Getting back to Friday's weather, 75 and a chance of showers, then showers likely.

I am aware of the match on Sunday. Teams have done joint "meets" before. I think it may be easier to do that rather than reschedule?
The dual is live on BTN. Zero chance it gets moves because there might be 1-2 inches of snow. This is Central PA, 1-2 inches is NOTHING.

In Erie if I can take a leak in my back yard without freezing my junk, it hasn't really snowed.

So the buckeys can't get off bottom or travel in snow, got it. I jest.

Turk,
When that 3.5mm square shaft we make for the active manifold breaks, it's not our fault. It was a poor design I warned them about in 2013. There is a lawsuit ongoing between our customer and Ford for service costs associated to the breakage. If your performance begins to suffer, look there.
As with most complex machines, things will fail eventually. Even the best maintenance doesn't prevent issues like you mention. That's why I buy the extended warranty to 100,000 and get rid of the trucks at about 90,000. I remember my dad constantly working on and throwing money into his Chevy trucks as I grew up. Blown engines, transmission's, water pumps, U- joints, ball joints, cv joints, smoking joints, starters, alternators, distributor caps/plug wires.. on down the line. It affected his work, demeanor, alcoholism..

I never wanted to be that guy and I'm not. The only work I've done to my trucks in the last 15 years is fix flat tires, brakes and factory recalls I didn't have to pay for. Stress free.

My dad was like you too. He said you either have a garage payment on an old car or a monthly payment on a new car. Taking the car to the garage was an inconvenience so you might as well drive around in something reasonably new if you can.

My wife and I are pay cash for the car and drive them until the wheels fall off people. She has a 2011 Suburban with 130,000 miles. She's hell bent on getting to 200,000. I'm betting against that. But, when you have some $1200 bill at the garage it is the one payment you make a year.

To each their own. Some people choose to drive unreliable pieces of crap everyday even if they have the money for a new one. I grew up that way. I get it.

Once I paid my first truck off years ago the other trucks since have been "cheap". Trucks have a high resale, especially if you take care of them.

I hear what your saying. My 2018 Tahoe just last week had the transmission go out. Unfortunately it is out of warranty as I have 138k on it.

The dealer here in MD wants 9k to replace it. F that. Dragging the car back to pa for my cousin to do the work for 3800 parts and labor.

It depends on how you use the car I guess.

One factor in getting a new car is whether your state has annual property tax on vehicles. Here in SC they do and it can be high on newer high dollar vehicles, but decreases with age and possibly mileage. I don't worry about it at all since I don't have a daily personal vehicle, only a company truck. We'll run it till the wheels come off. Last one was 299,996. I'm pushing for 350K on this one. My last new personal vehicle was a 92 EB Bronco. It had 285K when I sold it to my buddy's daughter. They drove it until a crackhead stole it and burned it. If I want to take a trip in a nice vehicle, a week rental is less than a 1 month car payment. Don't have a personal phone either.

That is how we do it also. And we also have a really good mechanic that has great prices!

I have 315K mikes on my 04 Avalanche. Yes, I’ve had to do brake lining once, and I’ll do 02 sensors every now and then, spark plugs every 150K, oil and filters every 7.5K and brakes every 75K. I have had to replace an alternator once and the window washer reservoir, but other than that it just keeps rolling down the road. Thankfully I’ve done all of those things myself so cost has been minimal.

Yeah. I do the brakes and rotors, but that's it anymore.

We had the transmission replaced on our old 2007 4Runner at around 220k. We finally got rid of it at 280k. I thought the $2000 we paid for it here in Frederick was a lot.

Just pulled into the Penn Stater, came down a day early. Salt trucks at every ramp with lights flashing just waiting. Gonna be a long night for them...

Just stepped out in the borough and it’s a sheet of ice. Stay off the roads before noon and let the crews do their thing. Hopefully it will be cleared by mid afternoon.
