Midlands Brackets & Thread :

AGH, Jeffries gets the TD he needs to go up 6-4, then gets pinned.

EDIT - Sorensen got the TD, not Jeffries, Track misled me.

the best part of the sorenson match was the ref giving the table "the business" for having the wrong score .....if you were watching on track you thought jefferies was leading ....he wasnt.

this happens too much. Also before this i was entertained by the kid on the mat saying he matches the anklets with the shoes and the girl sitting with him just couldnt understand why.

that is exactly what I thought, edited above for clarification. Can't watch at work, so had it up.

Hidlay vs Kemerer on deck mat 5. should be entertaining.

The Punxy Chuck could have cleaned his shots up, but toughness and positioning got him past the 3rd seed.

Kemmerer by decision, 9-6
Kemdog owned him on their feet. Terry was rightly yelling at ref that hayden wasn't doing anything.

Haden looked much thicker than kem but kem was just much slicker.

Marinelli was a little sloppy in his match if they need him to win a title this year they should RS him because I think he may break their hearts. More to this decision w Clark and stoll I presume.

Clark and Stoll make them competitive for a team trophy, but they aren't winning a championship (team wise). Marinelli has a long ways to go to be more than at best 7th or 8th, more likely round of 12.

Just my opinion, but redshirt the kid let him develop his skill set and strength then set him loose.
By the way - I did like his aggressiveness. He was always moving forward and attacking, but he struggled to finish at times.

What results have you seen that lead you to believe he has developed enough to pass a recruit like Marinelli? Young has a ways to go at this level and I'm not convinced he will ever become an AA caliber wrestler.
He looked good in last match, looks to me that he has what it takes.

Agreed on Marinelli, I don't see his game working against AA caliber guys, and there are plenty of them at 165 this year. I think IMar majors him tonight.

Just a guess, but in the very near future a Chad Red victory over just about anybody isn't going to be called an upset. Looks tougher than tough.

Jordan Wood looked pretty good while dropping Black into the consolation rounds.

My bad on posting before the round was over. I've updated my earlier post to include a few additional upsets in the upper weights.

1. Iowa 42.0
2. Rutgers 40.5
3. Illinois 36.5
3. Nebraska 36.5
5. Arizona State 33.0
6. NC State 29.0
6. South Dakota St 29.0
8. Central Michiga 27.5
8. Wisconsin 27.5
10. Oklahoma 25.0
11. Maryland 22.0
11. Rider 22.0
13. Northwestern 21.0
13. Princeton 21.0
13. Purdue 21.0
16. CSU Bakersfield 20.5

Wisconsin had a lot of seeds go down. Almost as surprising as a Tsirtsis OT ride-out win.

When is enough enough with Davis?

I wasn't posting to signal any missed upsets, or anything like that. I was just watching the match and was pretty impressed with Jordan's second period rideout and how tough he looked while beating a fairly decent NCAA heavyweight.

T-shirt looks kinda pudgy at 157. Wonder if that's the plan next year.
I'm sure the plan is no different than any other Tsirtsis year... Bore the opponent to death and win by staying on top longer.
I know the guy had a rough year, last year, and I do empathize with him, in that regard. I'm not trying to attack him, as a person. From anything I've seen, he's a stand-up guy. But as a competitor, I'd rather eat a bowl of rusty nails with no milk than watch a match of his.

Would adding a glass of milk to his match change your mind?

If it had heavy cream perhaps

BTN2Go is so far behind. I'd like to follow on trackwrestling and see who is on what mat and then pick what I want to watch, but they are so far behind I'll already know who won by the time I see it on BTN2Go.
