Cross country eww, just reading that makes my skin crawl. I’d rather wrestle a 20 minute go and puke my guts out than run a cross country meet. Thank god that wasn’t a thing in the early to mid 2000’s. Haha.It was a decades ago and we were only Div 3. But some of us were XC runners (that was a thing back then - wrestlers ran XC), but he wasn’t. Great guy. Good wrestler. Not a runner.

Carr beat him easily. Not really competitive.
They did. Carr looked very good. Got to his low single time and again. Kennedy couldn’t get to this offense at all. Think the score was 8-4 maybe 10-4. Carr and O’Toole are the class of 165 imo this year.

Anybody know if Spencer got bigger in the off-season? In the face it looks like he was dropping more weight this time around than is seasons past. I may me misremembering however I do not remember him looking like this in the past. He never looked as "sucked out" as others.
Stressful at times but it reminded me of the old competitive duals when ISU was a contender. ISU has some talented kids on their roster forsure. Props to them for showing up ready to battle.
So that's the team Iowa hopes to send to the NCAAs?

Finally watched the 1st half of that dual. Another funny Tim Johnson (or Gibbons) moment. Commenting on Spencer not looking tired - boom, he gets taken down and 5 seconds later something like: “Lee understandably tired after a long layoff”
That was a terrific dual! Spencer was completely spent coming off the mat but it's nice to see him back and braceless for his last hurrah. Swiderski is real fighter. He's going to be a problem down the road. Same with Nelson Brands at 174.
Say what you want about woods and his wrestling, but the chippiness at the end was all bc of Swiderski. Match ended, Swiderski still trying to wrestle and then pushed Woods for no reason. I am not an Iowa fan in the least but that was not on him.
two headbutts in the final 5 seconds, a snap plus 2 pushes after the whistle. then comes back to the center jawing for the handshake.
When I hear Tim Johnson, I think of PSU Football great, Tim Johnson. Pastor in Orlando, FL. Just an amazing human being.

Fun dual. Iowa State brought it and Iowa responded bringing out there big guns. Kind of surprised a few people in this thread questioning Brands sending out Spencer??
You kidding? Huge rivalry, if Spencer don’t go, they lose dual. I’d have done same damned thing every time if medically cleared which he was. Spencer came out and had enough in him for 1 period to do the damage. At the end of the day he was medically cleared, and it was Spencer’s call. And I applaud the decision.

Murin lost in OT to a guy who beat Gomez. Bastida beat Warner for the second time. Neither were a surprise.

After Woods had run from him for the last 45 seconds. I could see the frustration. Woods never scored a takedown.
The Desanto defenders think Swiderski is out of control.
I see a lot of compliments on HR about Swiderski aswell. Cherry pick what you will.
