Amos sounds like he’d make a good Cael understudy.
Ignoring the quality wrestling part for a moment.......I thought he actually looked like Cael during his interview that I just watched. Am I the only one? Granted.....I am finishing my third 9% double IPA ....I'll watch it again tomorrow :)

Emily Shilson is a badass!! Go watch her qf match. Wins 10-7 and shows tons of heart. Should have been a fall but the ref never bothered to get down and look. Fun match
Amit Elor is amazing as well. Quick 10-0 tech. I think she walks through this tournament

Emily Shilson wins a couple of matches....,,winning 6-3 over Bulgaria and then defeating the Russian 10-7 in a come from behind win.
Payton Shroud wins 5-2 over Chile.
Amit Elor techs 10-0
Kylie Welker with a 10-0 win over Germany
Mia Macalusa gets pinned while losing 4-0 vs Turkey
Payton Shroud tried many a headlock that slipped off and eventually got teched 10-0 to KGZ
Kylie Welker shows a clinic of Go-Behinds and one turn to tech Salina the Russian 11-0

Shilson match was indeed entertaining, the second half of it anyway. She clearly had her pinned, and from a rare combination, where she had a front headlock on the mat and switched to underhooks and just kind of flipped her. She also got points from a peterson.

UWW continually returning to that overhead camera view is a great example of producers confusing degree of difficulty for a good idea. Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. It's nice that you have a camera up there, and neat to open the first second or two of a match with that view, but it's confusing when they cut to it within the match.

O'Toole up for gold now at 74kg vs Kuanyshbay (KAZ).
  • He's in on a leg and gets two off a single and another two with a lace. 4-0.
  • Not much activity but late in period O'Toole shoots and gets a step-out point, 5-0 at break.
  • There's that damn overhead angle again. KAZ thought front headlock but can't get anything going.
  • O'Toole with a nice high-c that he nearly converted on but settles for a step-out. 6-0, 2 minutes left.
  • O'Toole in on a leg, there's a scramble, hello, points? Anyone?
  • O'Toole with a cradle now, gets two off of that. It's at least 8-0 and refs are discussing.
  • Refs gave O'Toole an additional two off the prior scramble, which gives O'Toole the tech at 10-0 but KAZ are challenging, saying KAZ got their own two. It was close but I don't think he broke 90.
  • Refs agree, and it's 11-0, O'Toole with his easiest match of the tournament, no heroics required. Congrats on a memorable gold medal run Keegan O'Toole.
  • O'Toole does a victory lap with the American flag, probably wondering just how golder his medal would be if he didn't have to overcome the liability of folk style all those years.

I saw that as 2 & 2, then the 2 off the cradle, so I thought it should be 8-2, but I'll take 10-0 if that's what it ends up being.

That guy right there is your OW, right? USA!

165 is going to be a barn burner too, with Griffith, Marinelli, this kid... Do I remember correctly that Mekhi is going 174?

Wouldn’t it be a gas if O’Toole somehow gets the 8 seed and Bull the 1

Amit Elor and Kylie Welker are going to make a terrifying 1-2 punch at the tail end of the lineup in a few years.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen Amit take a leg attack. She just grabs people and throws them to the ground.

If healthy, Kharchla is going to add something to the mix

Add in the Blades' sisters, and Japan might ought to start being afraid....

Elam up now for gold against Hajiloueianm (Iran) at 92kg.
  • A minute in and Haji's head is bleeding, now bandaged.
  • Both kids remarkably quick and lanky for 92kg, like mirrors of each other.
  • Haji put on clock, Elam with a point 1-0.
  • Elam dives for an ankle, picks it up, walks it out with time winding down. 2-0 at break.
  • Elam again dives for an ankle, Haji spins out and eventually gets behind to tie 2-2, Haji with criteria.
  • Haji's bandage comes off his head, but action continues, one minute remaining.
  • Elam in on a leg, but Haji with great D. Elam gets his arms around both legs and lifts for two as time winds down! Gold for Elam, great job answering the bell late.

Hendrickson up for bronze now at 125kg vs Bestaev (RUS)
  • Both going collar tie, Hendrickson warned for passivity.
  • Hendrickson now on the clock.
  • With time winding down on shot clock he gets a step out point, up 1-0.
  • Hendrickson with a head inside single and converts with under 10 seconds left, goes into break up 3-0.
  • Bestaev nearly had a possible 4 pointer but Hendrickson bailed out and only gives up one. 3-1.
  • Similar sequence, but this time Hendrickson looked to have given up at least 2 out of bounds, possibly 4. Ref offers 1, overruled. 5-3 Bestaev.
  • Hendrickson needs more than two with criteria. One minute remaining.
  • Hendrickson looking upper body but not getting a handle. :30 remaining.
  • Hendrickson with a decent double but Bestaev stuffs it, and turns it into his own two as time runs out. 7-3 final.

lol how many freestyle refs have you ever seen bend down let along go flat on the mat??they mostly call pins while standing straight up!!

That camera should only be used for replays and for perverts.

I’ve never seen it from anything other than on two knees with one hand on the mat.

Whoa. Shows Bartlett at ‘49, with Joe Lee ‘57, and Alex Facundo at ‘65.
Quite a look.
WrestleStat also has us losing a dual to:

Iowa
Michigan
Missouri
Oklahoma State
NC State

Which is kind of funny. I can see Iowa, and maybe Michigan. But the last three are just terrible.
