs. "Warnerov" is anyone's guess . . . but so is Rasheed's health and conditioning.

Psychology at NCAAs is going to be as critical as I can ever remember.

I'll take Brayton Lee and Sasso over Lugo right now, for starters. Warner is talented but SO inconsistent it's easy to see him losing early. There are a ton of guys who could take out Young.
Iowa is the clear favorite as of today, but it's FAR from a foregone conclusion because so many of their guys are ranked higher than their likely final placing, IMO.

I always wondered about the Warner/Warnerov thing. Is it some form of joke? Background anyone?

One of the HR ring-leaders (who ultimately retreated to the safe confines of the Inner Circle when he couldn't handle "trolls" on HR last year) had been really high a couple of years ago on how great and dominant Warner was going to be. When Warner was planning to go to an event in Russia, the nickname "Warnerov" was created and used with great enthusiasm as a sign of how tough he was going to be. Our @danoftw is probably the expert on tracking when the nickname is and isn't in favor, but it certainly fell out of favor at times
last year and made a very brief resurgence after a win over Brucki at the Princeton dual earlier this season. It would appear Midlands and the Brucki rematch have since vanquished use of the "Warnerov" moniker once again.

So now some make reference to it as a dig at some of the HR personalities. I never had a problem with it per se, except for the one individual that makes a habit of talking a huge game and then going into pretend hiding when his utopia is challenged on his home turf.

I'm sure I'm not alone in agreeing with you that we're glad Iowa is back as well. Winning the close ones is always considerably more exciting than running away with it. Steel sharpens steel. Looking forward to the upcoming battles.

I like that saying, my friend..."steel sharpens steel." Amen to that! :)

Man, sorry to hear that. Am hoping for some payback after watching Minny beat the Lions at TCF. Even with Steveson back, I like our chances.

Not sure if you’re kidding, but when I mentioned Minny I meant Nationals to be held in Minny. I like our chances to beat the Gophers in that dual , but am less optimistic about winning the National Tournament.

Yeah, I was thinking of the local team. Didn’t see why that should be much of a problem. Thanks for the clarification.
