NCAA Session 6 Thread

In the final analysis, a SLIGHT disappointment in regards to Bo's loss, but he will learn and the next time he gets out there, he'll play it safer and win a nice, boring 5-2 Oklahoma State-style gold medal. In regards to the other 4 matches, we were just the slightest bit behind in the two losses, but Megaludis made everything right with his big win. I would be very surprised if Retherford lost another match, although it certainly COULD happen, I don't think he will lose more than one match the rest of his career.

Good news: We have our hammers back next year, all at the same weight with added muscle. Zain, Jason, and Bo.

And although it does not guarantee a gold for Jason, I promise you Imar isn't going to be able to hold 157 next year, dude was pulling a good 20 pounds all year.

Begs the question, returning 3 potential champs, should Hall take a redshirt or should we add a 4th n go all in?

MM wrestled not to lose...just too tentative
Stongly agree Morgan went all DEFENSE !!!! That is not very smart when it's your last college match....Then he hugs Cox...WOW...Pissed me off to the max.....Wrestle to win Morgan !!!! UNREAL !!!!

Wow - Shakur Rasheed looks like he has been enjoying some NY eats. you can really see how much he was cutting.

NCAA Awards:

Most TFs -- IMar

Most Falls -- Matt Miller (Navy)

Most Dominant -- Zain Retherford

What a season!!! I'm already looking forward to next season! Who's going to be in our 2017 recruiting class?

Other awards to be announced later?

Coach of Year.
Hodge
Outstanding Wrestler

"Good Job" with the Awards coverage by ESPN...NOT! Could they have had a worse camera angle? Heck they didn't even show the individual wrestlers gettng their awards. The bozo with the camera set it down on the seat next to him and gave us a nice shot of the crowd watching the awards presentation. Epic fail!

NWCA Coach of the Year: Kevin Dresser

Sorry gag me with a spoon watch the PSU AD and head of the University pose with the team for pictures makes me sick...
Why? They support the program. But let's be honest, the wtestling program isn't bringing in millions of dollars for its success. The lay of the land. The AD and President are leading a major university which brings in millions on research, academics and sports. Wrestling isn't one of them....it's a business man.

Stinks that ESPN3 can't continue coverage for these awards.

What else are they going to do tonight?

Cortez, Joseph and Cassar could be contenders - how do you know they aren't contenders for titles when you haven't even seen them wrestle at PSU yet? IMHO, Jimmy is a title contender if he goes back down to 33 - maybe Cortez could wrestle 25, anybody know if there is any chance that he could wrestle 25? He's got plenty of time to get their if the Staff has told him that is the plan for next year. Hard to say how many title contenders PSU will have in their line-up until mid-January of 2017 imho.

Great season and great tournament for our guys. Obviously I would have loved to see the team go 5/5 tonight but in the end it was great watching these kids wrestle today. Morgan has always been a class act and great kid. I'm sad he couldn't pull out a championship.

I also hope Jason and Bo aren't feeling too discouraged. Plenty of insanely talented and successful guys fell just short their first time including David Taylor, Ed Ruth, and even world champ Kyle Snyder. Those guys will be back in the finals.

Zain Retherford is just too much for anyone to handle. He's on of the most dominating wrestlers I've ever seen.

And Nico. I couldn't be happier to see him win. He's everything you could ever want in a student athlete. He really earned that title and really out wrestled an outstanding Thomas Gilmam who is just exceptional. Nico will always be one of my favorite PSU wrestlers.

What a great season! I can't wait until next year'

You truly are an @sshole criticizing Morgan for being classy at the end of the match and saying he "pissed you off to the max" - you really are a tool criticizing a kid for being a great representative of PSU and btw, who gives a phlying phuck whether it pissed you off or not....your sense of entitlement and that these kids "owe you" something is really disgusting and disgraceful.

Cortez wrestled in a tourney at 41 late in the year I believe. So 33/41 is the question. Suspect Suriano goes at 125.

I'm calling this:
125: Suriano
133: Cortez
141: Gulibon
157: Nolf
165: Joseph
174: Nickal
184: Rasheed/Cutch
197: Stout (I think Casser is gone)
HWT: Nevills
No Zain? And Jimmy back to 133 if he is to have more success. He's not long enough for 141.

That ship has sailed.

Thank you, my feelings exactly!

Morgan had a great career. especially considering he wrestled up in weight. If he went down to 184 he would of had a couple of championships.

Bo and Jason, I GUARANTEE will be back: Think about this: BOTH David Taylor and Kyle Snyder GOT PINNED their first time, and yep, BOTH of their opponents were underdogs. Bo losing to an underdog as a "huge upset" like Johnson said, was not that big of a deal. It happens.

Somebody actually beat Wade Schalles his sophomore year.

Dude, Nolf had the toughest openent in the tourney, Bo...River Boat Gambler...gambled and lost...period!

Who is taller, Jimmy or Cortez? They don't list heights on the Official Roster or Bios at GoPSUsports.com, anybody know what Jimmy's and Jared's heights are? I would rather see Jimmy back at 33 if Cortez can wrestle 41 because Jimmy simply could not handle, and had no answer for, the length he was giving up to most of the 41 lbers.

zain looked so good tonight. he just dominated sorensen who is far and away the second best wrestler at that weight.one thing popped into my mind as they raised zain's arm. how good is that freaking aaron pico. i'm not even sure he's out of high school yet. it's a damn shame we'll never see him wrestle a collegiate match. congrats nittany lions. one hell of a year.
