Official PSU - Purdue Game Thread

Yes too loose...like a cat playing with a mouse

I believe that has been an issue with Franklin and Co. Since he started, they have rarely been crazy pumped up for games. Pit was fired up and and PSU didn't seem to be. The last 2 games have been way better in this aspect.

No problem with the play calling, but why was Rahne calling a bomb on first down with a 28-0 lead? Maybe because it's the one part of Clifford's game that isn't strong right now? He underthrew it pretty badly.

Sure looked like guy got up and try running again the Brisker tackles him
As I said earlier, there are too many targeting calls and now I can say there are too many personal foul calls too.

Had to be miscommunication. Hamlet made no attempt to come back for the ball. He was full steam ahead on a go route. The two of them were talking as they walked off the field. Someone had to miss something there.

Gotta keep putting them points up. That is what a top team is supposed to do.

I do agree that he could just be helping Clifford get some of those reps. Then again, that may be all Clifford deciding to go deep for all we know...

Anybody wanting to whine about the punt return turnover:

It was a shitty punt. Not a lot our guys can do on a ball that travelled 20 yards.

The Ohio State's and Iowa's and Michigan's won't be kicking balls like that.

PENN STATE DEPTH CHART

WEEK 6 VS. PURDUE

OFFENSE

Wide Receiver

6 Justin Shorter (So./Fr., 6-4, 235)

11 Daniel George (So./Fr., 6-2, 220)

81 Cam Sullivan-Brown (Jr./So., 6-0, 194)

That was a few days ago, so Shorter must’ve been a last second scratch.

bad punts are very tricky. It's Hamler's job to communicate with Sutherland, but that punt was so short there wasn't much time. In any case it's film they can use to teach this week.

Ya cuz coaches always put out the most accurate depth chart

I can't see much negative about it. They play hard for him. PSU coaches tell them to play reckless, play at the edge. That's the only way you're going to make the extraordinary plays.

But this is a young team and still making tons of mistakes.

That PF against Brisker looked like a bad call to me. It was the Purdue back who ignored the whistle and tried to get up and run and Brisker was responding to that.

Something was definitely off on the play. Clifford threw the ball early, which indicates to me that he wasn't expecting Hamler to run the Go route. Hamler didn't look back until he was by the DB, indicating he was expecting the ball at that point and not before.

Back to the Hamler reverse that lost 8, I agree with the pbp guy: run that to wide side and give Hamler a chance to use his speed and shiftiness. We had already shown that play 4 times previously, with Dotson getting it while Hamler was out. They were waiting on #1.
