Iowa @ Ohio State PBP, Results and Discussion Thread

Why do you think he’ll be lucky to beat Wick? I can understand Deakin but I think Wick is ranked 15-20 and doesn’t have any notable wins.

Wording was probably a little off. I don't think he will be lucky to beat specifically Wick, but lucky to get through all the younger guys at this weight in general. Deakin is a beast and has the strength to deal with Sorenson (predicting a Deakin vs Zain rematch in the finals depending on how seeds play out). Wick is scrappy and I just like his style for some reason (just a personal feeling from watching too much wrestling). I think Hayes goes into the rematch with a lot more confidence and seeing them in person, Hayes is the superior athlete, no questions asked. Sorenson is strong and big and holds great position but also lets people hang around. Guys wrestle different when there is nothing to lose and I think Sorenson gets upset at both tournaments. Very similar to last year. Again just my personal prediction. I'm sure there is at least one person that would disagree.

Deakin is a volume shooter and that may hurt him against Sorenson keeping good stance and counter wrestling. An interesting match would be Grant Leeth. Leeth is a opportunist and not a volume shooter. Leeth's flexibility is crazy and will give all wrestler's issue. Leeth won't beat Zain but I wouldn't be surprised if Zain doesn't pin him because of his flexibility.

For anyone who claims BWI has a quick ban hammer, let this thread prove otherwise o_Oo_O
Granted, I've had no squabbles on here, but there's NO ONE to take it from more than me that BWI has a much slower ban hammer than HR, the Mat, the Open Mat, and Panther Nation, all combined.

Has Wick been hurt? I noticed he hasn’t wrestled since early December and have seen Cole Martin in the box scores.

I can't find anything on injury but that would be a safe guess. If you get a minute, watch the Wick vs. McCrystal from CKLV, awesome match, both guys left it all out. I just like the kid, he's a scrapper and doesn't back down. Let me know if you find any injury news.

I agree that Leeth is going to be an interesting matchup and if he wins out then it’s very likely he’ll be a 2 or 3 seed.

That was his last match so maybe he did leave it all out.

Still waiting for one direct quote with a post of mine that is delusional.

5% is too high of a chance? Hmm, Bowman had the cradle locked up. 5% chance that match could have resulted in a pin at that point right? That's a 10 point swing. They gave Martin a major (although as discussed he really only won by 7 pts). Kem could have majored. If Stoll goes he could keep it to major instead of tech possibly. I said all along I think OSU wins the dual, but it's clear there were avenues for Iowa to win and we saw that on Sunday. .

I wouldn't say intentionally misquoting someone to continue the narrative that that person is a delusional idiot is ball busting, it's being a douche.
how about insane, isn't the definition of insanity repeating the same behavior but expecting a different result. Does this sound familiar?

I avoided opening this thread because I figured a 12 page thread at the top of the forum list about an event that happened a few days ago probably didn't contain any good discussion and was just a dumpster fire. Should have trusted my instincts
Yup, when a thread goes 10+ pages here, there's a good chance that it got vodka'd. I would put the chances around 83% or so.

I must be going crazy because I didn't hear no reversal once, neither at the meet in person nor in the replay that I just watched. Do you happen to remember the time stamp because now I think I'm losing my mind. I clearly saw him (in person and on the replay) tell Tom that he awarded the reversal and Tom rolls his eyes right before they restart.
I'm not calling you out or saying you're wrong, I just can't find where he reversed the initial decision.
Any info would be appreciated.

On the video that vodka offered, the Big replay, you can see that the ref is putting Martin down after the shoe comes off and at 22:20 to 22:12 he says no reverse, no reversal twice. Then there is more confusion whether it’s injury time or not and Bowman ends up getting the opportunity to take bottom. I said this immediately after the match on here as well because it ultimately cost Iowa a team point. Do I think it was a reversal, yes, but the ref is clearly confused with everything going on.

You think it was a reversal? Even when Bowman had full control on top until Martin's shoe popped off? How is that a reversal?

Look, it’s time to go away! I’ve supported you three different times in this thread alone as to what the ref said. He also should not have given Martin back points twice for the Turk. That said, the match is over and it’s not going to change. So please feel free to go back to HR and discuss this as much as you like as this thread has gone on far too long with you having at least 20% of the posts. Your time would be better spent calling the balance of the D1 wrestling compliance offices.

Why would you get so hostile at me asking for clarification over your thoughts on that call. I don't see how anyone could possibly conclude that it was a reversal. That's why I'm curious why you said you think it was a reversal.

To this wrestling community...I am so sorry.

Roar, you are a classy guy and a true voice of reason. And I don't know why, but I always read your posts in my head in a James Earl Jones' voice. Just seems to fit your online persona :)

Unless you are a glutton for inanity, I feel like you learn pretty quick around here to not click on the threads that go beyond 6 pages--especially if Iowa is in the title.

Tribalism is never more apparent than when it comes to sports.

When you reject a fact just because the person stating it is from the other "tribe" and then call that person delusional and put them on ignore. Would be nice to hold discourse devoid of tribalistic bias and group think mentality.
