Michigan fans, feel free to chime in

After watching scUM this season, two things became evident to me
  • The collegiate game has evolved far beyond Jim Harbagh’s recollection of how to win
  • 4 and 5 star prima donna players select UM on the basis of their historic success and their “formerly successful” coach with an ordained expectation of playing at the “next level”
scUM’s problem is that they have a roster of talented individuals but not an actual team.

Any decommits yet? It’s been said in this board that kids decommit after blowouts
Except that they have already signed.

Might influence one of the few remaining players who are considering Michigan.

Just like the Moore, the OL who signed with South Carolina. The Gamecocks getting their head handed to them by Virginia probably does not bode well for him, but he has signed.

In all fairness, a coach can't really be judged until the entire roster is made up of players he recruited. Next year's roster will be made up of all Harbaugh recruits. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if UM was the heavy preseason BIG favorite. It should come down to next year's UM-PSU game as OSU/Day is a thing of the past. Think about that: making an assistant coach the HC at a major program. Bye bye sucknuts.

What “historic success”?

In May 1995, Lloyd Carr was an assistant coach with no HC experience outside of 2 years at High School.

Yet under fairly circumstances to OSU in 2018 (current HC leaving as part of a kerfuffle at the school), Michigan made Carr HC back in May 1995.

And that worked out well for Michigan. Carr was a good HC for Michigan in his 13 years there.

Point being: don't count out Day. It's foolish to do so.

Then using your logic, Franklin should be one of the greatest coaches of all time, as he won a conference championship with a mix of his players and players he inherited.
I’m hard pressed to see how UM will be a heavy favorite. But that’s fine too. Will be sweeter then as Harbaugh continues to lose.

I want some of whatever you're smoking.

The only place UM will be a "heavy preseason favorite" is on MGoBlog. And that may be a stretch, given the utter meltdown that has been going on there today.

This is priceless. How do I pin it up top to save this guy some time next year?

That is some utter BS. Hoke recruited very well. Stop this nonsense already. In 4 years he could show progress. He’s no closer to a tittle than the year he took over.

Michigan loses Gary, Bush, and Winovich and you think they'll be HEAVY BiG favorites? You sound like Rutgers Al.

UM has not had a cohesive team in years (maybe since the days of Hart). Like ND, they recruit on tradition and past success. UM fans are always saying "next season" while also expecting incoming recruits to carry the team on their backs. Terrible, arrogant fan base on top of it all. Losing today could not happen to a greater bunch of stooges.

There is some real comedy gold here. But the one thing you shouldn’t hope for is for Michigan to be preseason favorites. There is nowhere to go but down from that position. Harbaugh really needs to exceed preseason expectations for once. That is if he is even still coaching at Michigan next year.

How have Jimmah's QB's done? You know, the ones that didn't transfer into Ann Arbor?

"Think about that: making an assistant coach the HC at a major program. " Yes, of course you're right. Oklahoma fell so far this year after replacing a historic coach with an assistant. Damn, you know your football. And you do represent your fanbase very well. So, which of your players will win the Heisman next year and will you be be a wire to wire Number 1on your way to yet another national title? Kind of disappointing for you this year, I guess. Just think: a national title under Whorebaugh in 2018 would have allowed you to celebrate your first consensus title in 70 years!! But that dream is gone now. Damn!!

Michigan’s motto is now a punchline: “The Team, The Team, The Team” - that’s funny. Can’t think of more self-interested players anywhere (da O$U a close 2nd)
