Northwestern Game Thread

Love it. You guys continue to make my point about what a bunch of negative Nellys you are. We've got a rematch with a team that we've already beaten twice, and the only thing you can see is that "it's going to be a savage beat down".

We have no depth, playing back to back nights without one of the key guys. I'm not saying we get crushed but I'm not confident in this team. Nor should anyone be confident in them. They aren't very good

I don't think there is anyone better than Raftery. And while Gus can be so over the top that it gets annoying, I like him on a big game.
Raffery thinks the broadcast is about him, with his shouting, and "kiss" comment. He is as big an egomaniac as Dickie V.

That was funny. And you're right about the negativity.

Can't wait for tonight when this team will look different and way better v. the second best B1G team than they looked last night v. the fourth worst. Go Nits!

Not exactly apples to apples without Watkins. And I said if they play like they did against NW, it will be a savage beat down. If they play better (and especially shoot better) it could be a much closer game, but I just don’t see us winning without Watkins. Not being negative, we’re just not deep enough to win without our only underneath presence against a team of that caliber.

Thank goodness. Hate to see what a negative you looks like.

In case you haven't noticed, we've beaten OSU twice already. We cause Ohio State match up problems, i.e. they have trouble against teams with good guards (Carr and Garner combined for 42 and 43 points in the two games against the Buckeyes - Watson only averaged 9 and wasn't his normal huge factor in either game).

But for some reason, you don't see Ohio State's match up problems, you only see ours. Carr will get his points. If Garner has another on night against OSU (and Shep loves the Garden - 21 points against St Johns, 22 points against Michigan, a dozen last night - he's shooting 15-30 from beyond the arc there), we can beat them again.

Crazy to watch Graham Woodward playing for Drake in Arch Madness right now...feels like a generation ago that he was playing for us.

Props Uncle Lar. I was positive but admittedly a bit facetious in my post above. I didn’t think PSU would win given how bad they looked 24 hours before. You were vocal, predicted and you were right!
I didn’t watch the game due to the storm and power outage, but I saw the score and thought ”... well I’ll be...” congrats to the team and staff. Props to you.

Thanks for the props. Tone with 25, Shep with 13 (3-6 from beyond the arc to maintain his .500 shooting percentage in the Garden - and one absolutely HUGE steal). That's 38 total for the backcourt and Ohio State is exposed again. Don't pick OSU in your NCAA bracket if they go up against a team known for its guard play. .

CBS seems to agree with me

"Guard play will be why OSU could struggle to make a deep run in the NCAAs".
