NCAA's - pre-tournament discussions

Let's not get crazy..I think most here don't give a shit where we seeded within reason. When you have the 2 clear best guys in the same conference (Gable/Kerk), you want common sense to prevail. Owan Trephan couldnt even beat out Trumble for the spot and you're going to seed him ahead of Kerk because of matrix?

Yes.

The committee needs to intervene as little as is truly necessary.

If people hate seeding now, just wait until it becomes more subjective.

As a reminder: Tom Ryan was on the NCAA Wrestling Committee (IIRC 2016-2018). Would you trust him to move seeds around?

What, pray tell, could be more "objective" than each wrestler's actual record against the field of 32 at their weight class?

What if one guy is 3-0 against 3 different qualifiers in the field and another is 5-1 combined against 5 different qualifiers (one of which he went 1-1 against)?

Who gets seeded higher assuming they didn't meet?

Since you keep bringing that up: define it, when they don't all face each other.

Please be sure that definition is measurable and can be applied to all weights.

The brackets coming out and Thursday morning are typically the high points of the tournament for me. Thursday night the tide turns with a couple Hawkeye's getting upset and then the quarterfinals on Friday lead me to drinking. Saturday morning, as I sit hungover, I watch the last shred of any positivity get ripped away as the placement matches always seem to end with a loss. Best time of the year!!!
Poor Mark Ironside by Saturday wants to throttle 2/3rds of the team. He does not hide his frustration on the air

We all want kerk to make the finals and pull off a miracle upset....but....

He will score more team points as the 4 seed and take third with more bonus. Again NOT what anyone wants but if you are an msu158 level hater, you don't actually want the 4 for kerk. Same for Beau, if they give him the 2 and Mendez the 3, his road to a championship is slightly better.

Whats the latest on Barr?
My daughter lived out State College when going to law school. She got to know a couple of wrestlers. Bravo Young would sometimes share some info on a injury. Never detailed but would comment if they were going to be out for a while or if they were ok
I don't have that Intel anymore.😕

How do you figure?

As the 3-seed making the finals, he’s at 16 points before bonus.

As the 4-seed losing in the semifinals and taking 3rd, he’s at 14 points before bonus.

Are you saying he wins by at least TF against the 5th or 6th placer AND at least by major vs the 4th placer?

Send her back to get another degree and more intel!!!

It's only one criteria.... So why should you be rewarded for RPI, when no wrestler controls their own schedule???

I am saying that it's almost comical how the haters are reduced to hoping Kerk gets the 4 seed to keep him out of the finals 😂

Is this better or worse than claiming to know and not being able give information?

It works that way if Kerk scores 2.5 bonus points in consis.

BUT: we don't need those team points.

And even if we did, is that what's important?

BTW, could you explain how it's fair to give 1 wrestler 15% of the criteria versus another wrestler for winning a Conference that the other wrestler doesn't even wrestle in, speaking of rewarding records built against completely separate schedules and against lower-ranked wrestlers on average.

In my defense, I'm working on a "project" involving Minnesota.

Ain't that @poorwrestler ?

I actually talked to a guy or two in the know on the gophs NIL situation for next season and beyond, and I’m much less worried than I was on Sunday lol
I'm working on another project far away from Minnesota

It's not fair. Almost everyone agrees except the people who make the rules. So here we are.

I’m not advocating for any criteria.

I’m trying to understand how we objectively apply an “against the field record” when even those could be wildly different. Just like winning one conference isn’t the same as winning another.

I'm not too worried because as it stands, I'm expecting Levi to wrestle Hamiti in the semis. Prefer that to O'Toole but at least O'Toole has been felt out twice. Hamiti is going to be a unique first time challenge especially since David knows Levi pretty well.

Now if they want to give Levi the 1, I'm all for it lol
I'm wondering if Levi at 1 is somehow where this is going.. what else would qualify as a sh*t storm? Having KO at 1 and the other two at 2/3 is what most would expect..

Shitstorm = Hamiti at 1. I don't see anything else that would qualify.
I think he’s taking it to Levi 1 and the shitstorm being the guy who beat both the other guys who can win it having to beat both again in 2 days rather than getting a reward for it.
